Decor tip (for new homeowners): You can find home decor that is just as cool as MaCenna's at thrift stores, including silk florals! It's all about timing and patience. Some of my favorite decor pieces came from thrift stores when I was broke as heck, and costed less than $5. I just used the knowledge I learned from MaCenna's videos, applied it to my own home, and boom. My home looked like I spent $1,000's on it, when I really didn't. Granted, it took years to get to that point, cus I could only afford one piece every few weeks. 😅 But, that honestly made it even more special when I found "the one" that was my style, and also in my budget. Don't pressure yourself into finding an entire room's worth of decor all at once. Even MaCenna had to start slow at the beginning of her channel. Just be patient with your budget. Your collection will grow at it's own pace. ☺️

The way your home feels both modern and timeless, lived in but curated, is just absolutely stunning and inspiring.
Would love to see a giant, more colourful artwork on that large wall behind the couch. The current artwork is fine but it doesn't add anything to the space. I'd love to see something with some more depth, and a bit of colour that works with the neutrals, like a deep green.
Everything is beautiful but those diy pics looks like military camo kinda.❤
A big piece would overwhelm the stairway.
Maybe the large artwork in the guest room would go well there?
Dont you think it would be competing with the opposite wall if it was too dark?
I've found with my own decor that having things on opposite walls that competed made the room feel more narrow. I'm not sure if the same would happen with Macennas home as it's larger than mine, but it would be something to consider

Its so cute that everytime romeo says that something is pretty she relly lights up. Its like shes even proder of herself cuz he likes it.
You can try bringing down the large painting from upstairs and replacing it with the 2 paintings in the tv room downstairs. I think that wall needs a bigger statement peace.
I was going to comment something similar! They look lost and disconnected. Maybe if it were a trio, but that wall commands a larger statement piece for sure.

Oh Macenna, It’s funny to me as I watch you style your house so beautifully.
But, soon that little one will adorn your hearts, along with all the baby things you need for a baby boy. None of this will matter. None of it, the minute you two see your baby boy for the first time.
I’m an old lady now. All my boys (3) have all grown up and started their lives. I look back and I don’t remember how clean my house was, or how styled it was. I remember little pitter patter of feet. Messes of blocks and baby toys.
High chairs. Strollers.
Bottles and bobbles.
I know how close you are to having this special bundle of joy.
Don’t forget to take some time for you and your Romeo to get away and steal some last minute alone time.
You will never be this couple again once he comes.
Again, just reminiscing back, thought I’d share. And remember is it going to matter in a year? Don’t stress over it. No matter what it is. ❤❤❤

But her income is made by creating content. That matters a lot, to her and us.
I also believe it brings her an immense amount more of joy to create and film. I imagine it will be something that she continues to do in some capacity so that she never loses sight of her own passions, even with the new passion of her child. It doesn’t need to be one or the other. When time and space allows, I believe she can do both❤

Pillow stuffing tip - I wrap a too small pillow insert in quilt batting to help fill larger pillow covers. Batting can also ‘stiffen’ a too soft pillow insert.
Loved this update! Romeo is so wonderfully encouraging. A thought (fellow designer and mama here)...along with the kitchen build, have contractor do the family room "library" bookcases too. Combine the installation into a one time mess. :)
Love the idea for a large new frame in the living room! could be DIY, mural, thrift or antique.... I think the abstract beige frames don't fit the vibe in adjacent rooms. Love this channel ♡ Seeing you pregnant makes me smile!
OMG, you will not believe this... My name is Vick and I`ve been following your channel for years now. I was just watching this video and I realized that the two doves you have, that you show on minute 26:52, are exactly the same my grandmother had in her house and I grew up with.

Why dont you make your own cushion covers? Think of all the fantastic fabric shops you could hunt through. That way you can have whatever you want and its so easy .. 🥰🇬🇧
I watch these video’s differently now. I just keep think about all the baby proofing that house will need.
Not necessarily. I had 3 boys & I never needed to baby proof my home, as far as my decor went. I made sure they had their own dedicated play room, along with their bedrooms, so there was no reason for them to get into my items in the other rooms. I just taught them that those items were off limits & it was never an issue for me. It’s not like they weren’t allowed in certain rooms, they could be in any room they wanted, I just taught them to respect the things in each room. I have a feeling that MaCenna & Romeo will do the same thing. Of course, you need to make sure your home is safe for children, but there’s no reason to remove any decor items, at least, in my opinion & experience. 😊

It seems that many whose living space looks like a playground instead of a home,are too lazy to teach boundaries. Unfortunately,those poor children are unwanted terrors at other people’s homes because they were never taught those boundaries.😖😵💫😬

Each room is a different color base, then I add seasonal pillows, pictures, throws, a lot of bright flowers in vases for spring that tie all rooms together.
Everything looks so awesome 😍 I would love to see A built in wall bookcase in that spot where your beige art lives in your living room behind your couch, It’s such an amazing space ❤
I actually learned the trick of keeping all the pillow covers layered. So instead of taking the fall covers off. Just putting the spring ones on top. And then in fall just swap them.

Great refresh. Would you consider substituting something different in your vignettes other than jug, faux flowers, book w/2 candles? A small art print on an easel or floral plate would be so pretty.

I got rid of the coffee table completely. I'll bring it back inside in a year or so.
@@michelewalkerwebb same. it's kind of annoying but my twins kept climbing on it and pushing it to reach higher things that i need to keep out of reach, so the coffee table is in the basement for now hahaha
I have to chuckle, because growing up, even to this day, I don’t know of anyone who changes things up from season to season in there homes, except for Christmas, and maybe a couple nick-nacks for Thanksgiving time. I certainly don’t change things up from season to season, except I use to do Christmas, and now with kids grown & them living in other states, I don’t even do that. However, I do really like what I’ve done over the years here, so I guess that adds to keeping it as is. It’s also a sign of just getting older, plus my health is no longer good, and I just don’t have the energy to do that stuff, nor do ai care too.

You might really think about the crafty art behind the sofa in the family room. Something else.
A word of caution: please please trim your candles before you light them, always. Be extra careful to secure the bases of the candles inside the holder. Be sure the candle is away from the walls/canvas curtains. We get distracted easily & accidents happen in the blink of an eye.

Please add some color to the art pieces you did that are on the wall in your informal living room. Just before you said that in the video, I was thinking how pretty they would be with more color in them. They really kinda just get lost in your wall color as they are now, that room is really one that could use more color.
The two paintings you did yourself look washed out in the room. I think something with more color and even larger would look fantastic on that wall. Just a suggestion from the peanut gallery.

Nice to see some light, bright and airy colors in your bedroom. The moodiness felt a bit too heavy, but now with the addition of the whites and creams, the moodiness is perfectly complimented.
I think you should just get your own fabrics and make your own pillow covers to go over what you have ❤ you can do it artsy girl.
If your taper candle doesn’t fit in a holder, use a lighter to melt the bottom a bit and it will slip in a lot easier!
The lamp on the entry way table is just GORGEOUS !!
Breathtaking taking actually, the whole entry way table is soo beautifully decorated with gorgeous pieces, but it takes proper skill to assemble them so cohesively so that each peace good shine.

MaCenna, I’m getting a lot of light bulb inspirational moments with this video. Those cushion covers are divine. I’m semi rural London/Kent. A lot of your design and decor would work so well in my 1909 house. Oh and I’ve just purchased 6 rose bushes for the garden. ❤❤❤.
I saw something the other day I am obsessed with. There was a pretty long oval like basket with linen books of buying nature colors spread out l8ke playing cards inside including . It was so beautiful with a sky blue. Dark green , browns tans, beige khaki, rust, dark gold, gray. Amazing look.
You have turned your house into a beautiful home! You have wonderful taste. Please don't take this as criticism, it's only a suggestion...love your bedroom makeover, but while watching this video, I think that the door going into the bathroom and the window above it could be incorporated to look like one large unit by extending the door molding to the window and painting the in between area white. This will make the room appear taller...again just a suggestion. Blessings!

Filling a wide bookcase with vintage books would be quite expensive. Do you mean similar to the cottage bookcases? I think even the few books in that room came out to a lot of money.

Suggestion, the large art in the guest room, put where handmade art is behind the sofa. So much color.
Love the transition to each room, they are all different but flow seamlessly. The nursery is adorable too. Makes me wish for a minute my boys were little again, just a minute, lol. Oh and your pup is so stinking cute! 🙂
Really like the colors in the bedroom. But 8 pillows, that’s a lot to take off and put back. Also i like the hidden headboard, but now it disappears behind the pillow mountain. Overall, really nice and moody room
it's so funny, because that exact shade of blue became my favorite color recently. I have this thrifted mustard couch and dusty pink armchair and that blue mixes so nicely with it
