Thank you for showing this. I have just carried out the repair myself and found breaking the old plastic parts was the quickest way to remove the pin. The new parts were indeed very tight but I avoided drilling out by forcing the round locator in with pressure from a screwdriver. Very pleased to have my old Workmate back without floppy legs. Thank you for your help.

I was going to get a new one, but found a used one for less. It has the same problem as your did.
So after watching your experience, I'll e buying new. 😊

Thanks - very useful. These clips are indeed a tight fit. In a couple of cases I filed the lugs on the new pieces in order to get the clips to click in place.

Needed to do one more of these and found this video again and my own comment! Again, the lug didn’t quite reach, so I filed a tiny amount from it and then the clip fitted perfectly!

Instead of drilling out the hole try getting channel lock over the piece and pull it into place. Snug fit. Worked on all four legs on my old Workmate.

I even have the same spider webs and sawdust. No threading on my pins.

@@TwoKeysStudio I ordered the leg locks off of Amazon - the more expensive variety where I could see the injection molding marks. Had to file out the locking pin hole about 0.5mm. Now have to contend with a missing M8 bolt in main folding section on one side - this has a collar that I can't find on replacement bolts - so getting that side to align is not easy...

So now it holds tight in the open position. But it doesn't appear that that leg will hold in the closed position like the other ones. Carrying it with the legs flopping around is my problem. The one you fixed was on the top as you carry it, so it's not a problem, Mine is at the bottom when carried and gets in the way. The bench I have appears to be an older model that these catches might be made for originally. I'll see about that hole size when I get the part. Thank you for showing this. I'd put a little more light on the subject next time. It's very dark in there being in the shadow.

A few close ups would be helpful, and not just a ‘this fits in here, just like that’, and ‘there ya go’. . .

Information is useful but the quality of the video images very poor. It needs illumination on the area where the part is fitted.

@@TwoKeysStudio No worries - I still value you taking the trouble and time to help others. As I said, good info and it wouldn't be to hard to re-do and fix the lighting situation, if you wanted to do so. Take care. stay safe. non
