The Cool is my favorite Lupe Fiasco album. It’s ashamed that it’s just now reaching platinum status. The Cool was definitely one of the best mainstream Hip Hop/Rap albums of the 2000s. And should had went platinum instead of gold back when it was released.
Best concept album of all time. Executed with unrivaled lyricism. Still haven't heard any other rapper push out triple and quadruple entendres consistently at that level. The Cool is probably why the RapGenius website was originally created, despite it fizzling out in later years and during the mumble rap wave, it was great early on for catching those missed punchlines from thoughtful rappers that put work into their craft. Lupe is undoubtedly one of the greatest of all time and I'll die on that hill. Bar for bar he's up there with anybody people might call the "GOAT"
I agree. The cool stayed in my car’s cd player(I know, a long time ago) for a year straight. The beats, the lyrics, the flow; I love everything about that album.

Interpret it as you will, but replay value is something Lupe’s music has. Flatly refusing to compromise his values has something to show for. There are amazing albums that are good for a couple of listens and feels like a flash in the pan. Hearing The Cool at 11 and now at 26 with all the things I’ve picked up on from the bars and things I’ve learned growing up has really given me a surprising amount of perspective
Tetsuo & Youth from 2015 is by far his most underrated album. It might be technically his best album too. Some of the best raps I’ve ever heard in my life are on that album.

The Cool, DMIZ, Drogas Wave, T&Y, and F&L are all museum worthy. You can argue the order all you want but few are messin with this discography. There isn't a day that goes by that I'm not bumpin something from one of these albums.

Hits, concept, Ayesha’s poetry, bars, the Snoop feature, album cover, the fact that it is an ENTIRE prologue to the story of Michael History, whom rose from the dead on his debut album on the song he would then NAME this album after… and I believe the one project of his to truly crossover to younger generations who are gradually becoming Lupe fans. T&Y is his 2nd best in my opinion, but The Cool is his most successful and highest selling album for a reason. I’m happy it went platinum

Nas & Lupe are my 1 & 1a. But I'm biased, because I'm a 3rd generation Chicagoan. However, in my humble opinion "Food & Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1" is his most complex, complete & thought pushing body of work.
Just went to see him perform this album in LA last week and it was even better live, long live Lupe. I think the 15th anniversary tour helped push it over the hump as well.
The Cool is my most beloved Lupe Album, but I think Tetsuo and Youth is better if that makes any sense. The Cool opened my eyes to Lupe as a storytelling lyricist and a conceptual artist....but T&Y is better. Drogas Wave is damn good, too.
