@Hector Josue SIlva Acosta I’m on hellotalk and have made around 10 friends native from Portugal that I speak to everyday. They are there you just have to search I’m even in a group with natives
@Hector Josue SIlva Acosta All apps will be full of Brazilians. Those apps should have an option to choose between Portuguese (Portugal) or Portuguese (Brazil), but unfortunately the developers just don't care about that. I'm Portuguese and I use HelloTalk.
Can you tell us which app has all these features will camera translation too that will help me with my school work 😄 Thank you your videos are really helpful ☺️
I am translating thousands of French verbs for a French-verb-conjugation app. Linguee is an awesome resource. It website has many French words that other dictionaries don’t, and the example translations assure me that I am picking the correct translation.
Hi Liz! I also agree with the comments below. Practice Portuguese is a great channel! Funny, interesting, entertaining. I also like Portuguese with Carla, particularly their podcasts.
Eu sou brasileiro, e acho muito legal que vocês estejam interessados em aprender o português! É uma jornada incrível aprender uma língua e também uma nova cultura.
I'm learning BP🇧🇷 but love to watch your videos for your perspective and tips. I also love to hear some of the differences between the two varieties. I love EP🇵🇹 as well (obsessed with Ana Moura!). Once I have better fluency with BP I'd love to start adding in some EP learning as well, it's such a beautiful language!
Oh my... I have been using Duolingo for 45 days in a row now and practicing 2 hrs each day. So I’m quite deep in... I’m very committed to learn the language for a dear friend I am currently not on speaking terms with :( She is from Portugal however and I couldn’t find any good sources for European Portuguese. Now I find this video, and your channel... this is amazing! Though I will finish the duolingo tree for now, which I should finish by the end of may at this pace, I will watch more videos here daily to practice and when I finish at the end of May (with decent vocab and grammar) I will turn my focus to speaking and listening Keep up the amazing work!
Olá Liz, gosto muito dos teus videos, pratico não só o meu português senão o meu inglês já que a minha língua nativa é o espanhol. Gostaria muito fazeres um video com exercícios para praticar o R português ja que é muito dificil para mim dizer palavras como terra o as que começam com R. Obrigado
I would like you to recommend a channel where I can attend series and national TV in European Portuguese. Personally, I find it easier to listen to the natives learn and from them listening to them.
I'm using Memrise but finding it slow, however Deckmill looks very useful. Several people have told me that vocabulary is very important - getting the verb part wrong doesn't matter so much as not knowing the word for something!
Hi Liz. If you don't mind sharing your opinion, my husband and I want to take lessons. We need to learn with some guidance or structure beginning at beginner's level. I watched your video where you mention books and I am thinking of buying Portugues XXI. I don't know whether we should start with that or find an online tutor (so far can't find European Portuguese classes where I live), and use the book as supplement. Your videos are great! I can see you truly love what you do.
Just renewed my Memrise account, it really is awesome and great for reviewing! I’ve also always managed to find a 50% off offer for the annual subscription! 🥰 thanks for the recommendations!!
Hi I have a couple of questions: 1) Do you teach Portuguese online ? 2) When you spoke about a Portuguese course from scratch, where can I find the link you mentioned at the end of the video ?
I spend a lot of time in my car. Is there an app or program that will teach me European Portuguese in the car? I'm an absolute beginner. PS- love your videos and your enthusiasm.
I just shared this video for a Britsh friend that are moving to Portugal and want my help, but I'm Brazilian, I didn't know that European portuguese was so different.
It's not that different from what Brazilians learn is school. (There are only a few differences and you have to be more aware of formality vs informality)
@@tomasferreira3510 the same way that a european portugueses didn't know teach brazilian portugueses. Portugal use slangs and words and accent that we (brazilians) can't speak. words like, giro, puto, fixe, rapariga (that is not the same pronunciation). Did you understand? I can't figure out, but I can't teache someone.
Ah I'm sorry! You'll see from the email I'm about to send that I've been focusing on some other things (plus trying to get through lockdown like everyone else!) But we are finally in desconfinamento in Portugal so things are looking up!! Thank you for sticking around, I'll be back in a few weeks!! xxx
@@TalktheStreets Thanks again Liz! I'm glad that you're doing well there! The lockdown here was put to level 1 but we're still indoors. Which means I have a lot of time to work on my Portuguese. I can't wait for the wonderful things that are coming. Keep well and stay safe❤️✨
Nice to finally see you again. You are a personality, no doubt. But as for your channel, please keep your focus. You are going all over the place. Or else get 2 channels. One for teaching and one for chatter. Keep your great smile, I still think you are great but I also wont my teacher to teach me in one steady manner. (perhaps a channel about buying and building a house in Portugal, even better, build one yourselve and show us.)
Hey Thomas! My channel has one focus, teaching European Portuguese to people moving here, and helping them find the tools they need to do it. Every video I make will relate to that! I’m sure there are other channels covering real estate!
Whats your thoughts on the Pimsleur app? Personally I know some Portuguese, since I'm half Portuguese and spent a lot of time around my Vovo and Vava. However I never really learned how to speak it fully because my Dad mostly spoke English in our household (my father is Portuguese). Also, the Portuguese side of my family is from the Azores. Ive noticed that while the language from there to Portugal is mostly the same, there is some slight variation.
The problem with duolingo is that it's based ONLY on translation learning, and learning a language by constantly translating to your language may not be the best option. since it forces you to constantly think in your native language (or English, because that's the interface for many duolingo courses) and sometimes you don't even know how to best translate in your native language. Duolingo would be so much better if it had texts with questions, forcing you to make answers, exercises for writing small texts, videos or audios with spaces to fill in, and mostly, more useful sentences and exercises forcing you to use the language.
Thank you! LOL I’ve been saying this for 10 years!!!! Translating instead of learning things as if it were your language and way of thinking is troubling. Code-switching between English and Spanish was tricky for me for awhile until I learned to change my thinking when I went between the two.
This makes sense, it rarely goes beyond short phrases which means you have to translate every time. I'm learning Welsh using Duolingo (and Portuguese using Memrise), but have no idea why the Welsh language does certain things - which you would think would be useful. I suspect the app isn't designed to be used on its own.
What I need is a good translator app for my phone. I was using Microsoft translate but it only does Brazilian for the camera part but European for the typed translation part. I tried to contact Microsoft but they argued with me that I was wrong even though I sent them a video of what it was doing. Also it often does not translate some words at all, especially if it has a character not on my keypad like the 'c' with the little tail. I need something better for when I am out and about. You are very helpful. Thank you

I looked to download Linguee, but the only Portuguese they had listed was Brazilian Portuguese. Is there a place where I can download the EU Portuguese translator?
It's not Brazilian, it just shows up with the Brazilian flag if you are in the US, and the English has an American flag, lol. You should still get both options in the results and can choose which you want to hear. Things specific to Brazil have "Braz." written next to them. Hope that helps!
