Honestly now that the Dream SMP is done this video made me realize that people could realistically make an animated version of it as a whole and I think that's pretty neat.
I genuinely want it. Ever since I saw Sad-ist's trailer-like animations of each story arch, all I want is a full length movie for each of the DreamSMP "seasons". I hope people keep making stuff like this, they make me happy every time I find a new one 🥰

This is a lovely send off to the old DSMP. It's an impressively long animation, with brilliant use of fan made music throughout. The photograph at the end, and the use of Ghostbur in Ozymandius, you capture well how the seeds of Wilbur's fall were always there in how we pressured Tommy. Well done, thank you.

I’m gonna be honest, I started watching the smp when technoblade joined, and stopped watching when he… yeah… I was only here for alex and phil, and since alex’s passing, i have stayed away from minecraft in general, and the same for the people he interacted with. i’ve been afraid that if i started watching jschlatt, or philza, or skeppy again, it would be too much for me to take. i’m sorry for rambling, i just needed to get that off my chest.

@@RazzBeri1 Wow, people really are different. I NEVER watched the DreamSMP before Techno died. I knew about it, of course, but didn’t watch. Then I saw Techno passed away and I just felt gutted. I had to make things right and jumped right into his DreamSMP streams. I binged Minecraft Monday in a week (sobbing from joy and excruciating sadness whenever he won, knowing that he was gone). Im almost done watching all the DreamSMP streams from Technos POV and allowed myself to not only mourn what he became, but really love what he was. Sometimes the weight of it all does hurt, but just hearing his laugh makes me feel better. The fact that he ever got the chance to sound like that, so happy and healthy… that he was blessed with the gift of even existing, is enough. But yeah, all this leads back to how different we all are. You’ve stopped wanting anything to do Techno when he died, I can’t get enough of him 😂 o7 to all of us, live life to the fullest because this is a once in infinity opportunity

this is actually absolutely incredible. I still haven't gotten to watch the beginning of DSMP, since I started watching it during the festival arc, but this animation was sooooo amazing to watch! You did an amazing job, Melody! absolutely incredible.
Don't you have a story that is cut out and told? I'm from Russia and we have a lot of people who talk about the plot and translate. Is it really possible for you to see it only on streams?
@@Karl_Jack on streams there are lots of missable details that may/may not be funny, or important. The fun in watching the streams is watching them interact, have fun, instead of watching a video that doesn’t even really emphasize tha.

As a avid Hermitcraft watcher who has never seen the dream SMP, I’m proud to say this actually was quite intriguing, and easy to follow despite never having watched the series, great job!
As a critically acclaimed critic with my opinion mattering to no one; may I say…I love it. I think it’s beautifully done, you did not write the story but how you tell it through the interactions and the seamless transitions between it’s story to portray a more cohesive story is phenomenal. I think the only way to truly improve this would be by creating an anime opening.
L'manberg was pure and innocent and just, they said. Wilbur: "Tommy, tomorrow do you want deal drugs with me?" L'manberg was literally built on corruption and lies accompanied by goofy antics and silly situations, before things got serious. Awesome animation, by the way! 💛✨✨✨

They intended to manipulate and lie to create the SMP's one and only Monopoly of drugs on the server, which is not a strong foundation to build a nation upon, especially one that will last. However, it was so much fun to watch them just do whatever they wanted and see the absolute chaos and drama that unfolded. Also, thanks for responding! 💛 (P.S. I also think Dream went overkill in his punishment of L'manberg, which completely fueled the fire of further bloodshed, which in light of the finales, might have been a purposeful choice, since war and quarrels result in more death, which allows for more experiments on the plethora of various after-lives.
Resolve can come from the darkest of places, and Tommy and Wilbur’s resolve came from a dark place and shined on the path that was meant to be followed Willpower comes from one’s desire to do something, and Tommy’s determination and willpower came from the desire to protect L’Manberg and everyone, same with Wilbur and everyone else. Their resolve may have been from darkness, but their will and determination took them on a great long path of resolve and revenge. Truly inspiring
As someone who just dropped themselves out of the fandom quite abruptly I just want to say how unbelievably beautiful this was. When I tell you I have been in literal tears since the first few seconds of this, I really mean it. There is something so simple about the subject, something lingering in our hearts as what feels like a memory of the past, a memory stowed deep in our hearts, that only rises when the time is called upon. This was something that could have brought even the toughest of us to shambles, something so distant that it feels unreal, the feeling of nostalgia. 8:58 Oh WOW! I love how Wilbur struggles to believe they're not the villain, but never shows that to Tommy. And that "You have to give things up for this nation" hits so HARD, knowing Tommy gives up his disks and two lives then fights to reclaim it,, while Wilbur blows it up.
I think you could always tell that Wilbur was eventually going to become a villain. From when he changed Tommy’s house to the Embassy without permission or consent to a certain sentence ‘Tommy I want you to do whatever your heart says’. But he stumbled before that got out. And I thought I almost heard Wilbur say ‘Tommy I want you to do whatever I say’ but corrected himself. So yeah I think Villainbur was planned from the very beginning.
I don't usually comment, but this is really breathtaking. A 23 minutes long animation alone is something incredible, but you also sneaked in all the little gestures and details and stuff... such a talent. Keep it up girl!
okay, I'm aware this is one of the most beautiful, nostalgic things I've ever seen, but as an animator I feel the need to talk about the fact that you animated a nearly 24 minute video. A very rough animatic for half the time would have been insanely impressive as is, but you somehow managed to do complete lineart and coloring, with full-on backgrounds as well, with even conistent, dare I say, climbing, wonderful quality to it as well. This is one of the most impressive things I have ever seen. You have insane amounts of talent. I hope you didn't burn yourself out making this, even if it was two years ago, it's always good to take breaks

This was so beautifully animated, and I can tell how much thought and love was put into this project! It legitimately had me teary-eyed, because of seeing how far the dream SMP has come to be, and knowing it’s all over.
Y'know I feel like the tubbox joke actually unintentionally forshadows Tubbo being executed in a box by Techno at the order of Jschlatt later on in the Dream SMP. Anyway, this animation is absolutely amazing! Fantastic job! ✨ Couldn't have been a better send off.

This feels like a sendoff and love letter to where the DreamSMP started (,: You really captured both the fun lightheartedness and moments of drama, and it takes a heckin LOT of effort to make a full 20 minute animation. Blown away, you're awesome, mwah~ Edit: Oh man, rewatching the 'Just like you! :D' animatic after 20 minutes of happiness is some real tonal whiplash and a reminder of just how much everyone's characters suffered and darkened as the series went on :,D

I joined the fandom in March 2021, so the war for Independance was already old lore. Only brief lines mentioned here and there in animatics. So to have it all pieced together so beautifully? To see those defining moments in greater context, with the emotions so beautifully captured? I'm floored. Thanks so much for posting and for the lovely memories ❤❤❤

This is the most beautiful send off that everyone can give to DSMP also since L'manberg arc is my favorite part of the whole lore. I love this so much-just I can't stop crying and laughing to the jokes again.

This is one of the sweetest DSMP animations I have ever seen, it's just what we all needed after the finale to cheer us up and bring back memories we will now never forget, especially for those of us who had been there ever since the start of L'manberg. it feels like just yesterday that our boys were building up their walls with baby fundy in his funny pastel suit ): this was put together so unbelievably well, the music and the art and just literally everything. it was all so nostalgic and honestly i don’t think that i’ll ever really be over this glorious lore. i will always hold dream smp so close to my heart. if i had a way to truly tell you how much this work of art means to me personally, i would. but i think the best i can do is this comment. so even if you don’t care much about the smp anymore, as you talked about in the description, i still just want to say thank you.
The L’manburg arc was crazy, real excited for Season 2 and the Disk arc. Im really excited to see how they adapt the Exile and Prison arc’s from the source material.

From a fellow artist/animator: 1. Your art style (two years ago at least) is very simple, even for animation, but you did a great job highlighting the most important stuff so you focused in the right thing and even had time to do whole backgrounds! 2. YOU COLOURED THE WHOLE THING AND DID LIGHT AND SHADOW, ARE YOU INSANE?! THE AMOUNT OF WORK! AMAZING! 3. I am most impressed by your ability to know when to change shots and perspective. For me that’s the biggest challenge because you want to keep the scenes interesting without being to jumpy by changing every two seconds. In my eyes that is the biggest quality in this work. Conclusion: You’re clearly an animator, not a sound or video editor judging by some long pauses or the final cut of the music (but I am being picky here, I am also a perfectionist). You animation choices and what you did at the drawing board is amazing and I love how you even took the time to animate speech! In my opinion that is something special, most TH-cam animators skip because it takes so much time and gets boring very quickly, but in the final product it makes a big difference. I am so impressed right now and I’m happy you decided to upload this!

Yeah my art style is still super simple (for animations at least), I always think that simplicity is key to making something memorable and definitely help with efficiency. Also, don't get fooled by the backgrounds, most of the time it's just the same background horizontally flipped over and over again lol 2. Thank you, I've always struggled with coloring and lighting so I'm glad my effort payed off 3. Choosing shots and making the animatic is my favorite part of the process so I'm not surprised that it stands out. There are definitely some rough spots were I rushed a bit, but I'm glad you enjoyed it regardless :D Yeah the reason I put that little disclaimer at the beginning is because I knew there are sooooo many inconsistencies but I just couldn't work on it anymore for my own sanity 😭 Also, just so you know the reason the music is messed up is because the original music I used was copyrighted so I had to find a cover the song to be able to upload it, but at that point I had already animated the whole thing so there was nothing I could do to fix it without removing exorbitant amount of work. The audio was also edited in imovie so that didn't help at all with the quality. Trust me, I am also a perfectionist so this bothers me WAY more than everyone else Anyway, sorry for the long read, enjoy the rest of your day! :D

Even if you're not in the fandom anymore, which is quite understandable as to why you wouldn't be, I also have been trying to distance myself, this is an amazing sendoff. The start of it all, the little references and expressions tie everything together. I haven't kept up with lore, and I never really have, but through it all, it's nice to see how it all started. This is such a fluid, long, meaningful animation. I'm a mediocre artist, but this is very inspiring, and I think (I know easier said than done) you should be proud of this. Maybe it's because you hold yourself to a higher regard, or something else, but you should still step back and realize how beautiful this all is. It's rare to see this long of animation, fully colored and shaded, detailed and fluent throughout. It is such an accomplishment to be able to create something like this. Two years ago was different for all of us, and two years later will be different again but at least take a second to love yourself for trying, for being determined to finish it even if you didn't like it, for everything. You're amazing amazing human, an even more incredible artist, and if this is from two years ago, then maybe you've improved, and then you can be even more proud. I'm terribly sorry for the long long comment, I don't usually write these this long but, considering all that you've said and done, I wanted to salute you a little. ❤
Having Ozymandius read AND showing the destruction of not the 16th, but L'Manberg's FINAL death is so chilling as we watch Tommy give up his disks for a doomed nation. And the shots of Tommy's eye blinking with the discs are great! I really love all the background details and body language you gave everyone! Lots of cool cinematic choices that bring this to live so immersively. I respect if you're not happy with it, but that is a sign that you've improved since you made it! AND that your vision is ambitious, so it's only a matter of time until your skills match your ideas. And then you'll be unstoppable! I love this video, and I will rewatch it many times in the days to come.
This was a beautiful throwback. 4:10 Everyone remembers Tommy’s version of Dream’s tyranny which was basically Dream not giving back Tommy's disks but honestly he was arguably harsher on Tubbo. Burning his villagers and iron farm wasted weeks of work. Granted this was because of poor wording of the rules but Tubbo couldn’t catch a break. L'manburg was a safe place to hide for these oppressed people. 5:53 Awwwwwww

When I clicked this video I wasn't expecting an actual animated video matching with events and voice clips. And the frickin' L'mangerg anthem playing in the background as Wilbur writes the Declaration of independance? Awesome. So very very cool
This was just..absolutely beautiful and a great sendoff to an amazing SMP with such a surprisingly captivating plot. You captured everything so perfectly. Not just the animations and expressions but the balance between the music, the little moments that lifted our hearts, and the dramatic scenes that we all know and love. Amazing work.
Holy shit…I loved this so much. I have been feeling really down since the Dream SMP ended and while I’m still not over it this has helped get me closer to closure. It helped me reflect and reminisce on the great times that the server and the people have created.
This is actually so good, it captures the personalities in each person with the animation! From Tubbo going behind Tommy to Tommy pushes away Wilbur. SO GOOD!

Honestly now that the Dream SMP is done this video made me realize that people could realistically make an animated version of it as a whole and I think that's pretty neat.

The photograph at the end, and the use of Ghostbur in Ozymandius, you capture well how the seeds of Wilbur's fall were always there in how we pressured Tommy. Well done, thank you.

@@RazzBeri1 Wow, people really are different. I NEVER watched the DreamSMP before Techno died. I knew about it, of course, but didn’t watch. Then I saw Techno passed away and I just felt gutted. I had to make things right and jumped right into his DreamSMP streams.
I binged Minecraft Monday in a week (sobbing from joy and excruciating sadness whenever he won, knowing that he was gone). Im almost done watching all the DreamSMP streams from Technos POV and allowed myself to not only mourn what he became, but really love what he was. Sometimes the weight of it all does hurt, but just hearing his laugh makes me feel better. The fact that he ever got the chance to sound like that, so happy and healthy… that he was blessed with the gift of even existing, is enough.
But yeah, all this leads back to how different we all are. You’ve stopped wanting anything to do Techno when he died, I can’t get enough of him 😂 o7 to all of us, live life to the fullest because this is a once in infinity opportunity

Wilbur said he was 10 but was not confirmed by tommy, since Wilbur wrote all the lore, it should be used.

As a critically acclaimed critic with my opinion mattering to no one; may I say…I love it.
I think it’s beautifully done, you did not write the story but how you tell it through the interactions and the seamless transitions between it’s story to portray a more cohesive story is phenomenal. I think the only way to truly improve this would be by creating an anime opening.

L'manberg was literally built on corruption and lies accompanied by goofy antics and silly situations, before things got serious. Awesome animation, by the way! 💛✨✨✨
That's not corruption, only drugs. Remember, drug dealing wasn't illegal on the SMP, but they were unjustly shut down anyways.

They intended to manipulate and lie to create the SMP's one and only Monopoly of drugs on the server, which is not a strong foundation to build a nation upon, especially one that will last. This is simply my opinion, and is not meant to create any offense, just sharing my thoughts, and I wanted to clarify my previous comment. 💛✨).
I also think Dream went overkill in his punishment of L'manberg, which completely fueled the fire of further bloodshed, which in light of the finales, might have been a purposeful choice, since war and quarrels result in more death, which allows for more experiments on the plethora of various after-lives.
Resolve can come from the darkest of places, and Tommy and Wilbur’s resolve came from a dark place and shined on the path that was meant to be followed
Willpower comes from one’s desire to do something, and Tommy’s determination and willpower came from the desire to protect L’Manberg and everyone, same with Wilbur and everyone else.
Their resolve may have been from darkness, but their will and determination took them on a great long path of resolve and revenge.

As someone who just dropped themselves out of the fandom quite abruptly I just want to say how unbelievably beautiful this was. When I tell you I have been in literal tears since the first few seconds of this, I really mean it.
There is something so simple about the subject, something lingering in our hearts as what feels like a memory of the past, a memory stowed deep in our hearts, that only rises when the time is called upon. This was something that could have brought even the toughest of us to shambles, something so distant that it feels unreal, the feeling of nostalgia. Most of us were there for these moments, we grew up with the people in the Smp, and when times in our life grew hard, we resorted back to them in silence, our worries leaving us as our minds were drowned in something greater than we ever thought we’d get ourselves into, and as the strongest of us fall down, may we pick each other up once more, differences aside, and grow as L’Manberg once flourished.

I think you could always tell that Wilbur was eventually going to become a villain. From when he changed Tommy’s house to the Embassy without permission or consent to a certain sentence ‘Tommy I want you to do whatever your heart says’. But he stumbled before that got out. And I thought I almost heard Wilbur say ‘Tommy I want you to do whatever I say’ but corrected himself. So yeah I think Villainbur was planned from the very beginning.

okay, I'm aware this is one of the most beautiful, nostalgic things I've ever seen, but as an animator I feel the need to talk about the fact that you animated a nearly 24 minute video. A very rough animatic for half the time would have been insanely impressive as is, but you somehow managed to do complete lineart and coloring, with full-on backgrounds as well, with even conistent, dare I say, climbing, wonderful quality to it as well. This is one of the most impressive things I have ever seen. You have insane amounts of talent. I hope you didn't burn yourself out making this, even if it was two years ago, it's always good to take breaks

1. Your art style (two years ago at least) is very simple, even for animation, but you did a great job highlighting the most important stuff so you focused in the right thing and even had time to do whole backgrounds!
2. YOU COLOURED THE WHOLE THING AND DID LIGHT AND SHADOW, ARE YOU INSANE?! THE AMOUNT OF WORK! AMAZING!
3. I am most impressed by your ability to know when to change shots and perspective. For me that’s the biggest challenge because you want to keep the scenes interesting without being to jumpy by changing every two seconds. In my eyes that is the biggest quality in this work.
Conclusion: You’re clearly an animator, not a sound or video editor judging by some long pauses or the final cut of the music (but I am being picky here, I am also a perfectionist). You animation choices and what you did at the drawing board is amazing and I love how you even took the time to animate speech! In my opinion that is something special, most TH-cam animators skip because it takes so much time and gets boring very quickly, but in the final product it makes a big difference. I am so impressed right now and I’m happy you decided to upload this!

1. Yeah my art style is still super simple (for animations at least), I always think that simplicity is key to making something memorable and definitely help with efficiency. Also, don't get fooled by the backgrounds, most of the time it's just the same background horizontally flipped over and over again lol
2. Thank you, I've always struggled with coloring and lighting so I'm glad my effort payed off
3. Choosing shots and making the animatic is my favorite part of the process so I'm not surprised that it stands out. There are definitely some rough spots were I rushed a bit, but I'm glad you enjoyed it regardless :D
Yeah the reason I put that little disclaimer at the beginning is because I knew there are sooooo many inconsistencies but I just couldn't work on it anymore for my own sanity 😭
Also, just so you know the reason the music is messed up is because the original music I used was copyrighted so I had to find a cover the song to be able to upload it, but at that point I had already animated the whole thing so there was nothing I could do to fix it without removing exorbitant amount of work. The audio was also edited in imovie so that didn't help at all with the quality.
Trust me, I am also a perfectionist so this bothers me WAY more than everyone else

Since you obviously put so much work into it I wanted to give constructive criticism and I’m glad you took it that way. Btw your idea for backgrounds is pretty smart. I didn’t even recognise you did it like that. I think I will try that method in my projects. Also I forgot to give you a sub, gonna do that now so I can see how your new projects develop. Maybe that way we will exchange animation tips in the future. :)

I teared up quite a few times during this the memorys of the past just really hit hard.
Even if you're not in the fandom anymore, which is quite understandable as to why you wouldn't be, I also have been trying to distance myself, this is an amazing sendoff. The start of it all, the little references and expressions tie everything together. I haven't kept up with lore, and I never really have, but through it all, it's nice to see how it all started. This is such a fluid, long, meaningful animation. I'm a mediocre artist, but this is very inspiring, and I think (I know easier said than done) you should be proud of this. Maybe it's because you hold yourself to a higher regard, or something else, but you should still step back and realize how beautiful this all is. It's rare to see this long of animation, fully colored and shaded, detailed and fluent throughout. It is such an accomplishment to be able to create something like this. Two years ago was different for all of us, and two years later will be different again but at least take a second to love yourself for trying, for being determined to finish it even if you didn't like it, for everything. You're amazing amazing human, an even more incredible artist, and if this is from two years ago, then maybe you've improved, and then you can be even more proud. I'm terribly sorry for the long long comment, I don't usually write these this long but, considering all that you've said and done, I wanted to salute you a little.

Having Ozymandius read AND showing the destruction of not the 16th, but L'Manberg's FINAL death is so chilling as we watch Tommy give up his disks for a doomed nation.
And the shots of Tommy's eye blinking with the discs are great!
I really love all the background details and body language you gave everyone! Lots of cool cinematic choices that bring this to live so immersively. I respect if you're not happy with it, but that is a sign that you've improved since you made it! AND that your vision is ambitious, so it's only a matter of time until your skills match your ideas. And then you'll be unstoppable!

4:10 Everyone remembers Tommy’s version of Dream’s tyranny which was basically Dream not giving back Tommy's disks but honestly he was arguably harsher on Tubbo. Burning his villagers and iron farm wasted weeks of work.
Granted this was because of poor wording of the rules but Tubbo couldn’t catch a break. L'manburg was a safe place to hide for these oppressed people.

When I clicked this video I wasn't expecting an actual animated video matching with events and voice clips. And the frickin' L'mangerg anthem playing in the background as Wilbur writes the Declaration of independance? Awesome. So very very cool

This was just..absolutely beautiful and a great sendoff to an amazing SMP with such a surprisingly captivating plot. You captured everything so perfectly. Not just the animations and expressions but the balance between the music, the little moments that lifted our hearts, and the dramatic scenes that we all know and love. Amazing work.
Holy shit…I loved this so much. I have been feeling really down since the Dream SMP ended and while I’m still not over it this has helped get me closer to closure. It helped me reflect and reminisce on the great times that the server and the people have created.

I searched up DSMP animatics to see if there aren't new ones and my god this community never dissapoints, this was insanely well done I LOVE the little tidbits of goofing around, it really sent me back to those exact VODs💙
As someone who was never able to get into this for the life of me, you just gave me the most digestible summary of the story I've ever heard! And of course from an animation standpoint (which I understand much better) I know this was an incredible undertaking and amount of work. This really turned out amazing, and I'm sure you've done the series justice :)
Now, we have to wait, yet another few months of agony and inpatience, for episode two.
Wow. I also left the fandom of the Dream SMP a while ago, but that time, recent as it was, does hold a special place in my heart. It’s been three years, and yet I consider this story and the ones after it to really constitute my childhood. I’m happy to see it’s still alive with us, even though three bitter years have went by like nothing.
