In this video we will tell you all about #tearstains on your #Maltese dog. Why do they appear, what can you do to get rid of them and most important, what should you do to avoid these tear stains from developing in the future?
The cause of tear stains can be related to many different problems including health issues.
It could be a food allergy or improper nutrition that could definitely be a big cause. It appeared in some cases that dogs who switched to a high quality grain-free diet suffered less from tear stains after that change of food. Corn, wheat and other grains used as fillers in low-quality foods don't guarantee long-term health and can trigger allergic reactions, leading to excessive tearing and other issues.

I fed my dog chicken and white rice for a week and wiped her tear stains with warm salt water daily, that’s all I’ve ever done and my Maltese doesn’t have tear stains.

Why would you not dry them. ……if you wash the fur under the eye with this damp water…..how do you keep if dry without then drying it?

I’m very lucky my pup doesn’t have any. He’s a 5yo maltipoo all white. I just clean his eyes every day with my hand 😅 nothing special
My Maltese is 4months old and she is getting tooo much tear stains, we feed her Royal canin food, I do cleaning on regular basis but still it comes back, please let me know right solution
This is the same for my Lilly she is 7.2 months and I clean her eyes 2 or 3 times per.day
I was told by a vet not to feed my two with Royal canine because it’s made in China and they don’t follow food quality regulations and restrictions as the Australian brands do. I know it cost is high and people think it must be good quality along with many pet stores and vet clinics sell it. 🤷🏼♀️ it’s up to you if I were you I’d try the Australian brands…

Those 3 dogs are not pure maltese. Maltese do not have curly undercoats.
