- Hello friends, I’m back with another wallpaper slideshow. And oh boy, this one's a long one. Thanks for being patient while I worked, I hope you get something out of it.

Now I heard somewhere that you need to put lots of keywords in your description… I think I can do that.
Incase you could not tell, this is an Animatic for the Dream SMP. That means that all of these people are in fact made of Blocks from the hit game Minecraft. Made by the man himself, Philza (Ph1lza) Minecraft. You thought this was based on a book or something? Nope! This is Minecraft Server Roleplay. Usually Minecraft is a Funny Game, and it can be up to 2000% funnier, depending on how charismatic your friends are. But this is not Funny Minecraft Moments, oh no.. this is Edgy Minecraft Moments. Soul-Crushing minecraft moments. Starring in this Animatic are memorable characters, like Tommyinnit, Ranboo, Tubbo, Dream (DreamWasTaken,) Awesamdude, Technoblade, Quackity, and uhhhh…. Michael? I don't know about you, but Michael is my favorite character on the Dream SMP. There's so much… Lore. So many Lores in fact, that I am terrified just thinking about it! Speaking of terrified, Tommyinnit is terrified in this Animatic. This is a very Serious and Angsty Animatic, viewer discretion is advised.

I'll be honest, this animatic did not want to get made. I'm sure you'll notice how it took a lot longer to make, but that's not just because of the runtime. Although the length is impressive. No really though, stuff just kept coming up. And then we had that lore gap, so I was kind of just freewheeling until I had some more events to draw… it's been a bit of a mess. Needless to say, I am exhausted mentally and physically. Not sure what that means for future projects, but if you're reading this then there's a really good chance you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, so you'll know how things shake out. Who knows, maybe I'll actually end up doing one of those smaller projects I keep mentioning… instead of making increasingly longer and more complicated retellings of the basic lore.
We'll see.
Well, until then - I'm late august, and you've been watching a literal child's angsty minecraft fever dream. It's me, I'm the child. And the fever is a clever metaphor for excessive amounts of caffeine.
dude, I absolutely love how when Tommy dies everything goes silent, with barely any ambiance music playing. And when he returns the music just overwhelms you with a loud blare, similar to how it must have been like for Tommy once he returned and regained all his senses
Yes!! Right when the music drops really hard, it's my favorite part. The music is used so well.
And I think it's awesome that it's one of Minecraft's songs playing when he died.

I love how Wilbur isn't shattered like Tommy. He instead glitches to symbolize how his current state is corrupted and missing something to function normally: Ghostbur. This attention to detail is GORGEOUS!!!

this is my theory , Ghostbur isn't actually different but Wilbur somehow made 2 separate personalities in his mind while in exile, and when he died his innocent personality came as Ghostbur and that the revived Wilbur right now isn't complete

A little detail I ADORE is how Sam went from grayscale to red, showing that Tommy now sees him as an enemy/untrustworthy. I really really fucking love that little detail.

Yo dude same- it legitimately shocked me and I thought I was hallucinating cause I've NEVER heard him speak like that, nor curse for that matter.
- The red squares whenever there’s a death.
- Foolish’s design is so good. It incapsulates the Egyptian aspects of his character really well. The clothes, the hair, the distinct facial features. They all fit him so well! Even the large hands and forearms of a builder. And the shark tooth is the perfect simple way to include his shark theme. The overall look of his character could easily be a sort of immortal/god-the totem of undying.

i love the red behind Wilbur- like how red the sunrise is. really adds to the idea that everyone is convinced a villains returned. Then his face is drawn as friendly, which shows that maybe he has changed, or at least people perceive him as havung changed.
I see his face as more menacing, like a gentle violence laying beneath. someone who has spent years controlling his emotions and mental state, someone who has no hesitation.
He's a bad person.

I love how at 3:59 you can see everyone at the banquet, and everyone who isn't infected by the egg is grey but those who are are red. I also love how you can see bbh's halo, and how Hannah is also red!
Have you also noticed that dream is red too. Does that mean that egg was dreams creation?
@@vendi_605 Not necessarily! The way the colours are used are to represent c!Tommy's (in this case, as it is an animatic mostly based on his POV) or maybe the audience's perspectives on characters. You can see that c!Sam is colored grey, but after the Ghostbur incident you can see he turned red! Showing that c!Tommy now sees him as untrustworthy.

The way that melancholy Minecraft music kicks in as Tommy is broken down and killed with everyone’s reactions really hit differently when watching the premiere because I didn’t expect that to happen, the way it was shown as Tommy broke to pieces like glass shattering was amazing.

Can we just talk about how crazy it is that DSMP & Fandom now finally begin to talk about how traumatized Tommy had to be after all that happened to him?! The shattered Tommy in this animatic hit different.
You should listen to "little hero" by kanya and then read the comments. There you will find a lot of people who talk about this
It's cause Tommy and Dream (the main writers of the exile arc) decided to lean into the mental aspects of characters.
Based opinion but I don't really like it. It's fun to debate about the reasons *why* characters did things and how events affected them mentally, but I came into the DSMP fandom when it was about war, fighting, betrayal, politics, all that jazzy fun stuff. The sudden addition of the lore actually giving a shit about the mental side-effects just feels like a whiplash that has lasted for months now.
Probs why I really only watch Techno and Philza lmao

One cool thing I noticed that I haven’t seen many people point out is that at 3:57 when Ranboo puts on the blindfold he only becomes partially red, while the blindfold itself and what it stands for is full on red and completely saturated, and I find that so cool

I just realised that Wilbur playing cards with Tommy in the afterlife and then the shot switching to Ranboo giving Tommy a flower in the real life has so much more meaning now that Wilbur is back and met Ranboo. It shows how everything was a game for Wilbur and how Ranboo on the other hand actaully deeply cares about the feelings of others. They are polar opposits and I can't wait how their lore is gonna grow!

The scene with Tubbo and Michael kills me (3:03). I didnt get it at first but it genuinely hurts me. Tubbo's mourning Tommy's death, but at the same time trying to stay strong for Michael cause hes only a kid. That scene crushed me more then you could know.
This is incredible, please please please dont stop these because they are bloody amazing

You know, people are saying Wilbur didn't shatter because of the fact he never gave up. But I think it's quite the opposite symbolism.
Out of the entire group, Wilbur was the only one who WANTED to die. Everyone else had no choice in the matter, they were killed and couldn't fight back against it. Tommy died stuck in the prison with an enemy of his, Schlatt had a heart attack which - no one asks to have a heart attack, then Mexican Dream sorta just.. y'know got murdered as well. None of them wanted to die and were forced into the circumstances that caused it.
Wilbur told Philza to kill him, he gave him the blade TO kill him, egging him on to do it. That's where the true difference lies between them all, because Wilbur had given up. He accepted death with open arms. In way, the reason he didn't break apart was because he was the only one content with it.
Why is nobody talking about Foolish's design, IT'S AWESOME

Its also because at the Red banquet skin Ranboo used had a blindfold and coat on. But I see what you mean :)

Did anyone else notice how much Ranboo's and Awesamdude's depictions changed from the last animatic? Ranboo looks more like his skin now and Sam just looks so cool. Really great to see August's style develop with these animatics!
Yeah Ranboo's skin changed entirely at first he looked like how he does in real life, now looks like his character.
My guess is that it's easier to draw his facial expressions. The entire point of Ranboo wearing the mask and glasses is so that people couldn't see his face so I definitely think changing his design to look more like his skin was the right call.
Late-August is our comfort animator, and we watch sadist for the thrills.

Pastel Flurry is for the therapy and Channel Without A Name is for laughs
Sadist gives us upbeat battle scenes, Late-Augast gives us angst, pain and tears.

The scene where Tommy finally gets out of the prison, and everything is so much more vibrant and the colours are so saturated after being stuck in a dark, cramped room was so well done!! Not to mention how visually pleasing it was

I really love the use of colors to depict emotions: how those seen from Tommy’s perspective as “villains” are in red, and how Dream’s mask is white in contrast, showing a villain underneath a friendly face. Same with Wilbur, with a almost smile on his face but a red background showing his true feelings
I thought the same with the colors from sadist animations, the colors always has something to do with it. Idk if it was intentional or not 😂 but based in sadist's animations, yellow is hope or nostalgia, red is anger, green is fear, purple or pink is chaos or about something twisted (like the inside of the vault, when techno spawned the withers), blue is sadness or just nighttime I guess, and white is a moment/event you should never miss. I love the mcyt art community for its creativity man, we literally work w/ mc and yet these animators makes everything look so kewl like a movie.

Tommy being dragged away by Sam while Ghostbur being held by Dream is the most painful scene,you can see Tommy desperate attempt to try to save Ghostbur

If you’re talking about how he said Dream wouldn’t revive him, that wasn’t a lie, that was an overlook as he genuinely believed Dream wouldn’t. c!Tommy’s idea was reckless, as all his ideas are, but if you look at it from his point of view it kind of makes sense.
@@millyhearts Nonono, I meant that he told Ghostbur Dream still had his three canon lifes and that they would only be taking one of them to try and get Dream to „realize he was being bad“ so he would stop. Ghostbur had no idea he would be helping in completely killing Dream forever. If he had known that, if Tommy had been honest to the person he brought in danger and used, Ghostbur probably wouldn’t have participated. It’s just that he’s a total pushover and terribly gullible and Tommy took advantage of that once again, but this time Ghostbur didn’t just lost a few valuable items, he lost his life.
@@nabibobetauu yeah I do agree that C!Tommy lied to Ghostbur but it's mostly for the greater good. If the plan work,C!Dream will be gone,erasing the main "evil" of the server. It was really risky plan especially using Ghostbur as main,but for the long lasting peace of server(in his view). When he reliazed thing start to go south,C!Tommy not holding back in attempt to get Ghostbur back to safety instead of listening to C!Sam as he knew Ghostbur is in danger. At least it's shows that Tommy knew he was in wrong and trying to fix it,try to negotiate with C!Sam,which still ended up in failure. Tommy felt a great regrets afterwards as he once again failed to save his friend(which quite parallel to the Tubbo exucation event,except in Ghostbur's case,Tommy chose to act instead of watching over)
@@musfirah9341 for the ‘main evil’ to be gone from the server tommy and dream would both need to die they are the reason for most of the conflict if dream died tommy could do whatever he wanted and that would not be good.

Broke: Ranboo's design is changed because Late August changed their mind.
Woke: Ranboo's design has stayed the same, but in earlier animatics, he wore a disguise that still somewhat resembled his normal form so that when he felt he could trust people he could show his true face and it wouldn't deviate too much from what they already knew.

it's been so long since i've watched anything dsmp related... it just makes me so nostalgic i can hardly do it. it feels like it was a whole different lifetime ago.

For me I think the difference between Late August’s and Sadists animatics/animations are Late August’s show the more emotional sincere side of Tommy, and then Sadists show the more strong willed Tommy. Both peoples animatics/animations are BEAUTIFUL may I add.

the way everything was heartbreakingly silent and slow during the period where tommy was dead is so terribly perfect- the part where tubbo's playing with michael, then it shows him crying, those two scenes give so much emotion- and ranboo's anger and sorrow- it's just incredible

That’s what I’m getting, but it’s mixed with like the admiration of the animation since I’m seeing it for the first time and this emotion I want to describe as sadness but can’t. I love how you use red to symbolize the enemy, and Sam wasn’t red until he kept Tommy from killing Dream or saving Ghostbur. And the train with Wilbur was red
3:04 I absolutely love how you portray c!Tubbo playing with Micheal, looking just fine, then him sitting panicking in a corner. It seriously shows how he is repressing his emotions to seem normal and able to cope when he’s not. He doesn’t know how to express his emotions and so keeps them inside because he’s not sure what he’s feeling.

Sam is red when he pulls Tommy out of the prison and away from Ghostbur, the symbolism of the coloring is so beautifully potent every time
The way you portraited how Dream brings Tommy back to life is just beautiful
Ok so I just realized something. The thing throughout this whole animatic was how the people Tommy sees as villains were in red, right? Well during the prison break in scene watch Sam. When they first enter Sam is normal and gray. However, as soon as he grabs Tommy off of the platform, he is red. That was the exact moment that Sam become an enemy, a villain to Tommy. Beautiful detail.
To add to this. At first Sam is full of color indicating Tommy sees him as a good person but after Tommy is killed and exits the prison Sam is now Gray because Tommy is unsure how he feels about him. Then as you mentioned after Ghostbur's death he's red because Tommy now fully sees him as evil.
@@lightthroughdarkness4850 I just really hope they make up. Tommy is always away from the prison and Sam, and Sam is always with Quackity during the current Las Nevadas story arc.
It’s also a perfect way to illustrate Tommy’s primitive way of thinking with, “I’m always right.”
I also love how the colors portray Tommy’s view, but the animatic doesn’t necessarily follow his view: Innocence is a memoir of Wilburs tragic journey, from life to untimely demise.
@@WhatIsMyLif3 Sadly it looks like Sam has fallen further into darkness. I mean...detaining people who committed no real offenses (Connor), possibly kidnapping and holding a toddler as hostage, killing a hostage who is overall innocent (Ranboo) [well maybe it was Sapnap, but canonically it seems that Sam was the killer], torturing his friend and crippling him for life (Ponk). It's so sad to see someone so kind become disgustingly cruel and corrupt. If they were to make up before Sam confronted his Warden persona, it'd be a huge disservice to his character development.
Same with ranboo and Tubbo
They both betrayed Tommy by moving on and getting married in his absence

Late august really just has the ability to perfectly encapsulated all the tragedy and drama wrapped up in the SMP huh? In such subtle and thought provoking ways. They can truly consider themself an artists!
