This was awesome. No idea why this showed up in my feed, but I’m glad it did. Really cool documentary that I had no idea I needed to see.

Lela was an evil shrew. Ginger wasn't much better. Pandro Berman hated them for good reason.

Too much credit is given Edward Dmytryk regarding the founding of noir. Stranger on The Third Floor, which was produced by RKO, was released years before Crossfire.

You're right. German Expressionism was a foundation stone for film noir and silent film directors used it. Some of them that survived the transition to sound, like Michael Curtiz and Alfred Hitchcock always had film noir elements in their films, especially Hitchcock since that was his trademark.

Edward Dmytryk did not start film noir. Film historians are now correcting the history.

You're right about Stranger on the Third Floor. For publicity's sake, it was ignored to highlight Dmytryk and rehabilitate his career for posterity after he named names at the HUAC even though it was 30 years after HUAC when this was filmed.

Dmytryk knew about German Expressionism and didn't want to give credit to the directors that influenced him with film noir so people could believe the lie that he invented film noir

Then , that's the stranger on the 6 floor named Oswald ...( Rabbit ).
RKO is connected to Kennedy .
      RKO is connected to Disney.
Aldous Huxley is connected to Disney.
C Lewis is connected to Disney.
RKO / dead Disney associates / Oz shooting.
I found it very odd that JFK met Judy Garland and her mom and her sisters in 1940.
      February.
The great Os shooting of 63.
      I ponder.

Propaganda in gold can be subtle just a few lines in a film not always loud overt and obvious

Ginger Rodgers was right about the sublties of Communism in films

    • @ricardocantoral7672
      @ricardocantoral7672 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Some major Hollywood films had pro-socialist themes but not straight communism. The Treasure of The Sierra Madre and Night and The City were very much anti-capitalist.

    • @Scorchy666

      1. its Rogers, not Rodgers.
      2. Ginger and her mother Lela were incredibly stupid, uneducated, and bigoted women.
      3. All films have some type of subtlety. Communism was never a threat in America, then or now. If you are so dense to be swayed by any movie for any reason you probably shouldn't go.
