I wonder what Stompy thinks about hugs. Cuz birds have various ideas about personal space, but they also choose violence so I'm impressed a modern dinosaur is so cuddly.
I’ve wondered the same thing! I’ve also wondered if maybe it’s one of those ‘tricks’ they teach them that are actually positioning for health check-ups and stuff. Like how lots of large zoo animals have a command to open their mouth and hold it to check their teeth but the command is like ‘Smile!’
@@claireconkling5651 probably a trait Stompy just picked up. Intelligent animals can notice their “parents” doing something and mimic it for no reason other than parents do it so I should too. Like that one panda that’s been trending that mimics their human parents and does things like a human would even if they could do it in an easier way because theyre a panda. At least I think so, birds are smart so I wouldn’t be surprised if Stompy just genuinely knows that’s something you do for affection.
@@OwlpoAnimations Most birds are absolutely NOT smart lol. Most are beyond stupid. A few exceptions however are VERY smart. Crows/ravens, some parrot species particularly African Grey.
Idk if its just me, but I thought it was funny that Poki was leaning in to kiss Georgie just as Maya was explaining that he absorbs everything through his skin. xD
Marmosets were one of my special interests as a kid XD I had a little mini suitcase and I used to print and cut out pictures of bunnies and marmosets lmao
Honestly fascinating watching people interact with animals when they’ve never worked with animals before, growing up on a farm I just naturally learned a lot about animals
As an australian who does own a blue tongue DO NOT GET THEM AS PETS!! Unless you buy from a reputable breeder and/or you can see their setup (see babies and parents.) Often times adult blueys are taken from the wild as when they cold they don't fight back to being held. Not only does that reduce the numbers in the wild, they won't be social and will try and bite you. They are very high maintenance as pets and can live up to 20 years.
@@BD-zg7is I know, I made this post months ago before I'd seen a lot of her content, + she mentioned it in this video, I just wanted to add a testimony from someone who does own one as a pet that they are bad pets
As an Australian who grew up catching & handling heaps of Blue tongue lizards I can say with confidence most of them will try to bite you if you pick them up while they are warm but if they're cold they're chill af... If they're warm & won't chill out, you hold them with your finger & thumb on either side of their neck & let them dangle they chill out after about a minute & become docile... (not really sure why it works, but it does)
hey maya ! i know you probably wont be able to respond but if anyone else can answer this question; my friend is considering getting a cockatoo soon. I'm really worried this isnt a good idea and that they're underestimating their care level and how often you have to be with them etc and they say they plan to keep them in a cage often :( how can i convince this person to not go through with this? any video recommendations or anything i could provide to convince them they'd be causing the bird suffering?
also to add to this i think videos about why a lot of animals shouldnt be pets and why they'd suffer despite tons of attention would be really helpful to the world
I'm not Maya but if I was in this situation I'd try to point them out the fact that they don't seem to care about the animal's characteristics and human-animal interactions beyond short term entertainment. Basically once that novelty wears out they'll know how their interest on that bird is rather rooted in boredom and ego and not actually the animal itself and everything it represents. If I can't convince them, I'd just start arranging things from now on to just take it away once they stop caring about it and take it to a sanctuary.
My mom got a parrot when I was 2 years old. She put him in a cage and rarely took him out. For years he sat in that cage with nothing but daily food/water and just watched my family move around the house. He began to attempt to escape his cage and he did many times, when he escaped he would fly around the house screeching and attacking us. He was aggressive and I can't blame him, he would draw blood. Eventually we had to give him away and the person who took him in was just some guy who wanted a bird, and he died shortly after (probably from stress or maybe the random guy who bought him from us wasn't feeding him often enough, we don't know). My suggestion would be to tell your friend to do actual research. Send them articles on the amount of work a bird actually is, how the cages people lock them into are often way too small, and birds can grow to resent you and become aggressive from lack of attention or care. It's definitely a terrible situation to be in to watch someone essentially abuse an animal because they didn't have any idea what they were getting themselves into from purchasing one, my heart goes out to you.
When Maya was talking about how Noodle keeps food webs in check, and she explained how it balances life out, Pokimane said, "As it should be," and I thought, 'That's what Thanos believed.' I guess that it just goes to show that there are ways to accomplish things that don't involve killing half the galaxy.
I typically think streamer girls can be a bit extra for me and assumed Pokimane was like that but she actually seems pretty chill and surprisingly mature. The other guests were nice too. Well what a just lovely episode.
yeah same I kinda procrastinated watching this one but love mayas stuff and I want to support her videos so I watched it. And Poki and the others actually seem to be nice so maybe I'm really just judgmental and should give more people an actual chance :D
Viewers go to a zoo. Learn more fascinating facts about animals. What a wonderful channel for humans who love animals and animals who love other animals. So cool! Very inspiring and refreshing to see reality lectures.
Alveus is great but I think you should nuance the education. Cattle and other ruminant animals account for about 4% of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, according to the U.S. Environment Protection Agency (EPA). Research shows that removing all livestock and poultry from the U.S. food system would only reduce global greenhouse gas emissions by 0.36%
I agree with you... I love these videos and streams as they're fun and entertaining but sometimes it feels a little more entertaining than educational, maybe they can work on making the script more detailed and put more attention on what they say. At the same time though it has to be entertaining to keep people watching so I understand why she keeps things short and sweet.
l dont understand from where maya gets all this money. Buying this property, home and maintaining all of this is ''not'' cheap and feeding the animals is also expensive that is ''alot'' of food that needs to be bought. Mayas stream is not even close to as big as asmongold, nicks, sodas etc.
I feel like she makes a good amount from donations, as well as her TH-cam channels/streams. She is running a non-profit so she probably gets some amount of funds from the government, maybe? And from what I see, she puts most of the money she makes back into the sanctuary.
It wasn't a scam necessarily, It was just overpriced as shit and she talked down to people who couldn't afford it. She's done plenty of other super shitty things though, don't you worry.
How damaging is methane really to the environment? I'm sure all that methane goes back to the grass and trees which the cows use. Plus all that black gold cows produce
Yeah, no. A few cows and sheep won't hurt the environment with the amount of methane they produce but were breeding billions of them. Methane itself is a pretty potent greenhouse gas and on top of that, it gets oxidized to (among others) co2
@maxs.3238 I think your overreacting more methane means Grass and tree will grow more. U should be more worried about the chemicals that they put on the air, food and water, not cow farts.
@MrGoldfish30 that is quite simply not how that works.... more methane and Co2 in the atmosphere first of all means that the planet is heating up more. I think you should read up on the topic before talking about it
@maxs.3238 no your gas lighting and fear mongering, the world goes though changes nonstop. But cow farts are not even close to being dangerous. Go talk to real farmers and environmentalists. Cows are not a problem, so are bison, water buffalos no.
