Yes you are right! South India contributed many things to the culture of Uttarakhand. In some of our "jagars"( religious songs in praise of gods, demigods,dieties and heroes)..there is a mention of "dakshin Pradesh", which is southern India. Many castes are of south indian origin like 'lingwal' ( lingayats of Karnataka) and 'dimri'( namboodris of Kerala).the instrument named "hudka" is same as the instrument in Kerala called "edakya".And many more things.
