Been singing the praises of the Mega5EST since November. This IEM has taken the industry by storm!
As a lifetime Hydro Homie, career graphs sniffer (I'm a mechanical engineer). The Hisenior Mega5EST is everything I've ever wanted out of an IEM: details, separation, BASS, clarity, timbre, fit (mine is CIEM). All that while doing a delicate balancing act to keep everything working together. It has made all my other IEM and heaphones sound...off. And as DMS said, it does come dangerously close to the HE-1, similar details to what I heard on the HE-1, but the HE-1 is simply holographic. I just wish the HE-1 had the bass of the Mega5EST (I don't own the HE-1 just heard it one or twice). Would buy again.

@@mehmetgurdal M5E vs Quitet: The Quintet is more V shaped and thus a bit more spicy. The M5E is more laid back and refined. To my ears they have a similar general tonality/sound profile and if you like one you will probably like the other. But as Crin mentioned, you don't want to pick the M5E if you're looking for spice or "interesting" sound. It Mega (pun intended) natural and middle of the road as far as sound profile goes. It's technical execution is perfect for it's profile. They're like high quality comfy socks.
@@Ucalegon_ I'm not actually a fan of quintet's stock tuning either; I don't hate it but I've refined it a little bit more via eq: I've dialed down the treble a little and boosted the lower mids just a little so it would sound more like my hd560s.
I'm really happy with the results and would like to try alternative eq profiles.
But it's driver configuration makes really hard to work on it; I'm trying to boost the 10k but it boosts 7k more than I want.
Other than that I really love it
This is the most highly endorsed iem in recent memory. Gozaudio Timmy says it's his daily driver, and DMS says it's the iem he loves more than headphones

im reading on forums voltage thread whenever ppl ask mega5est vs voltage, everyone who has heard both said voltage is a step up. 1 or 2 said subjective preference. both are balanced tuning. however crin and others won't be able to put voltage in their stores since voltage is sold by penon only. which is probably why only akros has reviewed it.
i cant believe DMS's hype on mega5est though, as none of the reviewers or forumers even remotely reflects DMS's crazy positive experience (so DMS's ears/hrtf are so different from average his iem reviews don't apply i guess).
And rightfully so; manufacturer has a clear understanding of tuning.
İt measures just like my preference for both hd560s and edition xs.
I've been developing my tastes for a good 3 years and this iem offers me just that.

Oh why I'm so obsessed with the tuning of my headphones ? Well TOTL gear has a basic level of tuning approach and I find them to be more pleasant than say like targets like harman.

You can swear.. Do it in Chinese or Malay. I don't like the graph for variations. Hate the dip between 200-300hz. There is tons of killer stuff in the $200-300 range. Very good iem. The upgrade path from this would be the Thieaudio Prestige LTD. Basically a endgame Mega5EST. Sacrifice some bass slam for more faster, detailed, better textured and better separated low end. Mids are very similar but the Prestige LTD is again, more detailed, better separation, better layering, and again, similar treble yet the Prestige LTD is again, more detailed, smoother, better refined. The Prestige LTD also stages larger, has better layering and imaging.... Yet the Mega5EST does offer insane value for what you get.
Remember, it's the Mega5EST 7th Anniversary Edition. Not the other version.

I owned sub $200 IEMs before this, so I’m not coming into this blind…but the moment I put on the Mega5est, the improvement sounded immediately. Even my Harman spoiled ears loved listening to music endlessly on the mega5est.

Where is ranking
You can perfectly safely assume that it's ranked at least the same as Variations if not higher. I'd guess it would be higher on tonality (S+) while being a bit lower on "technicalities" (A- or B+) metrics. And that's basically all you need to know.

About iems, at the very moment I just own Dunu Kima (1st), Zero 2 and Chu II.
Well, while the latters sound so accommodating, easy to listen and smooth, they are just 2D.
While the dunu kima have a brilliant 3d sound!
Plus a great soundstage!
How come they are so underrated???
They sound even better than the praised Titan S, so what's the deal?
And I just got them "by mistake" only coz they were on a super sale for 44€ in market sale in Taipei, while there for holidays! So no praise at all.
Ain't shitting on the chu II And zero 2 but the dunu kima are on another level. It's just what my ears hear. Nothing else.
I hope, someone will understand my words. The Kima have high resolution and 3d sound compared to the ultra budget ones.
