My grandpa was a farmer and ended up with two knee replacements. In the later days he rented out his land for other farmers to use and rented out the barn and pasture to a lady for her horses because he just couldn’t do it by himself. Having all those animals like Eric does must be just so much work I can’t imagine how hard that is on your body

i love how amazingly tame baby goats are. i found one on my farm newborn got out of a hole in the fence and he was so happy to hang out with me! i’ve had baby kittens hiss at me before

When you're a farmer you can't stop, your animal and crops are literally your money (payment for the medical bill which could ruin his life). Not only that but if you don't do chores that he would do every day and rest instead for a week he would work non-stop after that week just to get back where he was before
1) As the farmer's money is bound by labor done by the farmer, he has to work because that's how he will pay this huge bill for that knee surgery. Resting means going homeless because of medical debt.
2) It's insane that you can't take a week off work because it could VERY EASILY render you homeless. Most people don't have $300k in savings, and one serious medical emergency is what decides if you will have a roof over your head or not as it's the first asset debt collectors will liquidate. We have to have a normal healthcare system, we can't no longer function like that.
3) Dads will be Dads, they will listen and follow EVERYTHING) doctors say EXCEPT to take a rest/take 1-2 weeks from work.
Must be hard in America with having to pay those bills and stuff for sure. My dad has no excuse I am there to do stuff for him hahaha
If this was my neighbor I’d literally never be at my own house, I’d just be with the goats all day!
But if you had an animal sanctuary and your hobbit house on your property you wouldn't want to leave even if you've got an awesome neighbor like this haha. Dilemma is insanely hard, but as he got knee surgery the answer is simple at that moment.
I'm just gonna say it. I love this sweet old baaaing man. Maya, you are one one lucky duck to have so many wonderful experiences. And such a sweet neighbor. Like genuinely. I hope you have lots of fun with him and his whole farm!
We are doing our kidding season right now too. It can be kind of frustrating if either the mom or the baby won't cooperate during nursing. we keep them in a little stall so they don't get away from each other. And we have a camera on them
so you're doing better than maya's cameraperson then! they were just filming maya getting sat on by a dog while eric was actually latching the kid... altho i guess the silly mom was getting too easily spooked, but a little zoom onto the real action would've been nice?

Watching this made me think of Sunflower Farm Creamery and their goat videos. Every year around this time they post a bunch of videos on the new baby goats that are born. Favorite time of year purely for that, I absolutely love the videos that consist of just a swarm of baby goats running after one of the caretakers 😂

I love that dog, he reminds me of my dog i used to have. He was a Pyrenees and Anatolian shepherd mix, and he was the sweetest big baby ever. Id be sitting on the ground, and he sit in front of me, then throw himself backwards so he'd be laying on my lap. He also used to scare the coyotes off of my neighbors farm that was in front of our drive way (we lived down a one house road, and the field was in front of our house in butt fuck no where tn where our dog was allowed off his leash since he stayed close to our yard and didn't wander) He was a good boy.

I also feel that pain with Nubians, that’s what my mom raised and about half our babies ended up being on the bottle. They just don’t always know how to be a mom unfortunately
