This is one of the best realistic reviews I’ve seen, someone who really understands his stuff and not just going with the other reviewer sheeple on trends.
I’ve reviewed this speaker too and I can back what you’ve said, as Peter has got it spot on! I really enjoyed using it, it’s an awesome bit of kit for what it is!
I think I’ve always had a good sense in detecting value in a sound system. There is a cost vs. sound range. Beyond a certain point I don’t think you can hear the excessive cost. I would be curious how they determined their price point?
I think for the perceived luxury brands like Devialet, there has always been a luxury tax on their products. That said, Devialet stuff are really quite stuffed with tech and patents so I generally don't feel too ripped off... at the lower tiers... Once you get to the Expert amps... then... another story altogether.
Yeah but you’re missing the point, walking around with Sonos move is unappealing; you are buying Devialet for the aesthetics and the art as well as the sound quality. That Sonos will never look as good.
No competition in bass also in music upsampling(similar to sony's dseehx), you won't see in that size factor. What you may miss tho is wide stereo, not sure how much can do 360 tweeters, but the bass is definitely not tho. A lot depends on usage, this is meant to be on the move, much less under your TV screen, should be still capable tho to deliver bass at least, which I guess may not be quite stereo bass, but will be definitely deeper than those from my 80 euro speaker.
How do you compare the Devialet products VS Sonos? I have a Beam + submini + 2 100 as rears but been considering selling to exchange it for the Devialiet soundbar or for two phantom IIs. Any advice you’d have?
Great review as always! I believe the absolute best portable speaker is the JBL Boombox 3. I’ve had the Sonos Move, even the Sonos Five & Bluesound Pulse 2i (neither truly portable because of plug in) and the 3 way speaker design of the Boombox 3 is superior in sound quality. I added a 2nd one to have true stereo and it’s sublime! Thanks for your videos, continue the great work!
Unfortunately not really suited to a bass music enjoyer because the Boombox doesn't go below 40Hz. Even there around 45Hz it struggles, so you loose a LOT of what makes electronic music shine. So yeah, the Devialet may not be the most cost-effective speaker. It's damn expensive. Yeah, it's not the most "powerful" when it comes to dB. But as far a portable goes, it seems like it's kinda the best thing you can get if you want to enjoy a pretty wide range of frequencies.
You’re comparing two completely differently engineered speakers targeted for different end users… I could say the phantom 2 has even worse battery life! Because it’s mains powered 😂! Honestly what a silly comment .

Oh wow. Thanks for the high praise.

Perfecttttttt review i wanted to see after 100’s of videos!thank you!
I agree that the speakers are great, but the way you have put things up is even greater. Wish you the best Peter.
I returned it mainly because it didn't quite have the volume I wanted. But I can admit it's INSANE how low the bass was.

I have listen mania vs sonos move 2 and mania is far more superior imo compared to the move

I wish you would show the numbers in the frequency response graph. So it's more like 50-7kHz?

Legit great review
the bass 👍🏻
Which one more deep & rich bass Sonos five or Devialet mania ?
What do you think of the Kef LS50 Meta?

Diamondboxx xl3 is the world best Bluetooth speaker ever.
Hi!!! You can connect in your tabmor cellphone using TH-cam music video? Pls
how do this compare to Bang & Olufsen beolit 20?
how does it perform outdoors vs like a Bose or jbl flip etc.
It perform way better, but has less dB power
Which has better sub-bass between this and the homepod 2?
nothing is better than this
This
Till what percentage of volume does the bass go upto 30htz
It keep at 30hz at max volume. The difference is the dB of bass at 100% volume which is lower
I think JBL bb3 gives better performance at a lower price
Devialet Phantom 2 98dB eats that speaker.
Devialet Mania has 10 hours of battery life, that's terrible.
