    That’s probably one reason I’ve lifted bigger weights at age 54 than 38. At 38 I was living in S Florida along A1A with all the light pollution, motorcycles and Ferraris at 2am. Now I’m way off a dead end road in South Bumblefuck Ohio and it is so quiet and so boring. Maybe I’ll hear a great horned owl in the night. There are pros and cons to those very different lifestyles.

    My face and mind right now 😮🤯 because I never connected the dots for old age and the neurological benefits only for the physical benefits. As always, appreciate you taking the time to teach us plebs 🙏

    I've been following you for a while, since you released the new technique of taking the slack out of the deadlift bar, and I honestly can say I get so excited when I see a new video from you. I know its going to be top quality, real, full of proper information. You never make your audience feel bad or dumb, you're not condescending, which weirdly enough plenty of other yourtubers do. I think you are ahead of the game and your content is so refreshing. I wish I could get you as my coach in real life, but unfortunately I live in Scotland! Anyway, could you go into some detail on how to help the CNS recover? I've recently purchased a Whoop as well, I think I saw breath work as one option, but I don't know much about it.

    Hey mate gday from Down Under. I can’t state how much I appreciate all your content. One of the most value channels on YT for lifters imho. I wish I was in a position to acces paid content, but I must say I love your work. 💪🏿

    Real keys just dropped..
    Also this made me think of mindset and resilience by extension; it may not be the most genetically or materially gifted ones who go the furthest but simply those who have the best mastery of themselves..

    Finally someone who's talking about CNS. The point is, my CNS burns out WAY faster with bodybuilding style training in comparison to classic powerlifting ( 1-5 rep ranges).

    Great information. Please gointo more depth on.sleep, nutrition. and how they affect the CNS. Also, a deeper explanation of the music piece. I.listen to loud heavy metal, rap, etc.

      Honestly the biggest factor is inflammation. I’d start looking into that for recovery boost and of course ensuring sleep is very supreme

      I used to crank up loud music but now I lift in the quiet. Actually the best squat I ever hit was last spring and I can hear a meadowlark singing when I replay the video.

    This is an excellent topic. Its one I've been looking into since I'm building up for my first powelfitig competition. I have mthfr, celiac and hypoglycemic. Once i got a handle on my sofium and potassium, it helped so much. This is graat!

    it has become such a meaningless buzzword because of all these gurus

    Happy new year dude. Brendan , have you ever tried meditating like for an hour straight or more ?
    One thing I did notice after my meditation practices is my “extremes” has gotten more extreme. This statement makes no sense but now when I am calm I am a lot more calmer than I was before the practices and when I am trying to get amped up for the top set I amp up so much more but in a more controlled manner. Coffee doesn’t wreck my sleep like it used to before. And that condition when I got extremely…don’t know how to explain it. You speculated that I reached the first jhana ( it wasn’t), so I can reach now like 4 times quicker. Started to read The Divine Comedy as well. My mother the other visited me , right after I finished my cold shower and asked why I’m punishing my body so much with cold showers😀

      Love it hear it brother! Keep it going! Yes I have meditated 2 hours straight my longest and 5 hours total in a day. I’m loving the excitement this is bringing you, makes me really happy!

    Hey Brendan, huge fan of your stuff. What's your take on magnesium supplementation for recovery? I saw you you take it on the "2 nutrition mistakes" video but you didn't end up expanding on it. I'm currently taking 126mg of magnesium bisglycinate at night. Not sure if I should keep adding more to boost more recovery.

    • @BrendanTietz
      @BrendanTietz  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

  • @marouanemalki672

    Yo Brendan, do you think that recovery is a trainable variable? Like for example, could I start spamming amraps for a given exercice each week, and with time my body becomes more efficient at recovering at those?? What do you think about this generally

    • @BrendanTietz
      @BrendanTietz  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question! You’re seeing it inverse. That would be training capacity, not recovery. You’re adapting to stimuli to handle that stimuli more. This works which is fundamentally what good programming does. Yet recovery is a finite resource that only increase from revitalization. Sleep, food, vitality practices (ice bath, sauna, grounding, etc) and other activities that restore the CNS

    Is the Whoop really worth it, or is it just a gimmick?

    • @BrendanTietz
      @BrendanTietz  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s symbiotic to me. It gives me hard data that validates my intuitive sensory feedback my body produces to help track trends. Especially what impacts my recovery the most. I highly recommend using it and not only will you innately be more responsible on sleep, you’ll start to realize habits that are affecting recovery.
