I felt a little weird riding hookless wheels for the first time and I was at 73 psi front and rear and something about me standing up and throwing the bike side to side mentally I could not get past yet, so that is why the lack of side to side for the out of the saddle lol.
nice to see you on the bike bro and same here with the extra weight lmao its called the dad bod but that doesn't mean we can't have nice things and go fast lol I love my bike makes me go faster and feel way more comfortable than my aluminum bike helps with climbing too. Anyway great video !!!
It will be the Cofidis team riding the Van Rysel bikes ( I guess). They are already partnered with them or are sponsored by them but they raced Look bikes during the Tour. Van Rysel is actually sort of Belgian too because the name is in Flemish. No Cycling without Flanders or Belgium!
There are two versions on their site in France: 1) RCR PRO: 5500 euros in Ultegra Di2 and power meter (stage cycling), disc brake, Shimano Ultegra 8170 wheels in 36 cm height. The painted frame weighs 790 g in size M. 2) RCR: 4800 euros equipped with SRAM Force with Quarq sensor. Zipp firecrest wheel in 58 mm, disc brake. The painted frame weighs 830 gr. Either way, it's a very light frame for an aero bike. I have the visual impression that this size M fits you perfectly. Decathlon and more particularly Van Rysel (cycling branch of the group) continues to increase its quality, as well as for its textiles. They have expanded their range (Gravel, TT ..) and I think that there, they have done well.
I love seeing you come out of your "shell" so to speak. And i love you got a custom kit done. Reslly just adds another level of professionalism to these sort of videos. Looking forward to more of this stuff in the future. Continue to keep it real!

Great video. I love this kinda video, from someone who’s just like us, not a cycling coach, former pro, crit racer, etc. That said, you still produced crazy power. The van rysel sure looks good, just like the tarmac. I’m not sure about the name, but it really is a good looking bike. And it comes with good components, at a competitive price point. It’s always good when we have bikes like this one on the market.
I too enjoy 28mm tires after switching from 25mm. Lower pressure really is more comfortable. Didn't love the hookless Foundation 65 wheels at first because swapping tubes is harder, but it's growing on me.
This is super cool! Having lived in Belgium, Decathlon is pretty much the Dick's Sporting Goods of Europe. The store brand products they make are usually pretty solid.
Thank you GC for that. Well done. I ride that section once in a while too, live in Miami. Been riding a 2016 Fuji SL 2.1 since 2018. Put some Zipps on and she’s a goer. Tried to up my game with a like new S-works SL7 Red. But it wasn’t any faster than the Fuji. I ride for one hour at 20.5 mph. 62 yo and that’s as fast as I can go. I really tried to make the SL7 go faster than the Fuji. Even put spandex shorts on. Ended up selling it. Just wasn’t impressed. Thought it would be faster. Still want a new all rounder though. The RCR looks pretty sweet. Saw it on stage 4 of the Tour de Romandie today and looked it up. Appreciated your honest take. Sounds like the one for me. 👊
Nice work I was so surprised about completely different format of the video. Good job very like it. I’m impressed about your presentation and speaking flow skills
Lovely video! I like this review format as well. Oh and by the way, the popidy poppypopop of the Mustang is a natural thing as it gets(I love that sound), it's 'Merica after all :D . I live in Romania Bucharest City and here we have around 30 Decathlon stores, six in my city. They don't have this bike here. Most expensive Van Rysel bike they have is a CYCLOCROSS RCX II FORCE AXS 12S 1x drive and costs 3100 Euros.
Its doesn't seem to be "confirmed confirmed", but very probable that it will be AG2R. During the Tour Eurosport Germany presented it as a fact. And AG2R will apparently get Decathlon as a Co-Sponsor next year.
I'm 69 y.o. your height...a little over 6' only 176 lbs. I think I could hold your wheel in the draft. 🙂 Thanks for the review. Looks to be a nice bike. PS. as to your position, it looks right to me and I have been riding for decades. Don't believe you need a longer stem or more drop. Body angles look perfect. You have good form on the bike.
yea I made it work on here, the drop was a little high and I went a little lower on the seat then I would prefer, but it worked out great, felt over the cranks and felt comfortable
Nice one mate. I recommend the Decathlon winter cycling range to use if you don't want mess up your more expensive stuff. The winters are pretty harsh in Berlin and I need N+1 in case it gets super rainy and generally shitty.
Seems like the first review of this bike on the tube! Awesome...these are always out of stock here in europe though which is kind of a bummer. Would you choose this or an Aeroad CF SLX 7 etap with a sram rival?
Interesting bike. Triban 520 was my first road bike and I did not like the fact that Decathlon provided no support. Their motto was: take it to your bike shop. Well I like working on my bike and my preference would be to get the frameset but i rather doubt decathlon will offer that option for this bike
I have a Triban 500 and Decathlon here in Canada has provided good services. They have an in-house bike shop will a small team of full time mechanics, and provide a full suite of repair and maintenance services. OK, most of the bikes they do maintenance on can be called "leisure bikes" so they probably service a lot less high end road bikes than the average LBS.
I think they are working on this, from the team member I spoke with they are aiming to have beter customer relations, and also retail stores around every area as well, so I can not speak on this first hand but I know they want to get into a bigger market and have better cstomer service
Very nice review, very good job.🤝💪 I am myself a more heavy rider 🙂 i am a little bit concerned about the stiffness of the bike... You mentined several times that the bike is stiff... but hwo does it compared from stiffness point of view betwenn a SL7 and a Canyon aeroed ??? Greetings from Germany
@@the.communistyou can buy a crappy motorbike for that price. Want a motor bike that can race at a high level? You're not gonna get one for under $100k😂
@@veganpottertheveganYeah but you could get a pre-owned fun and fast motorbike to commute on or as a daily ride...I mean it's just silly the prices of bicycles. The principles of them are all the same and haven't changed much in the last 10 years, let alone the last 100. It's improvements designed for success in sport competing at the highest level where prestige and money all hang in the balance. Just throwing your money away buying expensive bikes as an amateur rider.
Thanks for the review, I was not expecting you to test this bike. Quite a crazy package for this price (4800€). Yet I am more on the gravel side of cycling and not ready to shell out 5k for a bike (yet?). My gravel comes from Intersport (Decathlon's rival, albeit a tad smaller) and has costed me 999€, and it is the most expensive bike I've ever bought. It gives me a lot of fun and I love it. An aero bike with tubeless tires and tubes installed is gonna be a rigid ride. Those tires have stiff sidewalls and you're throwing a tube in there. *Comfort is part of performance. There's a reason why Fabian Cancellara rode the Domane even on most flat races.
Interesting review and thanks for that. That saddle is quite stiff, been using it myself for 8 months but in the end I gave up on it. Being firm is ok but on long rides especially if you have wider thighs, the shape of it causes sores, because it's not T shaped but a bit wider towards the middle of the saddle, and being quite stiff makes it too much on the longer rides (130 km onwards) at least to me. It's a pity because I love the touch of it, it's grippy, and the looks are great, but I won't be using it on the day I'm gonna ride 200 km. And then, regarding bike stiffness, well, you're using tubeless wheels and that means you're probably within the recommended 73 psi even if were running tubes. If it's harsh at that pressure point with 28mm tires, then it definitely there's little you can do regarding comfort. That's probably caused by the wheels themselves, very deep stiff rims. Maybe the RCR Pro with shallower 353 NSW wheels is a little more forgiving on that regard. You would have probably enjoyed more the test on the bigger size, the front end looks too low for you, giving the impression you're stretched but you're not, you're just reaching a low handlebar.
Think also van rysal, across from them, is an aerodynamic facility they used for testing. If I remember from another TH-cam post upon the launch of this bike
Decathlon is our goto sports store in Europe particularly in France. They have a reputation for creating own in house brands and products. Normally very good price quality. For the high end bikes the issue is imo mostly snob value as there is limited resale market due to roadies buying mainstream brands.
Mr GC, “HI” from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺. The bod looks fine to me mate. Some riders look like they were born on a bike and some look like they’re giving birth to a bike. I am the latter 😂 but no one can beat me downhill, NO ONE!!
I see you have decided to show yourself. You look baller with that gold chain tho... Lol... I hope this is how your future videos will look like. It's really good.
All road racing bikes frame designs now are the result of computer calculations, so they all almost look the same, and with the same other components, give almost similar ride feeling. I’ve ridden some of my friends’ road bike, aside from groupset, I couldn’t tell the difference of ride feeling between those bikes. So, if you wonder which bike brand you should choose, pick the one you like the most, either your budget, favorite brand, or the most beautiful looking frame / paint according to you.

You would have probably enjoyed more the test on the bigger size, the front end looks too low for you, giving the impression you're stretched but you're not, you're just reaching a low handlebar.
yea I worked with what they sent me
This video seems next level editing and presentation. Appreciate your honest reviews and practical advice.
Cam guy is fast too! 😂
Ebike recording
Think also van rysal, across from them, is an aerodynamic facility they used for testing. If I remember from another TH-cam post upon the launch of this bike
yes they are working hand in hand with them to make a nice aero bike, and seems to do a really good job on it
Decathlon is our goto sports store in Europe particularly in France.
Hahahaa I love it!!!
@@GCPerformance18 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Looks like a SL7. More shops should be doing reviews like yours.
Thank you very much!!!
Great video! Looking forward to seeing where you take the channel to next 👌
Amazing idea this format, keep it going man!
Mate! The production 🎉
Thank you so much for enjoying it!!!
I've looked all over for this bike but don't see them available for sale yet? Glad to know it holds up to the chatter.
"Im not your Crit racer, im not your cycling coach" 🤣
you say you feel every imperfection in the road but what pressure did you put in the tyres? THANKS
Oups 73 psi in the comment
Yes yes :)
Awesome video Amazing Review and Great Camera Work….you are a Natural at this, we look forward to more videos like this…a very nice twist to the channel to keep it fresh and interesting…Awesome job and keep up the great work
Is nice bike dont get me wrong but if you really want spend that crazy amount of money for road bike , for 7000$ if you properly search and buy frame , parts separately you can built bike with dura ace or sram red with decent wheels (hooked) on it . Nice video by the way.
You should do more of these style of reviews. This was great!
I wil try my best to do more of these for sure
Can't forgive you got that uneven gap between the stem/bar clamp @2:20 my OCD just wont let me 🤣 sick bike GC. Looks like a solid choice for big/tall riders.Too many good bikes on the horizon right now, we going to get a full review of that winspace bike?
Never in stock here in europe. Looks nice though.
The World Tour team to ride these bikes in 2024 should be Cofidis. They allready use Van Rysel Jerseys and bibs
yes and those bikes look so sick
@@GCPerformance18 I love this offering from decatlhon. Here in Europe local bike shops hate it. You even get side eyed if you show up to their events with these bikes. Why are you promoting it?
Mm. Upgrade the camera? Looks crispy good.
thank
Decathlon website doesn't show this model
I think they are workign still to get stock lol
Are those tubes or tubeless ?
It is a hookless wheel but it has tubes in it
Nice to see the dad bod in full.. just like me 🙂
Florida man slices wind. Nice review.
HA!! thanks!!
you truly put some work in on that bike!! look at the handlebar tape😭jk
It came like that lol
In europe , it's not the only model, they have a lot of models !
Great content, the bike looks a lot like the Venge
Thank you man for this review!
Good review, thanks! :)
Would you personally go for the Rival model (Rival, Zipp 303S) for 4200€ or the one you tested (Force, Zipp 404 Firecrest) for 4800€?
all day the force, the force is a nicer group and also a nicer power meter and the wheels are much nicer, I dont get how the price is not thaat much different the force model is the way better buy
@@GCPerformance18 Thank you, appreciate it! I hope the Force model is available soon.
Hello, could you tell me how tall are you?
I’m 6 foot
Honestly!!! 👍
:)) thank you so much!!
maybe you wouldn‘t the bars while being in the drops if you had a longer stem / a bigger size frame?
do you recommend to buy it? please be clear
Yes this is a great bike to buy. I really enjoyed my time on it
@@GCPerformance18 what size do you have?
Hello friend. Very good review. Im intrestin in buyin this bike but dont know which size choose. Im 5.11 and im thinking about M or L . Which to choose?
Looks like a rebranded S-Works Tarmac SL7 to me... :D
Awesome new video style. Keep it going !!!
Really hope you guys will get the cheaper NCR CF model in the US as well. I got mine for 2400 euros with rival etap
It's kinda rare to have a un-bias review with a positive vibe in it nowadays when u're reviewing it. Enjoy watching your videos man. Keep doing what you do! P. S. It's ok to be thick if anyone were to fat shame you... Just follow how "woke" folks do😂 im thick too but that doesn't mean we can't excerise.
:)) thank you so much for this. It makes me so happy to hear these amazing words!!
you upped your game!
Thank you thank you!!
Excellent video. I would say the medium frame suits you well.
I wouldnt mind this bike if they gacve it to me lol, but if i was too buy a bike I would go 56 and lower the spacers in the front
This bike is ok, but tell decathlon to release the XCR, thats the cool looking one. Edit: also, why do the only make small sizes? I can understand the chinese brands making small bikes for a smaller population, but there are actual tall people in Europe.
Good review nice to see you on the bike 😊
