@@Immortal_BP awe yeah that might be. im not justifying the development of sweet and caring behavior through abuse. i do appreciate her love nonetheless.
Siren is such a sweetheart aww. I definitely wouldnt want a parrot pet but i love visiting my friend who is a falconer and has a pet parot who is well taken care of.
That’s the difference though. Your friend is definitely not a beginner with wild birds to be a falconer. So it makes since they can take good care of a parrot 😊
@@KittyMax97 Well yeah that's what I was kind of stating is that my friend isn't some noob lol she can take care of her birds for sure! Because yeah as much as I love animals and even have a pretty good understanding of them, I'm not a professional (also I am autistic so the hellish soundscape that these bird make mixed with my sensory issues would drive me to psychosis lmao)
As a pet mom I feel this. Other people see your pet cry and wine, and all you can do is stand there and and sigh. Or how your how your pet acts extra pathetic infront of your mom like you have not fed them in days.😅 Siren knows what she's doing, and she knows a sucker when she sees one.
Fiona’s reaction to siren is why I’m thankful for ppl like Maya and projects like #Alveus. We could use more animal sanctuaries esp here in the States what w all the rampant gators down in Florida lul #turkeyday #givingthanks #spirituality
I used to visit a pet store in New Hampshire. They had a hyacinth macaw that belonged to the owner of the store who had recently passed away. The macaw was depressed and would sit on a perch overlooking the store. One day I was admiring the koi pond and Sapphire climbed down and started nuzzling me. Best feeling in the world.
I like how she highlights the dangers of the exotic pet trade, to the animals themselves and their wild population and also the environment. People treat animals like fashion accessories, and its all about how this object can make me feel better when it is another living being.
I love siren so freaking much. That little bird is so manipulative I just love her so much.I would be held hostage by her. I'd become a pistachio farmer just to make her happy.
A tour of the major injuries on each finger on my guitar hand goes: samurai sword, butter knife, chef's knife, box cutter, chain saw, other chef's knife, awl, and recently; scalloped potatoes, and a machine that said "don't stick your arm in here, danger." A macaw bite on someone else was the worst finger I've ever seen. Looked like someone spit out a pork chop. We need nerds b/c I'm Civil War-ing that off for you. There are ways to save but, screw that!
my parrots definitely understand what they're saying 😂some just know the context of when something is said, but others will ask for things. i have one that says 'do you want some' for food and 'do you want some water' for drinks. another will say 'are you okay?' if anyone crashes or hurts themselves- definitely doesn't know what it means, but knows for sure i'm about to say it lol. a lot of the times they just like to mutter nonsense tho
Parents don't know the exact meaning of words but sometimes they can get context. Like for instance a friend of mine's Amazon parrot was told careful when it would fall or do something dangerous. So it was handed the toy but the person handing the toy to the bird dropped it The bird went careful.
For some people connecting with animals (especially wild ones) can be a really meaningful experience! Especially when they have a sad backstory and they're in a place that's helped them and given them a good life
As someone who has 2 parrots (a cockatiel and a lovebird) for almost 2 years now honestly they are DEFINITELY not for everyone especially if you are barely home, you really care about having no property destruction and you like complete silence. Apart from that caring for and training 2 parrots has been one of the most rewarding things I have ever done and I wouldn't trade either of my parents for the world. They're incredibly intelligent and loving animals and they deserve all the love back. ♡
siren is such a diva. i also remember my ex that has a macaw the raised from an egg that didnt like me for the same reason my cat didnt like my exs, and current partner. attention
I wouldn't trade my African Grey for anything.... she also assumes that everything that's mine is hers... I announce her as Mother of none, Destroyer of everything. I never knew birds could bring so much joy until she came into my life.... but they do legit destroy everything they can get their claws on, I've had scenarios where I turned my back to her for a split second, and then... destruction. Ive also noticed that African greys may not understand the meaning of words, but what they do extremely well is build up a word and action association.. for example, Maya mentioned Siren will say hello everytime someone walks in, its not because she knows what it means, its because shes realized that the action of someone walking in, is always associated with the person saying hello to her, so she mimicks it.... my parrot has learnt that when sleep time is over and the sun comes up, that it's time to say good morning ... she also knows that every morning I let her out of her cage a bit to enjoy some freedom outside of it, and so when I take too long to open it for her, she'll tell me She wants to come out... i dont think she knows what shes saying, but shes smart enough to know that when she wants me to open the cage... she should use those words and then it happens.
Ok I know nothing about owning birds but I have seen so many videos of African grey’s talking so I can’t help but think that Mia would talk more if they didn’t have an incessant chatterbox in their ear all day lol
people get them has pet without realizing how demanding they are , they demand tons of attention and also maintenance and $ for proper living space and say good bye to peace and quiet in the house
And pony up the dough for captive bred animals if you do decide to go into bird/animal keeping. Itll be a healthier animal, better captive in general, and from the reptile world we have farm bred imports too which should only be for breeders needing genetic diversity really. Idk i felt compelled to mention it, as while Im not in the bird keeping world I am deeply in the reptile world and its common practice outside of those who buy animals with little experience etc.
but issen't the best pet cuz they also can imitate a drill or something else and then u have workers all day around (the bird) if u like a talking bird u can better take a budgy or Lineolated Parakeet
"She’s sad you’re leaving. Is that what she’s doing? Is she crying?"
"No, she’s insane."
i don't know if birds can cry, but i've seen cats do it :S
12:42 this needs to be Twitch wide. “birrrrrrrrthdaayyyyyyyyy” progressing to yelling it.
Noot Noot… NOOOOT! NOOOOT! NOOOOOOOOOOOOT! 🐧

I love my parrot. He does bite pretty hard when he is in a grouchy mood but he usually is in a great mood and he isn't that loud.
