Yep. Every time i have to go off track to avoid something in iracing i think "oh crap 1x" but then I think "better than a 4x.". Really wish I could just be thinking "glad I avoided that now let's get back going." I really wish iracing had an option where at the end of the race you could take responsibility for a 4x contact so the other person won't get penalized. Sure not everyone would use it, but some would.

@@dazturner1576 like real racing you get 3 strikes for cuts that gain you time or position. Big cuts that gain lots of time etc obviously give you penalty straight away as it would in real racing. Cuts that gain you nothing/lose you time are shown as just warnings

Hey Dave! Just as a friendly tip, you're revving out the Camaro a bit too much. You want to shift more around when 6 or 8 of the green dash lights are up rather than all 10. Revving out 3rd, 4th, 5th (4th and 5th especially) is worthless, its optimal RPM range is waaay lower than you'd think. Bang out some hotlaps at Monza and keep an eye on the delta, you'll see what I mean. Cheers!
Good Race! Love this car! Sounds so good and you can just murder the curbs. 6th gear is just about useless though. Just posted a bunch of races I recorded in 4k with it too. So much fun to drive!
Wow most of the time when people record a video of their screen it comes out poorly and hard to follow. This was very watchable; the moody lighting probably helped a lot too. I love my ultrawide, mixed with a very soft trackIR setting, it adds a nice bit of awareness.

Dave, is the samsung monitor you have the 1800r curvature? Do you think the curve is enough for simracing or is the 1000r better? How is the 4ms response time for racing? Is it fast enough or is 1ms really needed? I wanted to know if the Samsung G9 is a better solution for simracing or if the CRG90 is good enough?
Are you using ACC's triple screen rendering option? Or are you leaving that option off and either using or not using the projection correction in view settings? I have the same monitor and both options cause some sort of side effect in the game.
How do you like this compared triple monitors? Of course you don't get the splits between monitors, but is the fov as wide and I guess with triplets you can turn them in more ie. making them curve more making fov bigger? Is the model: C49J890 or something else? I'm running 100% with VR now and been thinking of maybe getting triplets or that one biggie because things get quite 'sweaty' at least during summor with VR.
@@davecamyt Thanks. I have two 24" monitors already but they are too small for racing. VR was cheaper at the time than tripplets so that's why I went there. Also takes less space. VR is also nice because you can look more what you could with fixed monitors. ie. peaking if you have wheel/wing damage on open wheelers etc.. :) Face just gets sweaty on longer race and picture isn't as clear as on monitors.
@Dave Cam i noticed in this video even though a year ago so maybe different now ive not noticed but when you were heavy braking your body would go up, are you aware your not give full pressure at the brake point you believe you are even though only ms of time that is the difference between braking at the right place with the right pressure, So how fast you are as a driver this would allow you too brake much later. Dave, thanks for the effort in showing the ultrawide. However, the over-the-shoulder camera does not put us in your perspective and the angles are a bit extreme making it look very stretched. Maybe centered above the head position might make the angles normal? Otherwise, it looks very nice. I'm pretty sure you have all the FOV you need.

Love the look of it but worried about FOV compared to my VR (valve index). One of those plus 2 27's would be sweet but I don't think iracing would allow me to run different size monitors.
I did like the mix of camera and game capture for this one and good racing as always! On a more technical note, do you find the rear mirror being so large on screen unrealistic? Do any sims out there have accurate multi projection for these 49” monitors I wonder? Triples is obviously well known but these super ultra wides are a bit newer to the party
Great video as always Dave. I have the same monitor as you and wondered what margin you put in your view settings on the left and right HUDs? I’d like to replicate the view you’ve got.
I enjoyed this view to see your hands and feet. But, I believe that I prefer the other view. I like to watch the real time splits and my eyes are not good enough to read them.on the screen in the over the shoulder view. Thanks again for sharing your races!

Do you think it's a better option for ACC mixed with other genres AAA Titles to go on 49" SuperUltrawide, or a classic 1080p*144hz*3screens option is better ? I still would have another basic screen for monitor in adition to this... No need to talk about GPU, Upgrade prepared with Ampere/RDNA2 Thanks for the answer.
@5 Red Lights I use a 60Hz 4K TV now, and my main reason for wanting to upgrade is to get a better refresh rate. Do you have any opinion on how important that is? Would I really notice a difference vs. a TV?
@Toronto Jay if u go for 144hz yes there is a big difference and I guess that if you are playing on 4k u have a high end gpu to be able to run at high fps (on1080p or 1440p) . I think that in high paced games such a racing simulators high refresh rate is important bc the image moves super fast and u want to be able to react and see things as fast as and smooth as possible
Toronto Jay having been using 144Hz monitors for gaming in general for the past 4 years, when I’m presented with a 60Hz monitor while gaming it doesn’t look smooth anymore There are probably other factors to consider like whether your TV has any significant input or processing lag or slow pixel response times, which have improved in more recent years, but you’ll probably find a high refresh rate monitor a better experience (if your GPU can handle it)
@@lebojay Yeah there is a noticeable benefit when playing at framerates above 60 Hz. But for me, it's not as big of a deal as it is for many others. Also, as long as I always hit a constant 60 fps then I'm pretty much Ok. The reason why I got the is super ultra wide monitor was more to do with resolution than framerate. The pixel density on my 40 inch 1080p tv's was a little too low. The Samsung is 1440p and obviously has a much shorter height and width in comparison to my triples and so the pixel density is massively improved. But I must say, when I race with the Sammy, I do miss the sheer super wide FOV of my triples, but when I race with my triples, I miss the supper high resolution of the Samsung. I guess nothing is perfect in this world.
Is this as good as 32” triple setup? I’ve got one Dell 1440p s3220dgf 165hz. Should I get two more or go for this samsung? Is there no distortion what so ever when you put it in ”triple monitor mode” with som degrees?
Wish I had space for an 32:9 monitor. 21:9 is the maximum. Do you consider the g9 odyssey for your rig? The 1000r curvature seems to be pretty interesting for the immersion
I also went with this one. A bit small then triples and less problems one the configuration side. Also dont forget your GPU. Its 1440p almost 4K. But you can also drive it 1080p native if you want.
@Miguel Lopes Question about the GFX card. What are you using and what kind of card would you recommend? Got a feeling my RX580 might not cut it 😂 Thinking of upgrading to an RX5700XT but I’m in no rush, might wait until the next NVIDIA/AMD cards are announced later this year.
Dave, still wondering if smaller diameter of Cube could be an issue for some type of cars such as Porsche cup 911. I do use Turn replica Vantage 300mm wheel which is just sweet spot I think but I really consider to buy new wheel in upcoming weeks and Cube is in my final selection alonside Ascher (also 285mm diameter) and Turn R20 + button plate (300mm). What would you recommend Dave because you have your own experience.
Today I should be getting a Cube GT1 Lite wheel which is a bit bigger than the formula so I'll compare. Saying that, I've found the formula pro wheel to be perfectly fine. It felt smaller at first but once I'd gotten used to it, it felt great 👍
How hard was it to get everything set up initially for this aspect ratio? How far do you have the screen from you? How do you convert your fov between the games. And do you regret getting this instead of triple monitors? Just looking for any pointers on setting this up if I decide to purchase it doesn’t my initial sim rig set up
I used to sit around 65cm away from the screen. The Ultrawide is pretty easy to set up and dial in the fov. I went back to triples for the extra fov and immersion, but the super ultra wide is a superb compromise. 👍
What's your fov set at? Btw, those (32:9) are usually referred to as super ultrawide. 21:9 is a typical ultrawide. I've got a nice ultrawide but just don't have the space for a super. Really like how you can get a good view of the side though.
Tnx for the vid. Hopefully samsung will send out the once we expected and i might order one. Maybe i missed that, not sure, but i’m curious what your previous monitor was? For fair comparising and your thoughts about that.

There are probably other factors to consider like whether your TV has any significant input or processing lag or slow pixel response times, which have improved in more recent years, but you’ll probably find a high refresh rate monitor a better experience (if your GPU can handle it)
Thanks gents!
Hi Dave, being inspired by one of your previous videos, I purchased the 49" Samsung 2K monitor - love it!!! Curious, how is your monitor mounted?
What the hell is going on with that rear view mirror? Looks bloody massive!
Are you using OBS? How did you get the game capture to look normal and be a thin bar with a ton of black space on the top and bottom? Great vid!
Your field of view is great. Are you simulating triples? If so and you use iracing too would you share those settings? Thanks!
What about VR?
I think I like the ordinary view better. That 1st person view
Camaro FTW
what do u set your fov on please dave i have same monitor
Can you advise on the mount and fasteners, size and length required to mount this on to a 8020 profile stand?
It comes with an adapter so you just need a regular 8020 Vesa mount 👍
Wish I had space for an 32:9 monitor. 21:9 is the maximum. Do you consider the g9 odyssey for your rig? The 1000r curvature seems to be pretty interesting for the immersion
do u think adding 2 27" monitors on the sides will help with immersion?
Thanks for the 49” view. I’m on the fence about it as space is too limited for trip 27”s.
I also went with this one. A bit small then triples and less problems one the configuration side. Also dont forget your GPU. Its 1440p almost 4K. But you can also drive it 1080p native if you want.
@@AndreMiguelLopes69 How can you drive it 1080p native when it's 1440p native?
@Miguel Lopes Question about the GFX card.
What are you using and what kind of card would you recommend? Got a feeling my RX580 might not cut it 😂
Thinking of upgrading to an RX5700XT but I’m in no rush, might wait until the next NVIDIA/AMD cards are announced later this year.
I run ACC in 3840x1080 👍
@@joby602 this monitor as this rare feature and could be used native as 1080p or 1440p. You can see the review on TFT Central.
@@davecamyt Doesn't the triple monitor pull much more on the GPU and require more tweaking to get everything right even when you change cars?
What's your fov set at?
Btw, those (32:9) are usually referred to as super ultrawide.
21:9 is a typical ultrawide.
I've got a nice ultrawide but just don't have the space for a super. Really like how you can get a good view of the side though.
There is a link in the description to my view settings 👍
dave whatsa youre fov on on this monitor please please ?
Dave! Surely by now you must be missing your triple screen setup? If not, were the issues?
I like the moody lighting.
fov setting? the link is no longer available
Tnx for the vid. Hopefully samsung will send out the once we expected and i might order one. Maybe i missed that, not sure, but i’m curious what your previous monitor was? For fair comparising and your thoughts about that.
Prior to this I was running 3 1080 144hz 32" screens 👍
Dave ? ... in obs can you tell me what is your record settings ? cause it looks good! When I record it has pixels problem specially on black.
I use nvenc new, vbr, minimum 30000, maximum 60000 I think
