Predator is a 1987 American science fiction action film directed by John McTiernan and written by brothers Jim and John Thomas. It is the first installment in the Predator franchise. It stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as the leader of an elite paramilitary rescue team on a mission to save hostages in guerrilla-held territory in a Central American rainforest, who encounter the deadly Predator (Kevin Peter Hall), a technologically advanced alien who stalks and hunts them down.
Predator was written in 1984 under the working title of Hunter. Filming ran from March to June 1986 with creature effects devised by Stan Winston; the budget was around $15 million. 20th Century Fox released the film on June 12, 1987, in the United States, where it grossed $98.3 million. Initial reviews were mixed, but the film has since been reappraised as a classic of the action genre.
The success of Predator spawned a media franchise of films, novels, comic books, video games, and toys. It spawned three direct sequels: Predator 2 (1990), Predators (2010) and The Predator (2018), and an upcoming installment in preproduction. A crossover with the Alien franchise produced the Alien vs. Predator films, which include Alien vs. Predator (2004) and Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007).

Predators was a very solid film and a follow up film would be great.

Predator 1 and prey were the best movies
U know what would be awesome is if they went to predator home world and show the hierarchy of different predators they have. And the way the raise them to be warriors like Spartan 300.

Definitely the visual would be cool. Scenes from their parliament or courts. Predator Kids playing with tiny alien toys learning to kill, or the teachings of how to rip out a skull and spine. Aspects of rules like stealing ,your forced in a ring against 3 aliens you must win to get off the charges proving your a worthy warrior for society. Sh-t I could go on for ever, lol.
Another one would be good to see how their planet (Sneila) prepares for war. Their weapon testing and the power plants all over the planet. Show what they create their energy from. Even if you base the movie on the predators planet and show all this and much more, the plot would thicken by them preparing for war. Who are they at war with, first Mars which has life with a messed up almost extinct race to battle, then off to earth to hunt aliens and to survey the continents to figure out if war would be good for them.
Royce got some love in the comics, Predators gave him his own armor.
I think going back to the war in 1812 , the predator could be secretly helping the good guys without anyone knowing. It could be a spot to bring the musket that was given to ‘the cop at the end of Predator 2.

Problem is they have to get it right no matter what type of movie it is but adding the stigma of sequel will make it that much harder to achieve. Take your shot land on the Moon.
They could gather all elite team, all winners against predators and give them last competition simultaneously telling their untold stories what they did all that time before. It would be similar, but great idea in order to close all white spots of franchise and start something new.
I love the Predator the original will always be a classic but the character itself is one of the best ever created it’s so many things you can do with. Hopefully they can get the right creative people behind this to take it to another level because I will always watch the predator movies.

Yeah, let's continue their story where they hijack an alien craft and desperately try to find home. All the while being hunted by the Predators. Let those two learn about the alien tech and use it to their advantage and go on the hunt with the Predators to exterminate the alien species trying to conquer the galaxy.
Even though it's from a video game, hunting grounds explains what happens to Royse and Isabel, Royse chooses to stay on the world and hunt the predator ls like noland did and Isabel manages to pilot one of the ships back to Earth. Also, there is a tie in comic. For the predators movie, that answers some questions

Both the Predator and Aliens franchise need to move away from the movies and onto becoming a mini series of individual stories starting by using the Dark Horse Comics as source material.
Nobody cares about Royce, Dutch, or Isabella. Those stories were wrapped up in the comics.

I hated Predators, yet I really liked AvP2. Apparently, I am the only one who did. The comic pre-movie that came with the DVD for Predators was a better-written story, in my opinion. I would suggest the franchise go back to the OG movies P1 and P2. Why not bring back Adam Baldwin, not to mention Elpida Carrillo? Add to this the AvP sequel minor characters of Robert Joy and Francoise Yip.
Each character's role in the movies could lead to a different take on the franchise.
Imagine, after confronting Ms Yutani in AvP2, the US government discovers that they have been lied to by this mega cooperation for decades. Believing that the company's products were human-inspired, not from the Predators encountered over the decades. With this revelation, we discover the US government has begun a campaign to undermine Yutani by cutting off their trade with other countries and secretly sabotaging the company until Yutani turns over all 'alien' material related to the Predator Threat. This includes organic specimens, alive or dead, but most importantly, all equipment.
While Yutanni is very powerful and influential, they know they can't stop the US from making life miserable at best and deadly at worst. Want to take a trip to the Bahamas? Hopefully, there won't be a bomb on board. Want to eat some blowfish? Hopefully, the chef isn't a CIA assassin.
After some consternation, the company relents, but being forward thinkers, they don't give away everything. They don't hand over the 'survivors' from the Predators sequel. How they got their hands on them is insignificant. But what the survivors tell the researchers at Yutani makes even the most sociopathic corporate leader shutter. They confirm the Predators are even a greater threat than they had ever known. This isn't a new problem for Yutani. In fact, the founder of Yutani surmised their intentions many decades ago.
He was 19 years old and working for his father. Like his father, he was a brilliant scientist in the new field of atomic energy. His father and his friends were trying to perfect a nuclear bomb. The Nazis realizing their participation in the war was all but over, sent a secret U-Boat convoy to Imperial Japan. Fortunately, this multi-vessel convoy was intercepted or destroyed. But some remnants of the convoy made it to Japan.
As young Yutani and his father began to process all the Nazis had developed and learned, they, along with hundreds of prisoner-slaves, began to build a super-weapon to be used against the oncoming allied invasion. The next target would be somewhere in mainland Manchuria, later the Philliepeans, the USSR, and the USA.
During the removal of uranium by the prisoners, an accident occurs. The prisoners are exposed to massive doses of radiation and begin to die one after the other. Several specialists from Unit 731 are flown in to perform experiments on the patient- prisoners now terminal. Young Yatani, a loyal subject of the emperor with a nationalist zeal rivaling that of his father and godfather Tojo, is horrified by what he witnesses. It was bad enough that the prisoners weren't honorably executed, but to torture them in such a fashion was not only dishonorable but inhuman. The possibility of subjecting countless people who never threatened Japan to the horrors of radiation sickness is so frightening to imagine that he can barely think.
He sought guidance from his paternal grandfather before speaking on this with his father. A 'real' samurai in name and spirit, his grandfather can barely comprehend what such a weapon could do and the cost of honor and soul if young Yutani doesn't do something about it. His grandfather tells him every warrior must face the ultimate test; this was his.
He gives him his family's Katana, Wakisashi, and Tanto, whom he cared for when he fought the Russians many years ago. He explains, "Men such as these, including your father and godfather, will not understand reason; that is what the katana is for. If you feel you can do what needs to be done, then use the tanto and end your participation in evil, and die like the coward you are!" With that, young Yutani prepares himself for battle, not for honor or glory but for millions of people who will never know his sacrifice.
As he approaches the gates of the testing facility on his bicycle, he doesn't see any guards. Grasping his katana handle, he sees a crowd gathered around a wooden stake near the gates. Through the crowd, he sees two patient-prisoners with one arm tied to the wooden post. The scientists from Unit 731 are scribbling on a note and giggling, and the guards are beating the prisoners. Young Yutani has seen this torture before. The scientists want to see how long a patient can 'fight' while suffering from radiation injected into their hearts. If that wasn't, the grotesque fight isn't between the patient prisoners and the guards; it's between both patients. Tears begin cascading down young Yutani's cheeks. He climbs off his bicycle and starts walking toward the group. He decides the first to fall by his blade is the chief scientist. Followed by his assistant and hopefully, with the strength of his ancestors, every guard he can find, with his father and godfather being the last to fall. He prays at least one of the patient prisoners is strong enough to remove his head once he has completed his holy task. Bringing an honorable end to his participation in this unholy operation.
Before he draws his blade, he sees something in the sky, a trick of light? A semi-translucent apparition, maybe? No, it's something else. It is as big as an aircraft carrier, with electrical sparks sprouting from the edges where the rain falls. He sees this as a sign. A divine shield of air to prevent any weather from halting his progress.
He doesn't know until years later that the apparition is a cloaked spaceship whose occupants detected the radiation from the previous nuclear accident. As they approached the planet and hovered over the facility, they observed the torture of the prisoner-patients. They believed this was some form of combat and were going to engage the torturers. Before this could happen, a bright light like a thousand suns explodes just over them. The ship suffered the most damage shielding young Yutani, but the surrounding area, including the nuclear testing facility, was devastated. Days later, young Yatani discovers he's in a hospital recovering from the explosion. He is told his father, grandfather, and the entire city have been destroyed.
He remembers little before the explosion but recalls something just before he lost consciousness. After a few weeks of recovery, he returns to the destruction. The doctors were perplexed he wasn't suffering from burns or radiation sickness and wanted to keep him for further observation. He refuses, believing that if he survived, some within the testing may also have. If that be the case, his holy mission was not over. When he arrives, he finds no survivors and discovers material he does not recognize buried in the rubble. Those not familiar with the facility's inner workings pay no mind to the debris. But he intuitively knows the debris from that holy shield that hovered above him is wreckage.
After years of collecting the debris, he learns its secrets and some of the history of the pilots called "Yauja." Being the brilliant scientist he was, he reverse-engineered the remaining technology and began to 'sell' his inventions-a better transmitter there and a better antenna here-nothing too high-tech to raise suspicion.
Over the decades, he informs certain people within his company of what happened on that fateful day. They decide there is but one mission, one holy mission: to keep the world safe from monsters, both alien and human.
Then, a political incident occurred deep in Mezo, America. A group of American spies was sent to investigate but was captured. A group of Americans, this time special soldiers, was sent to rescue them, but all contact with that team was lost. Lastly, another group of soldiers, better described as warriors, was sent to rescue the spies, and only one warrior within the rescue party and one prisoner returned.
Afterward, Yutani knew that his plans were no longer viable and that a different, more proactive strategy of subterfuge had to be implemented. He gives covert orders to all his government, military, intelligence, and corporate spies he had developed over the years. "When inquiries are made regarding the 'Predator,' you must sabotage every operation to prevent individuals, groups, and governments from gaining understanding and access to the Yautja technology by any means necessary. Before young, now-old Yutani dies, he leaves this divine task to his daughter, hoping she may save the world. She did her best until a significant infestation and nuclear accident occurred in Colorado.
Royce and Isabelle most assuredly deserves a second shot, I always wanted them to collect all the aliens hardware for the incoming captives, to build their own army that turns the tables on the preditors! 😮
I wanted one of the captives to teach the humans all about the preditors tech and take over the game preserve eventually making the preditors run for it, and begin to fear the humans ingenuity!😮
I'm still waiting for a Jedi to show up.

I'd much rather see a direct follow-up to Prey. Prey was to the Predator franchise, as was Rogue One to Star Wars. Obviously, Rogue Ones' follow-up was Star Wars...the Predator franchise many has so many other historic dates they could visit leading up the original Predator.

They should make a predator film without humans. Just a predator on an alien planet, hunting different types of alien creatures. Split it into chapters and each chapter is a new hunt / creature.

They screwed up with predator 2. The novel takes place in nyc, with Dutch's brother "Shaffer" being hunted. That leads in to predator: cold war, which takes place in Siberia with Shaffer.
I love the first Predator movie. In fact it's my 3rd favourite movie of all time.
No Predator movie that came after never had a huge impact or truly rival the original. Much like Aliens did for Alien.
Prey comes pretty darn close. But it lacks good side characters. Them using the lines from the first movie just felt too cheesy.
Other than those things Prey is definitely a worthy Predator film. But it doesn't strike as being good or better than the original. So let's see if Predator 6 will do that.

All the Predator movies were horrible with bad writing and cheesy acting. Every movie that has a special forces team always has the "combat veterans" acting like a high-school football team. There is no discipline or self-control, and they don't think before wasting their ammunition by shooting up the jungle. If you are in a remote location or on an alien planet, then you don't shoot until you can see what you're shooting at because when your bullets are gone, you are defenseless. If a heard of animals is charging toward you, like in Predators, then stand behind a tree and save your bullets. At least in Predator 2, they were in the city, and they could get more ammunition and better weapons to fight the Predator. Modern action movies have constant shooting because the director thinks it makes the movie more exciting. If a soldier is shooting randomly hoping to hit something, it makes the soldier look incompetent. The only thing I like about the Predator movies is the Predator aliens and their gadgets/technology.
As a lifelong predator fan the only movies I acknowledge are parts 1 2 and predators. The rest are fuckin trash. Especially prey

People want to see SOMETHING NEW, not the SAME IDEA redone in different ways. It shows a lack of imagination from the studio and poor writing.
