Another great tutorial! I particularly enjoyed this one as I visit the beautiful Isle of Arran often. If any of you have never had the pleasure I can not recommend it highly enough. The west coast sunsets during the summer are simply incredible!

Hi Adam, I've been watching your channel for quite some time now but this is the first time I've left a comment. Always enjoy your content but the simple text message at the end of the video particularly struck a chord with me. I spend hundreds of hours alone in the middle of nowhere, and to make matters worse as a nightscape photographer .. it's in the middle of the night. I relate to everything you said there and it's exactly how I feel. The adventure and the solitude can be the most exhilarating time and we need to embrace and enjoy it. Thanks again. Richard

I think the reason I love this video so much is because Isle of Arran was the location of the first ever youtube videos that I recorded. Being an Australian, going to Scotland it was special enough, right?! But to have those memories of this being where my photographic (youtube) journey started is just that extra special. A big thanks Adam for bringing this video out mate, loved it. I almost feel like a local to the island haha.

been to Arran at least 25 times over the years, we used to camp in Lochranza in the north west of the island. i have stood on top of every peak, some of them more than once, Arran is my favourite place in Scotland and i have many fond memories of holidays as a child, then when i was married and had a family i took them too......wish i'd been into photography back then, but it's a recent hobby, thanks for the vid, i have subbed and am grateful for the tips and advice.

Adam I’ve been loving your vlogs. Arran is a very special place for me and I’m lucky enough to have been there 100+ times over the years. Just a wee point for clarification - the triangular shaped mountain you were shooting in Glen Rosa from the lovely waterfall on Rosa Burn is actually Cir Mhor with the “Witches Step” behind it. Goat fell is to the right of your shot. Super stuff. Hope you managed to try some of Arran’s flavourful produce.

Great video - thank you, Adam. We visited Scotland for the first time in the fall, hiking in the Highlands for several days, and then spending several more between Skye and Lewis/Harris. The weather was predictably rough everywhere we went, but that did not deter us from being captivated by the wild beauty of the locations. I would like to have been able to spend months on the Isle of Harris alone, just trying to capture images that portrayed its exquisite landscapes.

Another great video, Adam, especially that sky at the end. That must be looking towards the Mull of Kintyre or the Antrim coast in Northern Ireland on the other side of the water. I’ve seen Arran and the Mulll from the Antrim coast and have always wanted to go to Arran and the Mull to see across the other way. On a clear day, they say with a good pair of binoculars you can see from the Antrim coast a farmer ploughing a field in Scotland.

I visited that place back to the 80s when I was not yet a photographer. If a remember well, I visited a famous botanical Garden there as the climate helps a lot to have there some exotic plants on the west side of Scotland. Was from Switzerland. But now live in Patagonia. Maybe I see you here one day. Greetings,

Hi Adam. Great video and it's brilliant to see a vlog from Arran. I've lived within sight of the island for the past 23 years and just yesterday said to my better half that I really should get over there to do some photography... Your video has reinforced that, so I've added it to my list for 2019.
You're absolutely correct in what you said about the ferry services. Whilst I don't live on an island, the ferry is still the primary method of getting to the rest of the world from where I live as the route via road is twice the distance and can be prone to closure because of land slides. I moved here from London and wouldn't want to live anywhere else. It's a forgotten corner of Scotland as everyone bypasses it to get to Glencoe and Skye etc... I've been thinking of starting a vlog to promote the area. Maybe when I retire and no longer have a full on job...
    Great content. Keep it up.

Fantastic landscape in Scotland! You might also want to explore Wales though as we have miles and miles of rocky coastline with secret little bays, sandy beaches, stone beaches, and plenty of completely unspoilt landscape around Snowdonia, Brecon Beacons with e.g. it's 'waterfall country', Pembrokeshire coast, not to mention Elan Valley and numerous lakes and reservoirs. We get foul weather too, but usually not quite as brutal as Scotland 😄

Adam, you should try to come to Norway one day. Everybody is out photographing the fjords and Lofoten, but I live in the eastern part of Norway, and we have a fair few landscapes to photograph here too. Especially huge mountain landscapes like Femundsmarka or Dovrefjell are something you can very much photograph.

You are definitely inspirational for me. I moved to an area with the whole plan of getting out and experience nature more. In the past 2 years, I've done the exact opposite due to a horrible work schedule. I'm trying to change that but it is hard in the winter to get out and do something adventuresome. I used to do it as a part of a meetup group. Just got to find a way to get me out from behind the monitor or the cell phone and get out into the world and explore. Thank you for the thoughts you expressed at the end of this video.

Hi Adam, Arran is a lovely island with plenty of photographic opportunities. Goat Fell is well worth the hike but gets quite tiring towards the rough final ascent. Just a point, your view up Glen Rosa to the pyramid shaped mountain is actually Cir Mhor with the A' Chir ridge behind. Goat Fell is visible on the far right of your shot.

I have a developing interest in cinematography and photography and have been using my Samsung S9 for 1080p 60fps but want to get a DSLR. I know I want a Canon for autofocus and colouring but not sure what to get. Canon 80D would be stretching my budget to say the least... but I feel like it would be a good investment. Is there a cheaper alternative that has all the same functionality and near enough the same quality?

Thank you Adam for this video. Isn't it the same Arran Islands which inspired J.M Synge to write his famous one act play, The Riders to the Sea? That has been such a favourite of mine right from my college days. Charles Kingsley's poem says: But men must work, and women must weep,
Though storms be sudden, and waters deep,
And the harbour bar be moaning.
Your video made me relive those lines and the text as well, especially, the last two images

Whoa, so weird to see you in my neck of the woods! Arran is excellent, it can be super easy to shoot & it can be extremely challenging too.. Glen Rosa, with its yellowy ochre tonal range is pretty hard to make work without the right conditions.
PS, Goatfell is the thick slope on the right, not the jagged peak :)

I love Scotland but it's been about 15 years since I last visited unfortunately. I need to make the effort to go. Also in windy conditions you would do yourself a lot of favours by using an L-bracket. Your camera will be more stable on the tripod. Great video as always
