Wonderful video! I've put lights into 64th scale farm toys before using smaller lights from Evans Designs. Great company to work with. I also found that copper foil tape will work too just like the bare metal foil.

Dude never mind using bare metal foil. I just got this idea. Buy Copper Foil Shielding Tape. I use it when I wire up guitars. It conducts electricity. StewieMac sells it. Thanks for sharing your techniques with us. I had the shielding tape the whole time never thought to use it for models!

I'm in prep mode for my first led addition in my 40 years of modeling. My dad was a cop back in the day and I want the car I'm making him able to run the overheads. Got my lights from Evans too. If it's mounted to a base, I assume I'm running power and ground through the wheel into the base eh?

Great idea thanks, I'll probably use it in the next model I'm about to build.

Brilliantly done can you do a video on how to do indicators ( turn signals ) or tell me how they can be done with leds

I use 1/8" copper tape, NOT BMF! With care you can solder wires directly to it (even after the tape is applied to the plastic). I don't use prewired LEDs. With out leads, the LEDs are a few cents a piece. You can also buy 1 mm LEDs but they are much more costly. I also build the battery and a remote RF controller inside the model for switching wirelessly..

Fantastic, I never thought of using aluminum tape as my lead. Thanks for the tip! I am wondering if soldering to the foil would be a viable option?

I was thinking the same. I’ve seen tape not age well over time(not sure of metal tape), but if the surface could be painted with a hard shell enamel it could reasonably preserve the foil.

Hi, was wondering what do you use to glue the LED lights in with?

I don't use a lot of led's anymore since I've been introduced to smd lights. They come in sizes to 3mm to a almost micro-sized lights for smaller kits. Also, the wiring is very thin and very flexible, making them easy to conceal and in some cases invisible. Have you tried these before?

i only use leds from one supplier, i get them custom made to my specs and all of my wiring is invisible in the finished build.

Great vid Hunter. Does the light setup come ready to blink or did you add something to it so it will blink? I'll be checking out that company you mentioned in the vid. Thanks again bud

Test the bare metal foil you have, Some ARE NOT materials that conduct current, most aluminum will not.

I have used every color of bare metal foil in tests and each one works to carry enough current for leds.
