I want to say that this is very much a more personal video for me than most I put out. I hope that other people enjoy it, but at the end of the day... the first and last parts of the video were for me. For me to open up and get a little more personal with my audience than is typical.
Thanks for covering Pokemon Adventures. I own the 4th volume and I am planning on buying every volume currently out, although its going to be slow since I am in the middle of buying One Piece and Naruto Omnibuses, I have 6 One Piece and 7 Dragon Ball Z single volumes and 1 Naruto. Pretty good imo.
I currently own the first two Pokémon adventures collector’s edition volumes, although I’m also in the middle of collecting one punch man and slam dunk, which I can see is your favorite manga
Totally! I think the Manga does its job the best. There is a lot to criticise about the games or the Anime, but I can't really complain about the Manga.
Definitely loved the video. I have been looking into getting the manga version of Pokemon and this probably sold me. Loved the personal part at the end as well!
I really enjoyed this video! What an era, it was such an immense part of our generation being the first to talk about or bring Pokemon cards to the playground. Through you talking about this time period, I got to thinking that this franchise was a gateway for us into video games/anime/card collecting... so many memories flooded back, and I do believe that Pokemon was also my first RPG in a way because all my other games were multiplayer and platformers or shooters. I'd love to see more nostalgia based videos, I'm reading older comics now and loving the time capsule feel of it :D
Had a smile on my face from the moment you started talking to your mom until you ended the call with your sister! Thanks for sharing that. :) Such a great addition to the video... I am going to have to do that with my dad but he will probably mostly grumble about how he had to spend so much money on Pokemon everything for my brother and I. Haha
These got me back into manga, I loved them just pre ordered 6. I love how they follow some things but still have an original story that’s not padded down for just kids
I've never played any Pokemon games as my parents didn't buy me video when I was very young. However I was obsessed with the original anime for awhile and remember the gold Burger King cards (I have my card but not the Pokeball it came in), as well as seeing the first movie in the theater. And I do remember when all the games were coming out, even if I wasn't able to partake in them. Good times. The manga seems like it could be a lot of fun. Even if it's atypical and not something you plan to do often, I enjoyed the trip down memory lane in the second half as well!
Just recently started collecting these! I have up to volume 6, and I plan on buying them 2 at a time as volumes 7 through 10 come out. I also plan on getting the box set for Diamond and Pearl/ Platinum as well as the two volumes for Heart Gold and Soul Silver. These Omnibus volumes were what caused me to fall in love with this manga.
I love the Pokémon Adventures manga. When I was a little kid the library where I lived had like the first 2 volumes of it and I read them, but I was never able to find them again. Until I remembered that a couple years ago and bought the first two box sets. It is so good.
On aside, does anyone know if Black & White, Black & White 2, and X/Y will get a Full Volume box set like the previous story arch's? (as opposed to the mini-volume box sets they currently have) I know B&W 2 just finished last year and X/Y is ongoing, but from what I understand they finished the full volumes of Black & White back in 2015, and still no box set... Is it normal to take this long? Because otherwise I'll just hunt for the volumes separately.
I like Pokemons, i grew on Pokemons, playing games but i dont know since i am now in early 30's is it still good for someone in those years or for younger audience.
It is an awesome manga, and really breathes fresh air into the nostalgia feeling (for those who grew up playing/watching Pokémon). It just started coming out in my country and I get review copies, but... yeah, these editions look so cool :D Awesome video, I always enjoy your storytelling skills.
i have some very fond memories of being 5-6 years old and going to burger king trading nights every tuesday. i collected all of the toys and had the gold cards as well. i played pokemon blue on my color until college when i finally had to part with it lol ( this was 2012 or so). pokemon will always be really special to me, it was the first "fandom" i was a part of.
While I had watched the anime mainly, I rarely played the games, expect Yellow. But for a good while I had wanted to get the Adventures manga, after seeing a brief review on it, always seeing the box sets, I thought to get them, until seeing Viz wanting to make the Collector's Edition, I starting getting those. I just got Volume 5 last week, while hopefully getting Volume 6 tomorrow. With 10 volumes it brings the story up to Volume 29 which ends the Emerald story, I really hope they release more of them.
i wanna get into buying these. what would i go from after vol 10 of these collectors manga? do go to diamond ? i just wanna make sure i get everything in order even if they don't have the collectors ver like these in the vid. ive only watched the anime an play the games growing up so i do wanna get these.
I’m yet to read the manga but I grew up watching Pokémon and getting the cards and playing it on ds, now that I’m older I believe I would love Pokémon adventures as I hear it’s more mature then the kids show😂 I hope they continue to make these editions till it eventually catches up
I've heard conflicting info on the Collector's Editions. Some say it's better image and paper quality, but others say it's poorer paper quality and the pages are see-through? To me, the collector's editions are appealing for cost (compared to box sets which are $80-$90 each), but IMO it's just not worth it if it's a sub-par product. I heard the spine can break easily on some omnibuses.
Man hearing someone talk about how they'd link up with friends for Pokemon....bruh that hits me where I live. Almost teared up remembering how I'd do the same on the GBA with G3. Some of the funnest days of my life.
Volume 7 just came out and decided to jump the gun on this series. I can’t wait to read it and definitely reminisce the good days when the games first came out in the late 90s. Cheers!
My only complaint is that they switched Green and Blues names in the English release. I understand why but it’s really confusing. Doesn’t help that the guy wears green and the girl wears blue after the time skip.
So I started to read the collectors edition of ruby and sapphire but when I went to look up characters on wiki the pictures were different than they are in my books. Did they rewrite them to accommodate the update? Now I actually wanna get the box sets and read them again if this is true
Its hard for me to find the first Collectors edition volume for its original price, now its expensive and I can't find it. If anyone can tell me where to buy it for its original price or lower?
Oh wow I didnt even know book 5 was the latest release of these versions! I just purchased all books to 5 since I was interested in the first two generations.
I think a lot of us 90s kids went through the same thing. Everything you mentioned, except for the washed gameboy, brought back great memories. I wish I would have kept all of my games, cards, collectibles, etc. anyway great video. It definitely also took me back.
I guess since we're talking about the relationship we have with pokemon I'll make mine quick not to over shadow you. Long story short at age ten my older brother bave me his copy of soul silver where I quickly fell in love with the characters and pokemon, one character in particular but I'm trying to keep this short, I struggled a LOT in the game but, for the most part, I got through it OK. Finding some of my favorite pokemon in this game, in particular Nidoqueen in the form of Lilac, or as I would latter title her, Lilac the unbreakable. Half the time I literally won from her alone until the elite four. It broke me till about a month latter I finally beat it. Much latter I found the adventures manga and I've been a fan ever since.
man, i love slam dunk and i believe you would love hajime no ippo, give it a try if you can. one of those sports manga that you can read even if you dont like sports. hope you read this
I'm trying to buy the singles. If diamond and pearl and the black and white manga singles get super out of print I might get the omnibus volumes then. I'm glad viz is still doing their best for the series.
I think ultimately you can get the collectors editions cheaper, but they’re also not collecting past Emerald/FireRed/LeafGreen so if you want past Gen 3 and want the books to match up then maybe the box sets. I always prefer larger editions so for me these are preferable
Really hoping they'll continue past fire red and leaf green. Gen 4 is really good from what I remember, and gen 5 onward never got proper English releases, just these mini volumes.
Black and White is actually available in full volumes, but everything further than the first two volumes of BW2 is only in the mini volumes for now. The full volumes for XY are currently being published in Japan, so we can expect to see them in english eventually.
This video is in my watch later and I'll definitely get to it, but I have to say that I love your videos. They've inspired me as I'm sure so many others to collect manga and love it, and take care of their books. Would you have any advice to myself as someone who wants to make manga videos and talk about series, but doesn't have the access to good editing software and time/money to put into videos?? I'm not asking for pity, but wanted to reach out since you are a big channel and you clearly love what you do here. Sorry for rambling, but I've actually been here since 2017 and nothing ever "sparked" my channel to grow like so many others have and it's a bit disheartening. I've wanted since the age of 13 to make a channel that got big quickly, but I don't think I can keep an adequate upload track record and I can't very well produce "quality content" but want to try and do my best to make videos anyway. Maybe we could collab sometime about a topic/series?? I'm sure there are manga we've both read that the other hasn't and vice versa, just a thought. -- a loving fan since the end of 2020 Ritzy
Just make videos you would want to watch and be true to yourself. Don’t try to make the content you think other people want because it won’t come across as genuine. As far as editing and stuff you can film a pretty good quality video just using a phone camera and there might be decent editing software to use for free or cheap. I use iMovie, which comes preloaded on Mac computers and I think has a mobile version as well
@@omnibuscollector The thing with editing is that I don't have the storage anywhere to toss clips and eventually have to attempt to save/render videos on my work laptop which on there I use OpenShot Video Editor, though my laptop only has 28g GB of RAM and it's been full for a year since I got it for Christmas in 2019, and I barely have anything on it. I can't free up any space because I only have three applications I use and need. When I try and use OpenShot to edit, the video files take anywhere from 5-8 hours, to a whopping 12 hours to save/render, and then the space issue comes into play.. I don't know if it's m computer or something else. I'm saving my stimulus money to hopefully get a better laptop in three months or so, and I'm stuck with what I have. And my phone...I have no space for anymore apps on it as well, so that idea is out. And I mostly try and use my DSLR for filming anything since my phone camera is the worst due to me dropping my phone a few times--pictures are always blurry and I can never get good video with it. I'm thinking of trying to do one-take videos and go from there, as my DSLR can record up to 20min. That may just be the route I need to take.
@@SpiritKitten I think it’s because the international releases of Gen 1 was based on the Japanese Blue Version rather than the Japanese Red and Green so it was changed to match. It’s dumb justification and it’s used in everything. The only time they used Green as the name for the boy internationally is in FireRed and LeafGreen and that obviously didn’t stick.
my only complaint is the censorship.I enjoy reading something directly translated from the original source as that was the vision of the creator himself.
Thank >you< to let us spend some time with your family (or as close to that as that is) ^^ You"re all so cute and the video ended up rlly nice. I just wanted you to summarize your best scenes out of the manga or that you commented on two, trhree unrelated pages and their illustration. Maybe with some shocking death or explicit violence, a joke to show Red's personality, Misty... idk
If there's one thing I have to criticize these for it's the fact they didn't uncensor the art. We have stuff like blood and guts, and rotting corpses, yet the fanservice couldn't stay? I know it's not for everyone, but it's still part of the original mangaka's work and I'd like it kept intact.
Just a difference in culture. If they kept the fanservice they would have to increase the rating, and would as a result lose a ton of sales from parents buying for their kids. Japan and North America have different standards for what can be in a kids book is all it is.
That would be a bit different because out of my friends I was really the only one into it and by that time my parents weren’t as involved with what I was into. BUT I do have at least one piece (no pun intended) of killer fan art I could share.
I like the changeup honestly. Red is the Battler and Bulbasaur has the most type advantages in gyms while Blue (Green in JP, the guy not the girl) is the Trainer and Charmander has the worst gym matchups but he goes through them with ease. Really gives emphasis to their respective specialties.
Did he really NOT start taking about the subject of the video until 11 minutes in? My brain shut itself down waiting to get to that point, so i may have missed something
Pokemon is made for everyone to enjoy, all though it is geared towards a family friendly aspect. Noone is too old for anything, if they have a passion and love for it you shouldn't take that away from them just because "their too old for it"
Remember the little light that you had to plug into the Gameboy color so you could play at night? I had a green Gameboy Color and a see through purple light
My friends and I would sit in the back of his moms Ford Expedition and would play by the light of the passing streetlights at night lmao. So like every other second we could see what we were doing and would attack each other. No wonder I wear glasses now lmao

Would love to see a video like this for one piece
That would be a bit different because out of my friends I was really the only one into it and by that time my parents weren’t as involved with what I was into. BUT I do have at least one piece (no pun intended) of killer fan art I could share.
The only problem I had with the manga is red not having charmander
I like the changeup honestly. Red is the Battler and Bulbasaur has the most type advantages in gyms while Blue (Green in JP, the guy not the girl) is the Trainer and Charmander has the worst gym matchups but he goes through them with ease. Really gives emphasis to their respective specialties.
I like how dark it is haha compared to anime
Wow
i like how she said pokeman
Did he really NOT start taking about the subject of the video until 11 minutes in? My brain shut itself down waiting to get to that point, so i may have missed something
A little old for Pokemon, aren't you sir???
Pokemon is made for everyone to enjoy, all though it is geared towards a family friendly aspect. Noone is too old for anything, if they have a passion and love for it you shouldn't take that away from them just because "their too old for it"
Remember the little light that you had to plug into the Gameboy color so you could play at night? I had a green Gameboy Color and a see through purple light
My friends and I would sit in the back of his moms Ford Expedition and would play by the light of the passing streetlights at night lmao. So like every other second we could see what we were doing and would attack each other.
No wonder I wear glasses now lmao
