- Trangia Breakfast in the forest. Today, I'm out for a hike early in the morning and stopped in the forest to make some breakfast on my Trangia 27.
Thought I'd have a go at Porridge, Coffee, and Poached eggs on toast.
Can you make toast on Trangia? until now, I didn't know.
also, I've had comments before suggesting that trangia's are great but that they are hard to clean. so I have included the how to clean your trangia section for good measure and to demonstrate how to clean your trangia while out in the field.

Cracking toast, Gromit! Also, thank you for including the end segment. I appreciate some realism--cooking isn't finished until the dishes are done and all's squared away.
Thanks. Glad you liked it. 👍
Dan
Ex "professional" chef i.e. no training but I made a living for a while. I was always crap at poached eggs (still am) but I'll give this method a go!
😁👍
The Trangia is quite a system, and you used every bit of it! The wool cover they sell makes a great cozy to keep something warm while you're cooking something else, and only weighs something like 42 grams.
Trangia also recommends their EVA foam cover for that purpose.
Really enjoyed that Dan! I also relish the challenge of figuring out whether I can cook things I normally make at home out in the woods. It does seem like the Trangia is very versatile on that front. I was really impressed that time you used it to make a pizza. To me anything which would normally require the use of an oven at home feels like magic if you can recreate it outdoors with relatively lightweight kit you've carried to the location.
Thanks, mate. I find the process of cooking outdoors so relaxing. Sitting still in the forest and all that jazz.
The trangia set is great. It's a little bulky for some trips, but it certainly has a place.
I hope you've had a relaxing Christmas with the family.
Happy new year.
Dan
Excellent breakfast, good piece of camping gear
Thanks mate. It's a great set up for proper food. 👌
I like the idea 💡 but for me its way too much hassle 😂 I do love a poached egg though xxx
It worked well. The whole system can be a faff. But for versatility it's tough to beat. ❤️❤️
Oh I do like a Trangia! Great video there Dan, thank you. Good food - breakfast for Kings and Queens! :)
Thanks mate 👍
And Queens ??? .. don't be sexist ..lol. Bushyboy Oz.
Hey good point well made! Now embarrassed! I will edit and make a correction!@@ewengillies9826
edited - to include Queens as appropriate! Cheers :)
A really interesting film which gave me something to think about, I've never thought of using mine for toast. I would use any metal spoon or other utensil in mine.
I would usually avoid a metal spoon for stirring things like porridge. I have a small wooden spoon, but I forgot to pack it 😔
😎👍 very water efficient cleaning. With old army mess tins, we used to just rub the outsides on the grass/ moss to clean off all that Hexamine blackening on the bottom 🔥
Moss is a great resource 👍👍
Excellent idea 💡👏
Thank you! Cheers!
You can make toast in a skillet. Just butter your bread and throw it on. Toast one side flip and toast the other side. Typically, I'll cook my bacon. use the drippings to fry my eggs, then use the leftover drippings to make the toast. It's kind of a partial skillet clean up. Really simplifies things.
Thanks Dan, great bit of cooking with the Trangia. Happy New Year
Happy new year mate 👍
Great man Dan happy new year 2024 let's hope it's a good year
Happy new year mate 👍
Nice job Dan, looked good to me. Trangia is a great piece of kit. Love my 27 hard anodized, just a bit easier to clean but same stuff. Great video, thanks. Happy New Year to you and family. Looking forward to more adventures in 2024. See ya soon.
Happy new year Terry.
Thanks mate.
Dan 👍
I love cooking on a Trangia, has always been our cooker of choice for the family or van camping but I don’t take it on my solo camps.
Food looked yummy!
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Lots of love xx
Thanks Karen. Hope your all better now x
Cracking video as always Dan. I've just been gifted a Trangia 27 cook set by a friend, and have yet to play with it... Now you've inspired me to go and give it a shot! All the best, James 🙏💚
Thanks mate, yeah they have a place. Not for every trip but certainly on some. Its such a versatile system.
Happy new year mate.
Dan

@@SussexOutdoors 😁👍
Love the Trangia, i have the gas burner to go with mine also the one i got is non stick ..cracking bit of kit :)
Yes, Warren has the gas attachment. I might invest in one at some point. Opens up more options.
I like the gas attachment , currently it is in my little micro camper @@CampLifeBushcraft
I seem to remember the attachment is not cheap. Probably worth it though.
Around £50 when I got mine years ago, used it 3 maybe 4 times lol
👍👍⛺️👍👍
😁👍
Good idea 😂😂😂
Good man ,
Thanks. Hope the trip is going good.
@@CampLifeBushcraft awesome but at Perth airport about to take off to Singapore then home . Will watch this later on the next leg as 00:42 here so sleep now lol
Love my Trangia, always use it when fishing. Where did you get the round pots with the butter etc in them?
Ebay mate. A box of 8 or 12 for not much money.
More educational/instructional/reviews, Dan. You hit that type of video for six mate 😉👍🏼
Thanks Tim ❤️
