No no no, big heavy books = horrible reading experience. These omnibus are about as big as a manga should get before it starts becoming uncomfortable to read.
Your description of the story shows how much you love this manga. It reminded of the times I recommended Slam Dunk to my friends. You start with explaining the story and then say "…and he ends up becoming…" and the feels hit. I was intrigued before, hit I'll definitely buy all of it now, without even reading a single chapter.

I initially got into cars by the need for speed games, when I got introduced to Initial D by Arcade Stage 3, I was very hooked to the Japanese car racing culture. Got into other anime series like Wangan Midnight, Over-Rev!!, eX-Driver, You're Under Arrest, and now MF Ghost which have a tasteful selection of cars. I think if you asked most guys in car culture, their introduction to it was Initial D.
Looks like my local Kinokuniya is in Austin Tx and I’m in San Antonio so I’ll be taking a future little trip over there or getting it at B&N. This series has always been a great watch. Classic older anime title for older fans like myself. Awesome video bro.
I just read the first volume of a initial d and I would have to say I'm very much impressed with the the story I mean I'm not usually the type of guy that goes for that type of a you know drag racing type of manga but the way it's handled in initial d it's very interesting it's very much something that I'm definitely going to continue with the series and I definitely recommend a lot of people and definitely the covers are just amazing

If you have kindle unlimited, they have ALL of Initial D and the first 10 volumes of MF Ghost included. I read through all of it after hearing my bf has read it since he's into cars. I loved it but wasn't thinking of picking it up physically. But this video is really making me consider ordering the Kinokuniya version to share with my bf.

Initial D was my first manga. Not sure why 6 year old me thought I’d like it but I saw the first four in a set at RadioShack and asked my dad for it. I am so excited for this reprint and to finally get the whole story.

Is the bleed through as prevalent throughout the whole thing as the back of the volume? Shaman king omnibus has nice normal stock paper, I’m worried this has similar as the viz 3in1 paper quality
I waited for a long time for a new Initial D print. Part of me wants to wait to see if they make a hardcover edition to compete with Dark Horse and Viz lol... But I guess I'll pick these up in the meantime.
Hopefully this means Nodame Cantabile and Mushishi will get reprinted. Also, a question: What determines a kodansha release to have the square logo (like on Initial D) rather than the kodansha comics logo (such as on Land of the Lustrous)?

You’d be better to just go into a location and ask or just simply call the store. They might not have an answer at all because they may not have received word from the publisher or distributor yet about restocks. None of this would be kinokuniyas fault so it’s very unfair to say they’re losing customers who want to buy it when obviously if it’s already sold out this quickly they would be well aware that there are more customers who would spend the money for a copy.

As far as going in store, there are very few locations in the U.S. I live in Sacramento and the closest one is in San Francisco, which is much too far to go to. Also, it could be a limited release, that’s why I mentioned they would be losing customers for their variant cover edition if that is the case.
What do you think about the production quality of this release? Mine had groups of pages cut in different lengths and I found it was like that too in the other copies I found at a local b&n
God, as an Initial D anime fan who has always wanted to get into the manga but haven't got around to it, the release schedule for these are killing me, I wanna pick them up but it's gonna take forever to actually complete

We never get ANYTHING in the US. These are barely scraps. Europe has way nicer releases than we ever see here since France by and far is the biggest market for manga behind Japan. If you really want either just use a proxy shipper. They have stores send stuff to a warehouse in the US and then they ship it wherever you are in the world. Just search “proxy shipping service”
This comes off as an ad more so than an overview. I see many talk about how the price is too high and the paper quality is very poor (Naruto 3-in-1) level. This is a bad video for you. You are either making videos for the consumer and providing helpful advise. Or shilling for companies and this this video comes off as a total shill. Terrible path to go down and very difficult to have your reputation recover.

The full series, 48 volumes, have been available with Comixology Unlimited for years. I might read it this year.
