BEST: F&L 1, The Cool, Testuo & Youth, Drogas WAVE WORST: F&L 2, Lasers, Drogas Light (I actually love this album becuz its trap Lupe but I see why others dont)
The fact we can make a album just for the story line for the coolest is dope af to me. Go through all his mixtapes & albums and put together all the songs and it would be a whole project. This guy is a fucking genius. I’m surprised no one hasn’t made a playlist for it on TH-cam
I can't remember but I think it was on Joe Budden's podcast that the gang were arguing how "creating an album" is a lost art in music today. Their reasoning behind it, which is true, is that most artists record 50-100 songs and then throw their favorite 10-12 together with no regard for theme or structure. What would've been best is if they picked their strongest 3 or 4 songs as singles and then have every other song serve as a compliment to it, not filler. What I find interesting and coincidental about "The Cool" album is that most of the singles / best songs happened to be the first set of songs Lupe recorded which made it super easy for him to build around it. I bought this album in high school when it dropped and it was truly a masterpiece written from start to finish.
That makes no sense. How is choosing the best 10-12 out of 50-100 results into filler? How would choosing only the best 3-4 *singles* and make *songs* around them? Wouldn’t those just be fillers?
@@Joela393 thats not what i said. what i said was: 10 - 12 songs from 100 songs = a project that sounds disjointed 4 best songs + supportive songs = cohesive album A filler track is a throwaway song with no purpose n replay value. A supportive song is a song whose quality matches the single but fleshes out a diff aspect of the theme of the album. Example: "superstar" - single, "the coolest" - support
Listening to "put you on game" repeatedly brought me here tonight. I remember this interview before i went and saw him at the HOB in Chicago. Such a great album!!!
This as well as Food & Liquor are two of the first "conceptual" hip hop albums that really stuck with me. It really brought me new insight to lyricism and poetry. Thanks forever to Lupe, respect 🙏
I always thought the Cool was a story inside a story. It was like, he was telling the story of Michael Young and where his head was at during the making of the album. It is brilliant.
True, T&Y is definiatly one of his best, a fantastic outing, but he has severly shitted on his discography since then. He has as many bad/mediocre albums as good by now
First 2 albums r some of the best hip hop ever
Lupe is in my top 5 of all time
Same
The Cool and Tetsuo and Youth is the illest albums of all time
Jamar Poe don't forget about food and liquor

Your right. The storytelling and writing is great! The MYH story is such a heavy one. Tetsuo & Youth's youth tale is great as well!

RaisZar Official he’s better than ever now
Hmmmm is it possible that Lupe's "The Cool" song and album influenced Gasper Noe's "Enter The Void" movie? 🤔
This is dope
I remember him saying that he had plans to make a horror-themed radio program and comic book based off the album. Did he ever do so?
Are these from the promo copy of the CD?
I actually named the album the cool on Wikipedia and lupe took that
Pac what lol
Lupe looks so hungry Here, now he's a different person.
Tetsuo and youth was an amazing album
