QUICK THING! It was announced (after this video was made) that there may be a Kickstarter campaign starting soon for season 4. If you want to help the show BEFORE that starts, then watch it on Netflix to increase viewership. That's THE BEST way to help as of right now. Lol I already have my brother watch it on repeat since it is very hard on me to rewatch episodes I've always seen. Did the same for young justice when it was on Netflix. Kinda regret it cuz it was put up on the new dc streaming service and behind a paywall when I was hoping Netflix would get it.
Hi, French dude here. Ankama is a big thing back here, not only because of their amazing game that just took the entire country by storm but also because of their great worlds. I remember back in elementary school my friends showing up with a bunch of Dofus manga and just chilling outside reading them together, and waiting every week for a new Wakfu episode when it started airing. Also, did you know? Most of the different classes/races are just well-known brands and words that have been flipped, or play on words. The Sadidas is Adidas backwards, Sram = Mars, Eniripsa = aspirine, Xelor = Rolex, Cra = arc (bow in French), Ecaflip = pilface (heads or tails in French with a letter missing for some reason), Enutrof = fortune, and so on.
Saying Dofus(MMORPG) took the country by storm is an understatement, back in the days, everyone played it, pretty much anyone that was a kid/teen back when it released have at least tried it.
D'accord d'accord, je viens d'essayer avec les autres classes... Ce qui veut dire que j'ai aussi essayé de mettre le mot "Osamodas" à l'envers GRAVE ERREUR T..T 😅
Emile you forgot to say that the Dofus mag was stopped in 2014. The same year they celebrated the ankama 10th anniversary. And don't forget to add that Wakfu season 4 is currently in production as I wrote thoses words. PS : If wakfu is the "vitrine" for the Krosmoz world that Ankama create, dofus is their game that is the most play, even if wakfu and Dofus Touch (a free version of dofus on mobile, that don't required to pay to have acces to the game or the pay a subscription to play the game like Dpfus the game on PC) are doing as well.
Teacher: everyone share your weekend When it's my turn Everyone: WE KNOW YOU WATCHED WAKFU THAT TRASH ANIME Me: walks of room with 28 dead teens and 1 dead teacher Also me: ok that'll teach em
Yugo is from an alien species called eliatropes which consists of eliatropes (yugo) and dragons Edit: Am writing this as Eliatropes because i watched the original (in french) and they are called eliatropes in french not eliotropes
A nice hybrid of Anime and Western Animation. More people need to do that, I still think that the most potential lies in a hybrid of the 2 styles, and Wakfu is the biggest example of what I want.
I tried to watch Wakfu and enjoy it, but the English voice acting is... not so good, to put it bluntly. 😓 So I tried to watch it l, muted. There was mix results. Oh yeah, it only ran one season when in aired in my country. Apparently from what I heard, the original dub French sound a lot better than the English dub. Not only that, the story is still ongoing, for a few seasons.
16:30 "Sadidas are my favorite races" Intense lore time : Every "Races" in Wakfu are Classes, they're all humans by default. Basically, the worshipping of a god change your physical apparence, you can either born worshipping a god, and then you already have your class's apparence at birth (according to some sources souls get a choice of which baby they want to born into), or you can born as a godless baby, in which case you get to chose a god before your teenage hood and get your apparence and power either with the puberty or during a ritual (it's not clear and probably depends on the god and era in which you live). In the MMOs you incarnate, so you directly appear in an adult, changed by your worshipping way. 19:30 : It pronounce "té" we added the h because it looked pretty, it's the french word for tea.
I'm sorry, but how are the villain's motivations "hard to follow"? Nox: A devoted father and husband, as well as a brilliant horologist and clock-maker who wanted to improve the lives of his family via the Eliacube he found, only for him to be corrupted by it. His family leaves him, they get swallowed by the sea, and he succumbs to madness. In order to bring them back and fix his mistakes, he takes it upon himself to use the power of the cube and of his inventions to plunder the world of its Wakfu and feed it to the cube. Doing so he could reverse time, reunite with his family and undo all of the damage he did to the world. Quilby: An Eliatrope who doesn't forget his past lives when he reincarnates, which drove him to the point of madness. Experiencing the same things, over and over, never being able to forget them. He grew bored with his world and wanted to travel the stars and visit other planets. He wanted to bring the other Eliatropes with him, since he didn't want to feel lonely. Because nobody understood his situation and even refused to join him, he made a deal with a race called the Mechasms to destroy his home-world and force his people off it. This resulted in the death of every adult Eliatrope, and his imprisonment by Yugo into a dimension where he suffered a fate worse than death. When he was freed from the dimension, he sent our heroes on a mission to retrieve his sister's Dofus, and then leave the World of Twelve with his ship, which would ravage the entire planet. Ogrest: An accidental creation from Ogrines and a piece of candy a long time ago by a Feca alchemist named Otomai. He was infatuated by Dathura and for her, he tracked down and acquired the powerful Six Primordial Dofus, and in doing so gained more power than the gods of the World of Twelve. Unfortunately, the deceptive and manipulative Dathura only cared about the Dofus and, in a fit of woeful rage, he willingly threw her into an abyss. He then grievously trudged to the peak and summit of Mount Zinit to despair, mourn, and everlastingly cried, alas, causing the great deluge that flooded the World of Twelve, dividing it into the various Nations and lands that we know now in the Wakfu era. Oropo: Alongside his people, was created by a time warp when Yugo fought Ogrest using the Six Eliatrope Dofus. This led to the accidental creation of the Eliotrope people in Yugo's image. The time warp scattered them throughout history, causing them to exist in the world thousands of years prior to their own creation. However, over the years, each Eliotrope died from one reason to another, until Oropo was the last; he lived for so long because whenever an Eliotrope died his or her power would be added to another still-living Eliotrope, which increased their power and added to their natural lifespan. His age-long life, combined with his identity crisis of being Yugo and yet not, left him insane and bitterly vengeful against both his creator and the gods who didn't hear his people's prayers and sought to replace them. To that end, Oropo worked from the shadows to set into motion many a series of events in order to weaken the gods power. Such as manipulating Dathura and Ogrest's relationship leading to Ogrest's Chaos, and when the time was right, he made sure Nox found the Eliacube. He also began gathering his brotherhood of replacement gods, recruiting their demigod children by preying on their bitterness towards their divine parents. Though his plans were coming to fruition, his own life was reaching its end and he would soon vanish. This made him even more determined to see his plans through.
I think your analysis is correct in that it was what was intended by the writers, and I can appreciate what they were going for with regard to Oropo's motives, but I think it felt poorly communicated and executed in comparison to the other villains (and I'm not referring to the confusion because of the eliAtrope/eliOtrope thing). To be fair while Ogrest's motives aren't made super explicit, the narrative in the 3 part special didn't make it feel like it was super necessary to have a huge excursion into his back story with everything else going on, and he did end up getting something to that effect anyways. Sure there's the mangas and other supplemental materials, but it felt like there just wasn't quite enough stuff fleshing out Oropo's motives given how it had set him up (and I do think it initially set him up to be interesting). That might all be due to pacing though as season 3 was half as long in comparison to the previous seasons.
Adamais reason was dumb like ogrest had to be deafeted or else he would destroy the world and the only way was to use the dofus like WTF? Also he "killed" tristpan (dali) which I thought didn't fit him at all like he was like is brother (from the brotherhood) he didn't had to kill him in order get what he wanted and he would never kill him to get what he wanted especially considering the kids and wife that also would never collaborate if he killed him. He basicly died and got resurrected by rubilax (again)
Amalia I can kinda see since, Oropo is but, also isn't Yugo and he knows how to manipulate people. So knowing what he knows, he knew how to manipulate Amalia But still I agree she was a dumb to fall for it.

@@jonryder7269 well, I kinda liked the whole concept of it, the first episode is pretty epic, some of the character development is nice, animation is even better than before. But the actual main villain in general and the final episode especially sucks so much that it brings the whole thing down.
Wakfu is just amazing, there's just so much power to it. *spoiler alert* Towards the end of the first season when Dally 'dies' and is held in Eva's arms as he says he's not dying he's becoming a legend. The amount of emotion that I felt is indescribable and for a show like this too. At the end though is what really got me was when Eva simply says "Let's become legends togetger." was just heart breaking I couldn't help but just tear up at that it was so emotional. This show is ridiculously underrated and is absolutely amazing.

Honestly, that's the only reason why I switched the English subtitles to the Spanish ones. I couln't bear to read "Dally" every time someone would call him "Pinpin".

1. Thank god its still on Netflix 2. I like the English dub! It’s how I was introduced and I laughed when the dub got a little bad. 3. I NEED THAT SEASON 4! 4. I liked season 3. It wasn’t that bad plus it has Todd Haberkorn one of my favorite voice actors and he did a surprisingly good job as Adamai
@@zahramughal4956 we are having a season 4, the kickstater did better than expected, also I think france télévision decided to take it back, so more budget for it
the third season was originally written to have 26 episodes but netflix decided to only give them the funds to produce 13 episodes, so this is why the season 3 is obviously the worst one
I'm 18 and I used to watch wakfu at 6 in the morning every day before primary school I just found it on Netflix 2 days ago and I have already binge watched it it's weighting is amazing and it is the first time I have gone back and looked at something I watched when I was little and liked it more it aged good and I need the 4 season
I think Wakfu is making a lot of folks proud of their heritage. It got me back into learning French, and being of French & French-Canadian descent, my family is very happy about it (though depressed they can't buy me stuff; only merch I've been able to get was a Dofus plushie of a Tofu, a bootleg backpack with game art of a Iop, and cards).

You've also all the movies from Michel Ocelot (Azur et Azmar, Princes et princesses, Kirikou), everything that's made by ankama, or older things like le roi et l'oiseau or la planète sauvage
One major thing I was confused about was how it felt like the Eliatrope children in the other dimension thing was brushed over. Anyone else feel like that was the case? Or am I forgetting something.
This show is one of my favorite pieces of fiction of all time. I remember when I would binge-watch this show late into the night, hooked on the adventures of the Brotherhood of the Tofu. I still rewatch Grougal vs. Nox to this day, and I'm so biased towards this show that I actually liked season 3. There's no way that something this gorgeous could ever be denied another season. It will happen, my friends, we just have to wait. It may not be tomorrow, or even the next few years from now, but it will happen. If there's one thing I've learned is that fans have power. We just need faith, and continue to support Ankama with all of our hearts.
So deeply blessed to see someone else feel as passionately about this as I do. I keep telling people that fans gotta stand in unity if they want to support what they love & do all that they can to help spread the love/spread word of it's existence. We're the "Brotherhood of Wakfu"!
You are super lucky in my opinion. You have friends that you can talk to about the show! I am actually obsessed with this show's lore, and I know I will go insane once season 4 comes out.
I discovered it on 2014 Cartoon Network. It was like season 2 end and I really didn't see the plot and closed the TV and guess what. I found it on Netflix and it looked stupid to me but yeah, when I watched it oh my god. It's sad that the show is so underrated.
I remember absolutely falling in love with Wakfu's first season and then loving all the other things. But the third season was just so weird. As a kid, I liked the reveal because it was unexpected, but I didn't like the deeper/different voice actors. And I remember the tower was boring. Still have absolutely fond memories of it, and rewatched several times since then
because it was rushed, they couldn't do what they want in only 13 episodes, but weren't allowed to have more sadly, the worst is that, the season had a great potential when you look deep into it
"I really hope I pronounce his name right" He says, after having completely butchered the names of the cards But anyway I actually didn't know they released Wakfu in the west, I'm glad because this show is my childhood and it's pretty amazing Also, yes magazines are beginning to die here too, that feels like a global thing to me x)
Ed SkyNight I like when yugo pulled the cube and the sword with the dragon thing going around him, it was cool man, i actually died at this part, i loved it, it was awesome! I believe that nobody likes wakfu anymore, im sad : (
ImWolfpup How could they have forced it? They just put the show on the site. They didn’t make the show, neither did they have a cast do the voices for the English dub...did they?
@@johnderat2652 I did watch the OVAs. I still disliked it. It was boring, nothing was happening, it kept introducing characters I didn't care about, the characters interactions were dull and uninteresting. I understood why things were happening as they were, but I hated how it was executed.
Well, I'm sorry to say it this way but it kinda did. For example, some mistakes: -Yumalia (Yugo x Amalia) not being canon. -Rushed ending and final battle. -Oropo didn't explain how he got the eliacube. -Oropo steals the kiss and betrays Echo. -Cleome, Chibi, Alibert, Grougal and Phaerys died when the universe exploded. -Oh, and basically, Oropo didn't destroyed the universe, only a timeline of it. Timelines are fragments that alternate time itself to a different future. -Echo could have sent more people to Inglorium. -Ruel left Junior in the drill machine. -Efrim never showed up in the series. -Where were the other 3 eliatropes? -To many mental struggles for Yugo and the rest of the brotherhood. -Adamai not analyzing the wakfu currents of the dofus and the eliacube. -Evangelyne didn't take much action. -Phaerys didn't join the final fight. -Yugo was still a kid, thou he's 20. -Percedal didn't had fun in battle like he used to before (believe me, we all loved him when he was a hotheaded iop brain).
Well technically season 3 was originally meant to have 26 episodes total but stuff happened and we got stuck with the 13 we have. Season 4 which is getting kickstarted(go support it if you can and want to) is basically the 2nd half of it
Jslayer King well it’s not like they were getting much money for it at all. Luckily they can do this fourth season because they raised 1.5 million euros (or dollars? Euros I think...) during the kickstarter
I grew up with this, I feel it's like the French speakers' "avatar the last air-bender" in a way. I still love it so much! I own many of the developpement/art books from Wakfu and Dofus because I love the art so much. They created such a great franchise ! I remember going to cons and getting merch from their booth !
Me never seeing this youtuber before: Hmmmmmmmm Negative Legend: Wakfu is the bees knees the chocolate sauce on my banana split the cream for my coffee Me again: Could this person be one of my people?
Developer said that even if they don't make a new season, he will finish story of Wakfu through comics or books, because he doesn't want to just end it on a cliffhanger. But yeah, new season would be very welcome
so I know its a bit late to say this but given the season 4 kickstarter goals was 100,000 Euro and they made one and a half Million I think its safe to say interest is doing just fine which is great because I f**king love this franchise
I didn't liked the set up because it lead to much unanswered the first season had an ending but with somethings still unanswered like his family that was a great ending satisfying but still craving for more
@azfadel they just need money, they have already write all the story of the Season 4 and know what to do, the only problem is money (sorry for my bad english 😅)
It suffered the same fate as the tv show Gargoyles. That the first two seasons were great, but season 3 was terrible. They tried to continue the series in comic book format, but got canceled. It seems to be the curse of the 3rd.
ajshim dam my dad said they fired all the the original writers for Gargoyles which made season 3 terrible I wonder if they did that for Wakfu too Or not Who knows

The "book" that is advertised in the magazin at around 12:20 is actually a manga, this specific one was kinda like a backstory about Vampyro's ancestor (vampyro the flashy vampire in wakfu season 1 ep 6) (the ancestor being the elvis looking vampire dude in the add) and the "Ombrage" ring that turned Vampyro in the series.
Im glad someone brought up wakfu! I remember getting started on this show because of a sickness lol. I loved the dally x eva dynamic the most throughout the series, i loved the three part series that started season three, this show is a masterpiece and i really hope they make season 4.

I loved this series when I was younger! it's so cool to see I wasn't the only one who found this rare gem. I'll definitely have to rewatch it and try to find those shorts I never knew existed, I'm pretty sure I still have the game on my steam too lol
3:43 the 3rd season was the best because of how ankama have mastered flash (its so beautyfull), but mostly cause it was produced by netflex and not the TV, so no fillers and others things in the requirements sheets for animated series for kidz (iykwim). But even they can produce a better series, they don't have the ressources tout make it proppely , that's why season 3 is a half of a season. PS: YOU GOT TO SEE THE OAVs BEFORE.

I love Wakfu's character design a lot. All of them are so visually appealing and their animations are so full of life.
Same here.
A nice hybrid of Anime and Western Animation.
More people need to do that, I still think that the most potential lies in a hybrid of the 2 styles, and Wakfu is the biggest example of what I want.
@Lord Admiral Spire It's an art style in my opinion, doesn't matter who worked on it and where.
I tried to watch Wakfu and enjoy it, but the English voice acting is... not so good, to put it bluntly. 😓
So I tried to watch it l, muted. There was mix results. Oh yeah, it only ran one season when in aired in my country.
Apparently from what I heard, the original dub French sound a lot better than the English dub. Not only that, the story is still ongoing, for a few seasons.

You should be writing books with how good you described these guys.
I followed their story easily but oropo i couldn't follow the story even a bit
Damn, you can really write a vivid explanation to each antagonists motivations.
Jeez this is like fromsoft level character building.
Amalia pissed me off in season 3
"Im gonna fall in love with this strange villain. This is a good thing"
Adamai was a dumb in season 3.
So knowing what he knows, he knew how to manipulate Amalia
But still I agree she was a dumb to fall for it.

@@hannes2211 Like I said on your other comment, it's not confirmed yet. Just a rumor that it will happen. Expecting to hear nothing until maybe January, once Ankama gets current projects finished (Dofus music rehaul, starting over the Well of Dreams in Dofus, dealing with the beta testing results from Waven, etc.).
@@CelestialSwordKaz ToT (the creator) said that Netflix won't help for a new season, and also said that if they don't find enough money, they are gonna do a comic for season 4 and 5,
(ToT is officially working on it, sorry for bad english)
Yessss wakfu literally been a fan since the start

It is genuinely SO entertaining to watch American people going crazy on shows that were my childhood ! I'm glad you liked Wakfu, Ankama has its flaws but it's undeniable that they know how to create worlds and make them interesting. I remember watching Wakfu and playing the MMORPG Wakfu when I was young and it made me so happy to see how beautiful it was and made me have hope to become an artist eheh. Great video as always.
I was NOT expecting to see some Radiant love thrown into this video, but I ain't complaining!
I vividly remember watching this but couldn't remember the name at all.
I tried searching for it on Google a couple of times but could never find anything
After a while I gave up and forgot about it (well not really this show remained always at the back of my head)
Then today TH-cam raccomandation just shows this video from a TH-camr I've never watched about a topic I've never searched for.
And even though the thumbnail shows nothing my first thought was... it's talking about that show
I click on the video and OMG it's there, I don't understand why it's here or how I knew it was this but I'm so glad I clicked on this video
Well now I'm subscribed to this channel
It's fate
Wakfu is a true hidden gem. It brings me joy when the cartoon/anime community talk about it.
I remember watching this last year. One of the best shows. I wasn't the only one exposed to this show because of the zone tan animation right?
Me too buddy too bad Zone will never do a wakfu parody again thanks to that
Zone's parody did indeed hook me too.
There is a ZONE animation of this!? MMM... I'm gonna check it out.
ZONE just make the parody from the good show. That's make the show more .... famous i guess
Same man and I don't regret it
Nox's story made cry some real manly tears.
I remember watching this on my while I was a child I can't believe it someone found it
I've had this show on my watchlist for a while. Guess it's time I finally get started on now that you've said its decent
Squidxx 1819 ITS AMAZING!!! REALLY GREAT SHOW, before season 3 you MUST, watch “The quest of the dofus” (something like that) so you don’t get lost cuz a LOT happens in those 3 eps.
How is WAKFU FINISHED AAAAAA, AND NOW HOW IS IT STARTING AGAIN YESSSS
AND IT'S BACK !!!
There's a trailer for Season 4 up right now. And the kickstarter is open !!
Do you know if s4 is still going to happen?
@@TheLadyOfRagee Absolutely ! It's in the works, but it's going to take a while, I think. Tot, the creator, said they had found a broadcaster a whiiiile back though !
@@corruptedteka oh ok, thank you
@@TheLadyOfRagee You're welcome-
I before I start let say this, I love wakfu, it's lore, its races and its characters, my favs are Yugo,Amalia,Cleophee and Elaine Narrowsmith. However I have some issues for the show especially when it comes to Yugo's aging and Yugo and Amalia relationship. For starters Yugo and Amalia are OTP, ship them together before the ova and season 3 came out but Dear God Tot why did you do them so dirty like that, make up your mind Tot do you want them to be togetheror not but I know that Tot has a hard on for bittersweet stories and for Yugo aging well it is both Tot and TV networks fault. You Tot wanted Yugo to grow up to be an adult but the TV networks didn't want they wanted him to stay a kid so Tot literally went back to the lore and rewrote the lore that Yugo race age slowly WTF Tot
Also I have some wakfu manga and comics if you guys want them
Totally agreed like if they didn't wanted yugo to age why fast forward the years so much between season 2 and 3
@@AndreSantos-kv1nr I think it was marketing
@@AndreSantos-kv1nr They had to rewrite and tone down a lot of S3 due to their main partnership with French TV broadcast aiming animation shows for 8-12y old kids. And Book 1 - Julith had a catastrophic distribution in cinemas, hence why they started switching to crowdfunding and Netflix: To get more creative liberty and worldwide exposure.
@@Biouke you're saying they kept yugo looking young to appeal to younger audices?
I remember watching wakfu when I was younger and I re watched all the episodes and I still love it like crazy.
When I first got into Wakfu again after a bit I accidentally skipped over The Quest For The Six Dofus and I got so annoyed with myself that I forced myself to rewatch the whole show and include it.
Same
I accidentally watched most of the first episode of The Six Dofus before I watched the first sires. I shiver at the thought of watching Percival's death and Eva's mourning not knowing he would be back.
When they changed voice actors in season 3, that's when I stopped watching it. The huge shift in story telling also killed me.
Season 1 & 2 really didn't have good voice acting. Season 3 got a more official casting (or at least more experienced) because it actually got a funded dub and not a kickstarted one.
Da fact yall doing watching english, spanish,or whatever. French sub is the best. It makes it watchable.
Just watch subs not dubs
@@donottouch9180 the Portuguese one is also awesome at least they don't proununce things differently and don't change the main character name to something boring like Dali
@@AndreSantos-kv1nr I refuse.
This show smashed! I got my mom into it and she was hooked! Now she watches loads of anime
Oh my god, I am french and a big fan of Wakfu since forever and I was dying to see a video on TH-cam about it from a non french TH-camr ( the show is not particularly well known in France so I had very few hope ) so a big thank you for talking about it and doing it justice.
LMAO the french while reading the cards had me rolling
FINALLY! YOU'RE FINALLY TALKING ABOUT WAKFU YEEEEEEEEEEES
I've re-watch the entire series 4 times! And never been unsatisfied!
Its just THAT good!
Edit:I realized I have posted two comments on here with two different answers, let me explain, the time I posted this comment I only counted the times I watched it alone, while my other comment counts the times I watched it with my siblings.
The "book" that is advertised in the magazin at around 12:20 is actually a manga, this specific one was kinda like a backstory about Vampyro's ancestor (vampyro the flashy vampire in wakfu season 1 ep 6) (the ancestor being the elvis looking vampire dude in the add) and the "Ombrage" ring that turned Vampyro in the series.
it's JuliT, the "h" is mute in french. And yeah, in France magazines are still very popular.
Im glad someone brought up wakfu! I remember getting started on this show because of a sickness lol. I loved the dally x eva dynamic the most throughout the series, i loved the three part series that started season three, this show is a masterpiece and i really hope they make season 4.
“This show...is the bee’s knees.”
Why thank you

As If France is not a part of the West. One of the core ones, actually.
How to tell if somethings in the west
Was it invaded by the British if yes it's in the west if no it's somewhere else
hypnochonk so india and hong kong and the philippines are in the west? doesn’t hold up lol
@@sklxx7359 I have been informed England isn't even in the west and I would like to retract my statement
I didn't even know half of these short stories existed. Shit... gotta watch these at 1 am RIGHT NOW.
I love your broken french accent, please talk about more french cartoons !
I thought season 3 was the best to me. I know the fights was crazy tho, i can't wait for season 4 it going be epic
For all who are craving for more Wakfu, Season 4 is out now, and man that was no dinner. That was a FEAST!!
The funny part is that I created most of my online nicknames using wakfu in the name
And then there's folks like me who used the last name of their first online OC combined with the name of their favorite attack from Wakfu. High-five for fandom passion!
I'll wait as long as it takes for season four, I binged season three the day it came out
How was it?
It first aired on France 4, so wasn't it produced by France 4 ?
