- खस्या, एक ऐसा शब्द जो पहाड़ों में या तो दबे-छिपे बोला जाता है या राजपूतों को छेड़ने-चिढ़ाने के लिए इस्तेमाल होता है. अक्सर राजपूत लोग ख़ुद को खस्या बुलाए जाने पर बिदक भी जाते हैं. लेकिन क्या वाक़ई खस्या एक अपमानजनक शब्द है? ये शब्द कहाँ से आया, दुनिया में कहाँ-कहाँ इस शब्द का प्रयोग होता है और आखिर कौन होते हैं खस्या? इसकी तफ़सील भरी पड़ताल के लिए देखें बारामासा की ख़ास सीरीज़ हाईलैंडर्स का पहला एपीसोड हिमालय के खस.

I am Khasa from Upper Himachal . This research by you is totally flawed ...First of all your Aryan migration theory is wrong ,just study all latest theories , migration happened outward from India not towards India ...that was flawed history propagated to Indian ppl by Europeans ...Also Khasas were indigenous Himalayan tribes which went outward ...there are many places in upper Himachal like Khasdhar ,khashapat etc which are named after them ...just want to point out that u r looking into this from Aryan lens which is completely incorrect .

In Himachal Khash is used by natives proudly, not taken as slur and has numerous varna. Proving varna were never birth based.
All khash legends in HP indicate Khash were native to India and migrated to Himachal UK etc when sarasvati dried up. Just as greeks, parshwa (persians) left India post 10 rajan war in rig vedic period more than 10 millenia ago. Cities like Birhana (11000 years old are proof).

Here, Rajputs from plain were very few and hence became part of Khasha society so much so that no one sees any difference in Rajput and Khasha as both claim to be descendants of ancient Kshatriya. There are some theories regarding the origin of rajputs but regardless they are considered kshatriya.
As for Khashia, they are ancient kshatriya although in Manusmriti (If i remember correctly), people were advised to not consider them so for having abandoned the codes of Kshatriyas ( became Buddhists or didn't follow Brahmanism). Queen Didda of Kashmir was daughter of Khasha chief of Rajouri btw. So regardless of Kshatriyas from Plains(Rajputs), or Khashia from hills, both are kshatriya and now since Rajput became the common word instead of Kshatriya, there is nothing wrong in saying that both are the same and can be treated as a new clan like Bhatis, Rathor or Baghela rajputs who are associated with particular places. Hence the term Khash Rajput.
Don't know why in Uttrakhand situation is different from that in Himachal and Nepal.
@Ali Hamza Madarchood ka Papa Ankit😁😁 Kinnouris in lower region are also khahsia who married local mangoloids. As for us looking similar, khasia is not treated as a race like in Nepal. Here Khasia is a caste. Brahmins are still called Bhat (just like in Kashmir) who write in script similar to Sharda. Also, we are genetically very diverse now so much so that even brothers have different skin tones. Probably in the very past we were a race but not so anymore.

In my own village most of the families have kinship ties with around 12villages in Sirmour, Shimla and UK and their common ancestors came from Udaipur or around. In sociological terms, here the process was reverse Rajputization,ie Khashiyazaton!
There is no difference, hence you would see here people having Rajput surname as well as Khasha surname based on family name or the village based.

Sahi bola. Himachal wale apne ko khasiya bolte hai. Par uttrakhand mein Khasiya logo ka jab se rajput se intermixing hui hai woh apne ko Rajput kehte hai na ki khasya rajput. Same for few brahmins, some brahmins were khasya but now they call themselves brahmins only. You will find brahmins in Tribal community of Bhotiyas too. But they call themselves bhotiya.
Uttrakhand ke logo mein ucchh jaati hona jyada important hi gaya hai par apne khasiya hone par unhe koi matlab nhi.

@@surajchauhan123- the Mongoloid looking people are 35% of the population of Nepal (Danny Danzongpa), Khas are 35% of Nepalis population, 25% are Madheshi people same as like in UP and Bihar(Udit Narayan). Khas are generally fair, big eyes, long crooked nose. Some Khas are dark too. Mostly Khas are Aryans (think Manisha Koirala)
Khas bhasa hamare Nepali, Gadhwali, Kumaoni, Himachali bhasa ke foundation bhasa hai. Jahan par aaj Nepal hai, 5th or 6th Century mein wahan par Khas Kingdom hua karte the, somewhere in Central Nepal area. At that time there was no Nepal, no Garhwal and no Kumaon. In this entire Himalaya region, the Khas culture and language was prevalent. Please do not rely too much on British historians, because they have written history that are false and that serves their purpose. Read history written by Nepali historians as well who were independant of the Britishers.

2. जहाँ कही से भी आपकी जाति बिरादरी के लोग पहाड़ो में आये होंगे वहाँ जरूर उसी जाति केे लोगों के बड़े- बड़े गाँव और नगर भी होंगे ? क्योंकि जिस जाति के आप है उस जाति के सभी लोग थोड़े ही चल दिए होंगे हिमालय में ?
3. जिस जगह को आप अपना मूल स्थान से जोड़ते है वहाँ आपकी ईस्ट देवी की प्राचीन डोली संभाल कर रखी गई होगी और देवी देवताओं के गीत बहुत प्रचलित होगे ? साधारण भाषा में कहे तो केरल और राजस्थान में भी नमडू बाबा, गोरिल, भैरव नचाये / अवतरे जाते होंगे और आपके घर के देवता का मूल स्थान भी वही होगा ??
4. हिमालयी भाषाएें जैसे गड्वाली, कुमावनी, जोंनसारी, नेपाली, हिमांचली, पहाड़ी, डोगरी, कश्मीरी आदि भाषाएें राजस्थानी, मलयाली, बंगाली और कन्नड़ का मिला-जुला स्वरुप क्यों नहीं है ?? या हमारे पूर्वजो ने हिमालय आते समय हरिद्वार में स्नान करके अपनी भाषा भी धो दी होगी और फिर नई भाषा सीखी होगी ?? ऐसा है क्या ??
5. आज भी पहाड़ों में दक्षिण भारत और राजस्थान से शादी करना और अपनी बेटी का रिश्ता वहाँ करना गर्व की बात मानी जाती है क्योंकि हमारा इतिहास वही से जुड़ा ?? क्या यह सच है ??
6. कुछ लोग कहते है कि पहाड़ो पर लोग इसलिए भी आये क्योंकि मैदानी क्षेत्रों में बहुत युद्ध हो रहे थे और जबरन धर्म परिवर्तन किया जा रहा था यानि कि डर से भागकर पहाड़ों में आये है ? ऐसा हो भी सकता है लेकिन अधिकतम युद्ध तो मेरठ, दिल्ली, हरियाणा, पंजाब, हिमांचल सिंध, करांची के आस पास लड़ें गए तो धर्म संकट मे कुछ लोग हरियाणा और दिल्ली से भी आने थे लेकिन वो तो दक्षिण भारत और राजस्थान से आये ? युद्ध के बाद कुछ लोग वापस भी जरूर गये होंगे यानि वो हमारे रिश्तेदार होंगे ??
7. लोग तिब्बत और नेपाल से क्यों नहीं आये होंगे जबकि वह तो सबसे नजदीक था ??
पहाड़ों पर क्यों आये होंगे लोग यहां तो जीवन कठिन रहा होगा । आसान जीवन छोड़कर क्यों आये होंगे ?? अपने हाथों से पहाड़ों को खोदकर खेत बनाना कितना मुश्किल रहा होगा ।
खस यहाँ के मूल निवासियों में है लेकिन इस पहचान से अधिकतम लोग अपने आप को नही जोड़ते आखिर क्यों, कुछ तो कारण रहें होंगे ।
कई लोग मानते है कि वो दक्षिण भारत से आये लेकिन, भाषा, संस्कृत, मान्यताएं नही मिलती है । यहाँ जो देवी देवता माने जाते है वो और कही नही है । अगर आज भी हम पलायन को देखे तो अधिकतम लोग बेहतर जीवन की तलाश में ही जा रहे है तो लोग कठिन जीवन जीने क्यों आये होंगे ??

But there is some truth about the theory that Khas people were the original inhabitants of the Himalayas but then again I don't think their ancestors came from Central Asia. Infact maybe the Khas people migrated from Himalayas to Central Asia and Europe. Indian govt needs to do fundamental research on this subject but alas we have a fake Hinduwadi govt at present that is a puppet in hands of their western masters.

जबकि आज भी यदि कोई मंदिर या भवन निर्माण हो ,प्राचीन मंदिर या भवनों निर्माणकर्ता हों, यह अन्य कोई Nirman Kala जिसमें सीढ़ीदार खेत बनाना, खेत में दीवार बनाना, जल निकासी की व्यवस्था करना , आदि काम में जो कुशलता रखते हैं वे स्वयं को कोई खश नहीं मानते; बल्कि वे लोग स्वयं को नाग, कोल,किरात बंशीय बताते हैं ।

Everyone knows Rawat was not even a word . We were called “Rout” and there is sub division among Rout/Rawat. Even today, in rural areas everybody says Rout not Rawat. Pta nhi kya history hai iske peeche but seems history is quite distorted and not many pahadi scholars have written it down perhaps back in the time kinner, kirat, koli, nagga and khas were not educated enough to keep a record of their history. perhaps Rishi/Muni and Babas who came to Himalaya and wrote down holy scripts like Ramayan and Bhagwat Gita chose not not write about history of ancient people who originally used to live in these barren land and who made these mountains liveable, carved those beautiful ladders fields, made unique culture and customs.
