MaCenna, I was a designer in Washington. At one time, I rented a whole bus and took 50 of my clients around to about 6 of my favorite stores for a full day (spending about 45 minutes in each). They all brought bins for everything they bought and absolutely loved it. I charged about $50 ea and it included a nice sack lunch and special guest speakers between stops. All the stores knew we were coming and set up special mini-gifts and discounts for us. It was so popular I think I did it about 6-7 times. Just an idea for all of us who love ya!
This could be an annual event and once the cottages are built, you could bundle a stay with the thrifting excursion! A weekend with MacCenna. How cool that would be!
I can’t wait until you get the guest cottages open! My cousin Nancy that is 75 and I am 68, we want to be your first guest! We love your channel and you have inspired us to do home improvements and thrift shopping!
My mom is 76 and I want to be first guests too. We were in Comfort the other day and after scoping out a few side streets, we gave OURSELVES stalker vibes and cut bait lol.
MaCenna, I would love to see you do mantel and coffee table displays in various styles: cottage, midcentury, modern, farmhouse, eclectic, etc. You have such a flare for display!! It might be nice to also discuss how to use items in odd#s (3's, 5's) and how to best show off each piece. Thank you for inspiring me each week!!
I used to go to a consignment shop that would make furniture groupings like country, modern traditional, etc.with the appropriate style rugs, lamps and decor. Not only was it pleasing to the eye but gave ideas to those who can’t picture what to put together.
I volunteer at a Thrift Store too. My favorite part is when it gets quiet, I walk around and rearrange the displays. I love it too, it’s thrilling!!! Thank you for the inspiration 😎🌼🙆🏻♀️🤗
You should do a challenge where both you and your mom pick things for each other to thrift flip and see what you come up with. Or have Romeo go shopping for thrift flips for you to do and you don’t find out until after and see what you come up with!
If Funky Junk would let you, I'd love to see more styled displays but do different themes. I LOVE your decor choices but maybe do a farmhouse one, then an industrial, and so on.
My sisters and I will sometimes do the same thing and create a grouping of items we've discovered in a thrift store. We have a lot of fun with this❗😉😍 On a side note, it's not unusual to find a thrift that's hard to get into to clean (like a vase with a bubble bottle and a narrow neck). Get some denture cleaning tablets (like Efferdent). A dollar store is a good place to get these inexpensively. Put water in the piece and drop in the tablet. Let it sit overnight. Rinse with clear water and voila, sparkling again! 🙌 If the crud inside is particularly stubborn, redo the same process. Generally it only takes once,, but it may take a couple times. Good luck! 👍
This was such a fun idea for a video, I loved it! I will admit though, with the title saying you‘re volunteering there I expected this to be more of a glimpse into how a thrift store is run - where they source their products, what goes into displaying and pricing them and sifting through donations and things like that! Loved this video all the same, but perhaps that could be an idea for a follow-up vid if the owners of that thrift store would be down?
I think I feel the same in a way...?.... I usually fully support and watch both of the channels, but I think that her talents supersede what actually happened there in this vlog and it was a little underwhelming overall. But yes, the idea of merchandising different thrift stores or this one as a volunteer to help them out would be cool and generous as a designer and influencer, but that was more of a haul in the back of the store without buying... again, I fully appreciate the efforts.
Ideas? Yep. MaCenna starts making house calls! My house kinda looks like a thrift store but with fewer price tags and more dogs. Everything I have is basically thrifted or family antiques and it DESPERATELY needs some styling! (I'm only 2.5 hours from Boerne!)
I just love it when your new videos come out. I am somehow feeling like I’m getting to be with my daughter by just watching you and imagining what it would be like to be hanging out with her again. I love the Waves song at the end. I know he’s singing it about his girl probably but it somewhat fits how I grieve over my daughter. It def comes in waves. The last few days have been so hard. I miss her more than I can say. She has banished us from her life snd her two daughters. It’s been 7 years and she only lives about 30 minutes from us. She’s so angry and refuses to talk with us about her feelings. I’m desperately hopeless a lot of days. You are so beautiful like her and you’re close to her age. Thank you for reminding me of her.
I think it would be cool if you created a whole living room vibe inside the store... using furniture, rugs, throws, decor!!! Create a vibe you can walk in and around!!!
it might require a bit of dragging things around but some old crusty pillars, some shabby chairs, (cane?) some french doors, flowers spilling out of a crock off center on a character filled patio table- ready for coffee for two. like, make little theme based roomlettes...front & center with yourself.
MaCenna , I had a lemon ‘splitzer’ ( lemon and lime graft) in a pot for 8 yrs prior to its forever home . 5 years in and its producing fantastically . Go for it!!
Love all your channels... Id love to see you make over a room with just thrift finds... that would be amazing! I’m sure whatever you decide to film... we will love it! 😘🤗
Those new rings are so pretty. I love simple jewellery pieces too. I live in Australia and when I looked on the Aurate web site I was very happy to see that they deliver to Australia. I can't wait to start scrolling through their web site and making some selections. Having a life time warranty is amazing. Thanks for sharing this information with us.
Good video. I have 2 lemon tress and a lime tree that I grow in planters on my decks. It's great because if it's going to be cold out, I can just bring them in. I usually get 10 to 15 lemons per tree. I just love watching them grow.
This was a fun one! I can see with your style and notoriety that you could give your local shops a boost and have fun doing it! I have been doing some “free styling” for friends and acquaintances lately. They appreciate my style and have rooms that need some style. I pop over and shop their homes, looking for things they already have but perhaps never thought of grouping or using…thinking outside the box. Some are young people, some elderly. The young are usually on a tight budget, the elderly have cool things to use, but are still styled the way they were “back when”. Just an idea of a makeover that wouldn’t take too much time but could be exciting for the recipient, great content for your channel, inspiration for someone with a similar space, and maybe, it could spark ideas in others to do the same. 😁 My motto is: “Make America beautiful, one house at a time.” I’m well on my way…5 just this month! It is so much fun and so rewarding!
@@kerriuttaro6153 Oh, I just do it for free. Word of mouth, friends, family. Because I don’t charge anything and often end up painting the room, I try to be cautious about being “taken advantage of”. In other words, lazy people or “users” would get a polite “I have a lot on my plate right now…” 😉 I love a good “before and after”, so it brings me joy to do this for those that just need a little help to make their home more pleasant to look upon. ☺️
@@rebekahschroeder7949 that is sooo nice that you do that for free! You should definitely start charging. I love a good before and after, sooo satisfying!
It would be really fun to see you collect and style special little items for the guest rooms! Guest rooms are so fun to decorate because you feel empowered to go outside of your current style and try new color palettes or motifs that don’t necessarily perfectly match the rest of the house ☺️
My mom and I were able to stop by Faith and Funky Junk. Your display was all gone! But mom did buy those green plates with different flower designs on them. Great stuff.
I LOVE what you’re doing but also miss seeing all the pretty styling final touch stuff you do. This was a great taste of that. I know ur a girl who loves a good bookshelf. Maybe a series on styling shelves? Maybe u could pop in to restaurants, stores, homes of fans, friends or charities and style up a bookshelf. To be clear- I’m not complaining! I’m loving the cottage Reno journey. Keep up the great work. ❤️XO
My mom had a potted lemon tree for 30 years it made the house smell amazing when it bloomed even tho it didn't make lemons for years. I made her get me one last summer!
Very fun video! Love your thrifting inspiration. It would be fun to see different theme table scapes made with only thrusted items. ( theme ideas.. ladies tea, birthday party, Christmas, baby/wedding shower table) 🥰 keep up the great content!
So much fun .... U could try thrift flipped items into a special display at this thrift store itself .... They might b thrilled at the increased quantity of base stuff they sell

Helping us thrift flip our things at home. So for example we send you some photos on an object and you show us how you would thrift flip it with pictures or examples. I for an example have a table lamp that I have no idea what to do with and maybe you can give ideas on it.
I was in San Antonio and Fredericksburg for work in the past few days so of course I made sure to visit Faith & Funky Junk! I didn't have much time to explore but still managed to find several awesome project items! Yes, please do more thrift videos, love how you created your story display! By the way, you can put a lemon tree in a planter- my dad built a huge wooden square planter with wheels & then planted the tree. The tree took off & produced some lemons. Take care
Loved it! I think you should offer to do more of those in other places! Maybe do a combo with Romeo picking the clothes he likes to thrift? Until you can do your pop up shop!. Side note: loved when you said "it's 9:20pm" and Kinsley barked! 🤣😅 like yea it's bed time mom!
Love this idea! I’ve heard antique collectors say in videos that booths or stores that do best are the ones that are clean and where stuff has been moved 👍🏾
I have a lemon tree that I started from a seed. You might want to try that!!! Its fun to see what you can come up with from seed. Its like thrifting, taking something and making it something else. :)
Suggestion for you... offering to redecorate some of your neighbours rooms using their existing furniture and pieces. I have done for friends and they loved it. I’d pick a room and ask them how they want to feel in the room, what do they love etc... then remove everything and start again using pieces from all over the house.
I’d love to see more curated tables at this thrift store! I imagine it’s really fun because I always see things when I’m browsing that I don’t need or don’t fit my current home aesthetic, but they’re gorgeous items that I would love to style! Maybe it could be a series!
Okay so the green glass vase I am pretty sure is Anchor Hocking in the Soreno pattern in the color Avocado green. My wife found an entire luncheon set (20 pc 5pc service for 4) for 3 bucks at a thrift in Utah. The stickers were still on the glass and the bridal shower card was still in the box - which was the original packaging. There was 1 bowl missing which was likely placed on the brides gift table 60 years ago bc that was a thing back in the day. I replaces the bowl for 13.00 via etsy. For ONE bowl lol So yeah. I want that vase but i went thrifting today and my budget is officially blown *checking google maps to Boerne anyway*

Just discovered your channel maybe a week ago and it made me so happy to see that you’re so close to San Antonio! We just moved to the area recently and I haven’t explored very much yet so I’m excited to see what you find around here 💛 love your channel and your style!
I love Faith and Funky Junk!!! I hope I can bump into you thrifting sometime - eek! I may just geek out 🤓 And yes, I originally potted my lemon and lime citrus plants and they do pretty well.
i have over the years thrifted carnival glass the american orange pyrex and the soft green glass of the 40 and fifties also if something has broken and i look to replace. some milk glass. my son and daughter bought a tiny sea cottage and i furnished most of it by thrifting
You did a great job styling that little section. I definitely recommend that you do a couple more sections in their shop. In addition, I don't know if you've looked at anything from AtHomeWithNikki...you should. Specifically table scapes when entertaining at the back patio she has. The green vase and glassware, etc. reminded of her gathering blue pieces for entertaining. It's a great idea to have pieces that stand out. I think at one point you were looking at amber pieces, if I'm not mistaken. But between the store, the attractive pieces that they have and setting that station up, got me inspired...So thanks!...lol
If you are looking for green glassware, check EBay or other resale places for Noritake Perspective in green. It was made between 1970-85. It looks like it would be in your color scheme. Collectible and affordable.
You can wear gold in the shower, yes. As a former jewelry consultant though, I recommend you still try to take them off and put them away as much as possible still. Gold can and will still wear down. It can also tarnish. I had a customer who came in and here jewelry was left in her safe. It was gold and it still tarnished because moisture still got in. You can also find old vintage gold and see parts where gold has worn down and has darkened where it has worn down. So to keep your jewelry looking its best, try to have them off of you when you're using lotions, soaps, shampoos, etc. Like take your rings off when you are optioning. Afterwards, it should be fine to put back on.
Okay, I have to pause watching so I can 🏃🏻♀️ to my resale shop around the corner. You got me! LOL I’m pausing at 8:19. I shall return. I’m looking to see if they have some cool art as well as vintage books. 🥰

You are going to get the pick of the litter!! Smart girl!! 🥰
I love everything you put together!!
I NEED those huge Muppet art pieces! I spotted them immediately on the back wall by the fabrics. 😩
Hi from UK. I bought some ceramic bottles in a local charities store this weekend and instantly thought these are so you.x
My mom used to add to her earthenware collection weekly shopping at IGA grocery store .
I need to go very soon, and check out your display!!! I'm in San Antonio, and I've never been there.
😊The two tone pot, may be a hot cocoa pot rather than a tea pot ( usually squat & round).❤️
Love that you use eyeshadow to contour!

I always smile when I get a notification of a new video. I can't wait to go thrifting this summer after watching all of your videos.
Okay, I have to pause watching so I can 🏃🏻♀️ to my resale shop around the corner. You got me! LOL I’m pausing at 8:19. I shall return. I’m looking to see if they have some cool art as well as vintage books. 🥰
Always love that type landscape...
