Nice start. Dont really like the train line in front of the airport. Could do with more hotels, offices, light commercial near the airport and the railway station on the main line only but well connected by road.
nice build, a few things: -The service roads don't need to parallel all the taxiways, most airport vehichles are authorised to drive on the taxiway -The service road is also waayyy too close to the runway, the cars are just gonna get sucked into the engines -Also most airports revamp their runways every 6 months to a year, so it wouldn't make sense to have one of them looking run down, that just wouldn't fly (pun intended) (sorry) -Quays need to be wrapped all around the airport that touches the sea to prevent erosion - Side note: the old control tower is likely to remain and not be demolished.
That's true, but some runways look lighter than others because they were made using different materials, so I think the older runway was made using different materials from the newer one, hence the color variations
Also, the tower depends on the airport manager and the airport traffic. Some airports might demolish the tower if the airport is not big enough to need an additional control tower or if the airport isn't busy enough
Very good airport build so far, however the train doesn’t stop in the suburbs on the way back to the airport, some parking lots and hotels nearby for the next one but very good
Ah, good point Paul, should probably add a stop! And don't worry, we are far from done with this airport, we will be adding lots of parking as well as an hotel in future episodes! ☺
Great build! One thing I can say is that the current layout of your roads doesn't allow people to loop back through the airport. If they want to reenter the airport drivers must loop all the way back to an interchange.
Fellow airport nerd here. I like your addition of service roads in this build. I'm sure you have enough people telling you about the airport logistics so I will stay lurking in the shadows for now. Also, I'm going to have to report that runway incursion at 39:44 to the FAA.
Very nice build! The spots where the service roads intersect with the taxiways, you should change those segments and make them the service road with the checkered black and white markings on the sides. Well done tho👍
Ahh, a 1+ hr long video of my favourite CS series Coniferia, just what I needed after an awful week. Thank you Infra! Not a fan of airport builds but as always you made it enjoyable as much as every other build of yours!
I wonder when you are going to find out that your airport will not work. Only the stands on the old terminal will allow departing flights. None of the stands will accept incoming flights. Check the directions of the taxiways.
As someone who works in aviation, let me tell you, that steep approach on the darker RWY, over the hill, will never ever happen in real life. A/C like an A320 approach on a glidepath of 3.0 degrees. But, I love your series. Faithful watcher.
Hi there! Pilot here - the terrain height on approach is in fact - a bit unrealistic. You don’t want anything above a 3% glide slope to the runway (while maintaining 100ft of ground clearance) for at least the last couple of miles before the runway. The terrain could use a bit of reduction 😄 definitely not too bad though. I like the build! Edit as I’m watching: Yes taxiways cross runways. You need clearance from tower to cross any runway Ok bigger problem: your airport looks cool but within the game is currently non-functional. In CS the taxiways are one-way, and the way your taxiways are set up right now makes it so that there’s only an “out” segment connected to each aircraft stand, which means only outgoing flights can path from the aircraft stand. Two solutions: one: connect the aircraft stands from the side instead of 180 so that a plane can go into or out of the stand. Second solution that keeps your look is to reverse the direction of half of those taxi segments to “in” segments and have half of the stands be for incoming and half for outgoing flights. Gotta do one of these so that people can arrive to your city via air. Right now they can only leave!
In reality, there are a few airports that mainly support two main cities in a single metropolitan area. In the US, there are DFW Int'l Airport and MSP Int'l Airport. In South Africa, there is O.R. Tambo Int'l Airport (JNB) supporting both Johannesburg and Pretoria. In some cases, a single airport can support two metropolitan areas and one of them is Bradley Int'l Airport (BDL) that serves both Hartford, CT and Springfield, MA and another is Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) that supports both those namesake cities just miles south of Cleveland.
@@wand3rlu5t, DAL Love Field is the first airport serving the Metroplex and is a large regional airport. DFW Int'l Airport is a new second airport that replaced the declining Greater South West International Airport (GSW) (original 2nd airport) and is a mega world class airport.
You see this being the case in many regional aspects as well in addition to the major international airport 😢examples you cited. For example, I live in Midland, TX and the regional airport serves both the cities of Midland and Odessa, a region of roughly 300k population.
For a region the airport looks quite good for its' size :) Around the airport it would be nice to have a business park, establish low density industry/commercial/offices and warehouses.

Great video as always… a few comments 😅 the airports needs turnaround points for both terminals as well as a way to get from the international terminal to the domestic terminal… another one and extreme danger hazard… lane mathematics! Both the incoming and outgoing Highway connections to the terminals with your current configuration would have cars turning in front of each other to get to their respective terminals or trying to exit the airport area. Finally that elevated highway leading to airport would not make sense unless the the area was like swampland … it would cost a lot to build in an area which at the moment has no real reason to be elevated. Otherwise so stoked for the airport!!! It’s been a long time coming
You made a mistake when building the Airport - Pine Harbor train line. It only stops in Danton coming from the airport, you forgot to add the stop going towards the airport.
Hi, I'm new! I personally prefer this way over city builder video's where everything is preplanned. If this is your very first airport, you're an amazing builder! I think that even scaled down, the airport is still a bit disproportionate to the rest of the city. That said, it is once again a very fantastic build - especially for your first time building one.
So obviously you already have plans to fill this airport out a bit which is certainly needed. Many commenters have mentioned specifics but it seems like you already have a plan for future episodes regarding the airport. My only suggestion would be that the one runway you were asking about whether the hill would make it difficult to land on it, I’m not an airport pro or nerd or anything but I do feel like that particular runway would make more sense if you flipped it. It would be easier for a plane I’d think to climb elevation quickly as opposed to having to land at a sharper angle. So I’d vote for just simply changing the directionality of that runway and it should work out overall “fine” from a realistic standpoint. One more note: you need to employ a better taxiway system as your airport currently can’t support incoming flights. I think someone else may have mentioned this also. All in all great build brother; really like the scale of your airport as compared to the region.
besides what other people have said, one inconsistency I noticed is that there is already a CIA airport, being Romes secondary int airport. other then that, love the video!

The closest real life example would probably be something like Samos, Madeira or Paro, where the planes have to fly close to a mountain on approach. These are very special cases though, where pilots need special certification to land, and the planes would be much smaller, than in an international airport serving a city like PD. I would suggest lowering that hill significantly to allow at least 100 ft of clearance under the planes and making sure, that an approach path of at least twice the runway's length is possible. Apart from that and a few more nitpicky things, that others have already pointed out, this turned out beautifully!!

If you want to make your Airport more realistic, get rid of all trees on it and instead use bushes etc. Airports avoid planting trees because trees will make it more likely for birds to nest in the area. Planes and birds dont go along well.
I have no idea about airports but I'm pretty sure the runways are wayyyyy too close to the water. Probably needs some buffer land between the runways and quays..
Some airports don't have any buffer land after the runways, like San Francisco. Not a very big issue as going off the end of the runway is very rare and lots of airports have fuel depots or hotels etc. just past the runway which is probably worse than water
I dont get why every cities skylines youtuber needs to wrap up there projects becaude cs2 comes out... i mean its judt Vanilla... until you got the featchers which are now modded into cs1, it will be like a year...
You don't have flights 1. coz you don't have people come and go to airport. and 2. all your taxi ways from stands go out (one way) from stands. you should properly connect them
Hi Infra, do you want some additional advice regarding airports and airports in C:S? Here are some: - realistic runways are at least 280/300 (around 2,2/2.5 km) units long (this will not allow heavy airplanes, but only regional). Yes that's a challenge on this map. I know, because I have build my 6th city on the same map. But it is always feasible, even without terraforming. - C:S stands have to be connected in such a way that they allow arriving and departing airplanes Don't get me wrong, I like your series and I am always amazed by the other solutions players bring to the map that I am currently building. Keep going.
I am always open to feedback, so thank you for providing it! :-) As for the realistic runway length, I will likely not change that - it just looks out of place given the scale of the urban settlements of the region I am afraid. As for the stands - you are ofc correct, major oversight on my part 😅😂 Thank you! ☺

I dont get why every cities skylines youtuber needs to wrap up there projects becaude cs2 comes out... i mean its judt Vanilla... until you got the featchers which are now modded into cs1, it will be like a year...
short answer, yes. neither of those cities are big that big.
You don't have flights 1. coz you don't have people come and go to airport. and 2. all your taxi ways from stands go out (one way) from stands. you should properly connect them
Er du fra Danmark synes jeg kan høre det😅

Hi Infra, do you want some additional advice regarding airports and airports in C:S?
Here are some:
- realistic runways are at least 280/300 (around 2,2/2.5 km) units long (this will not allow heavy airplanes, but only regional). Yes that's a challenge on this map. I know, because I have build my 6th city on the same map. But it is always feasible, even without terraforming.
- C:S stands have to be connected in such a way that they allow arriving and departing airplanes
Don't get me wrong, I like your series and I am always amazed by the other solutions players bring to the map that I am currently building.
Keep going.
I am always open to feedback, so thank you for providing it! :-)
As for the realistic runway length, I will likely not change that - it just looks out of place given the scale of the urban settlements of the region I am afraid.
As for the stands - you are ofc correct, major oversight on my part 😅😂
Thank you! ☺
Lmao go on google and lookup international airports
