the man is an artist. why take away his right to perform. if people are buying tickets, let them enjoy how the music makes them feel. critics do not create.
What a bunch of nonsense. Nobody is trying to keep Genesis from touring However, keep in my mind, they are not touring out of the kindness of their hearts. People have to buy tickets to attend. In my opinion, without Gabriel and Hackett, this is not the version of Genesis I want to see. Not only is Phil Collins incapable of playing the drums, he can't even perform standing up. I am not intetested in paying to see Collins sitting in a chair either.
Awesome bloody awesome... I was there on Wednesday, Genesis are still one of the best bands to see live. Yes Phil is on a chair without his drum kit but has still got that unmistakable fantastic voice. Nick was brilliant on the drums, sounded to me like Phil did 30 years ago! Can’t believe I’m still going to see Genesis, live on stage after all these years 👍🏻 long may it continue 👍🏻🏴🎸
Thanks for posting. While it's obviously great to seem them up there on that stage again, i've always had mixed feelings about this tour, same as i had mix feelings about Phil's tour... I love Phil, always have since the 80's. I understand why he is doing it, but anyone can see he is nowhere being "the same Phil" anymore... Neither it's "the same Genesis" anymore. Part of me want's to like this and support and encourage him, but the music fan and musician part of me is in pain watching him perform, while not as bad as people are saying, to think back and remember Phil and how he was on stage singing and on the drums, part of me just feels like crying.... Still remember the Mama tour, Invisible touch tour, and then Phil's solo Serious '90 tour (epic)... remember being blown out of the water seeing him playing on that tour, Hand in Hand, The West Side, In the Air... The pocket and finesse in his playing was off the wall... And now just seeing him sitting there... man, it's hard to take... But i really wish all the best to the Tour, honest...
Agree Conan. I'd actually take it a step further. It was pretty amazing to see all the positive and supportive comments. It's like I'm looking at a very different video. I have known nothing of Phil for years. I'm not a huge fan, but listened to him big time in the 80s. Who didn't. Like David Lee Roth, whom I adored back 'in the day', Phil is very difficult to watch. Cringe-worthy, at least. I've listened to several of his songs from this evening and consider him performing as a 'rip-off' had I bought tickets. Rock and roll is fading dismally and nothing is replacing it. That is sad for me. I hate to see it go. That said, like myself, folks get old and have to face up to certain things. Rock stars are no exception. Frank Marino recently called it quits in a very public statement. It broke my heart, but, I'll remember him very differently than Phil.
Kay Bee I did have a Ticket for the gig in Manchester but I decided to let it go. Watching Phil in rehearsals shocked me and confirmed I'd made the correct decision. Genesis have been a big part of my life since around 1975, as have many of the prog rock bands, but seeing this is so sad, despite people giving it the thumbs up. There comes a time in everyone's working career when things start to go pear shaped. 2007 was the last Genesis gig for me, clearly this tour will come nowhere near those levels, and why would they, its 13 years on! Genesis tribute bands still create the sounds and eras of music I like so that's ok for me.
My eternal gratitude to these monsters of contemporary music. It would be beautiful if they made a small set together with: Peter and Steve on the one hand and with Chester on the other. And finally a set all together. Dreaming costs nothing ............... Thanks to all who keep us informed at the moment of everything that happens. Big salute
It's really hard to see what age has done to Phil. Really, really tough. I grew up with Genesis and Phil's music and loved it. I'm glad they're still getting out there and I hope this tour is everything they want it to be. I hope it's a great experience for them and I hope it brings them as much happiness as their music has done for all of us over the decades. They deserve that.
Thank you Genesis for the Final Tour. It gives everyone on both sides the chance to say goodbye and remember it forever. Many tears are shed. Genesis has always been 1st class and remained that way to the very last note played! God Bless You! 😢
This was fantastic that they're doing this tour. Phil's voice is still perfect and he is passionate about music and his fans. Great to see him going and his supportive son
I saw GENESIS twice in the early 80's, and saw Phil Collins on his own...and going to see him in NOV in Chicago - surprised my girl with (really good) tickets. Looking forward to seeing them, for this last time. Thank you, GENESIS, for decades of quality music !
They sound amazing - gosh I wish I lived in the USA or the UK… what I’d give to see this. Glad they’re doing what they love one last time. Phil did a great job.
I'm so glad that Genesis are on tour again. I wish them well. This tour will surely re-energise Phil Collins. He has a great spirit and sense of humour. Great audience too. Thank you Genesis and I take a bow to Phil Collins. :-)
Great performance and brilliant video that realy does portray these times, the toilet rolls and masks in the accompanying are very significant and sum up the madness of today.
Absolute legends and I don't use that term loosely. Damn illnesses and old age. Thank you guys for the entertainment and music and a special thank you for the person posting this video.
A legend showing to the world the determination, the commitment towards his audiences and creating everlasting memories. With time we will look back and remember him for all the greatness that he created since the 80’s. He walked into the industry when it was tuff and heavy metals were ruling the world despite he created an audience and the rest is history. Full respect to him and his band. 👏👏👏
Saw them in Manchester this weekend and despite Phil not being on the same level as years ago, it was totally worth it. They played perfect, vibes were great.
Saw Genesis 3 times, LAMB back in, what was it, '74 or '75 with Peter G, and twice in the 80's. Yea, time catches up with all of us, but the music is immortal. Rock on Genesis!
Yep. Saw The Lamb in January of 75 at The Shrine Auditorium in LA, Wind And Weathering 77 and the last time in 80. The band was never the same after PG and SH left. I think it's great that they're still making a go of it but for me, the "magic" left.
So happy to to see Mike, Phil, Tony ,Mini-Phil and the other gents here who help keep it sounding great!! I hope to sese you live swoon in the US guys !! In the mean time ..a strange phenomena has occurred. Spotify has been put on standby, The turntable needle has been cleaned and weighted properly ... and my Vinyl Genesis records are again filling the house with your great music!
I saw them in Leeds shortly after this, and they were totally outstanding- knocked it right out of the part, Phil's son an incredible and talented power drummer. Nice positive vibe between the guys onstage, even saw Tony Banks crack a big smile (not usually demonstrative in public!) and quite.moving to watch them help Phil off stage at the end. Though he's very immobile he had some great joshing with the crowd and I recommend going to see them live whilst you can!!!! Awesome show! Everyone was buzzing about the Birmingham show too as half the crowd had been there too!
I'm happy to see Phil has the strength to go out perform. He sounds good, especially for the age of the band. Look at some of the other classic rock bands. (it's so hard calling the music I grew up on as Classic) I would have been happy to have paid for a ticket to this tour, would've been really happy. Just one thing, get him a better chair, doesn't need to be a throne. Maybe mix them up. A nice leather smoking chair for the ballads and a barstool for the rockers.
It appears to be the same chair he had when I saw the solo tour in 2019. That one fell over at one point and Phil took a tumble. There was a collective gasp from the crowd.
The problem with the chair is that it’s much more difficult to sing in a sitting position. So I presume the chair Phil uses also was chosen from that point of view.
i dont agree. i shouldnt have watched this. im also into reggae music saw a clip of Burning Spear from last year 78 years old still rocking and jumping
Respect for Phil , this tour is incredible courageous! Tanks your for all your staff, I love Genesis since my 12' years old. Your band is élégant, inventive incredible sound . Please Phil, take Care about you.
Despite the criticism he still sounds allot better than allot of acts live some that sell out and haven’t been around nearly as long as them. No one ever seems to badmouth Axl Rose and he sounds painful.
From what I had been hearing I expected a lot worse. Still sounds good to me. His voice may not be as strong as it once was but better than most of his peers these days.
Given everything he’s been through, he still sounds like Phil, and that’s all we need. Anyone that’s seen the likes of Whitesnake live lately will know how much better Phil’s voice has held out than his contemporaries!
I saw in 1984-85 the mama tour and again in 87 invisible touch tour good to hear he still has his chops. Myself I feel like a relic from another time I’m 54 now!
Awesome Phil , you're a fighter and a great show men. Seen you then and your still doing your best Now, kudos. The world is sick and you make it feel a lot better you go for it .
I was there on Second night, what a wonderfull evening, great to see the band playing together again. Well done to the whole team, good luck with the rest of the tour. God Bless You ALL.
Well, its MONTHS later and hours and hours and hours of practicing. The voice is a muscle! It will be much stronger even at the last dates of the tour - if he doesnt blow it!
I’m no fan of modern music but Phil’s pitch and tone is so bad now. If he was singing at the end of my garden I’d shut the curtains. I certainly wouldn’t pay to see him.
@@prook2001 I get where you're coming from. Yes, Phil isn't able to sing, play and perform as he did in his heyday. No one could deny that but he was a giant of exceptional talent if that is an undertatement. I prefer to remember his greatness but I think this tour is not asking us to. It is saying goodbye and employing Nic on drums instead of Chester sad it may be is highly symbolic of handing the reigns on to another generation. I would imagine had Phil been in perfect health we could all live in his past glory but he is not. @@gregharrison5479 I’ll stick with my memories of seeing them several times across their heydays. Watching this anymore than to see what I just have would detract from the Genesis legacy in my eyes. Each to their own. I’ll hold the last time I saw them as my goodbye.

the man is an artist. why take away his right to perform. if people are buying tickets, let them enjoy how the music makes them feel. critics do not create.
💯
What a bunch of nonsense. Nobody is trying to keep Genesis from touring However, keep in my mind, they are not touring out of the kindness of their hearts. People have to buy tickets to attend. In my opinion, without Gabriel and Hackett, this is not the version of Genesis I want to see. Not only is Phil Collins incapable of playing the drums, he can't even perform standing up. I am not intetested in paying to see Collins sitting in a chair either.
I love Phill. It doesn'tmatter if is sitting, his poor health doesn't allow him to do more. Is a warrior. And his son on the drummers is quite good.
Quite!!!!!!!!!!!
Dear Phil ,You Will be the BEST ever Génesis live!!!
Sad ans proud about Phil's performance. Real friendship with his bandmates and his son.
strong drumming as dad.
Спасибо, Филл!!! С тобой возвращаешься в лучшее!!! Радуй нас как можно дольше!!!!
Phil is the only musician who performed on LiveAid at both places, Philadelphia and Wembley!
Thank's to the Concorde.
Thank's to the Concorde.
And was shite in US...ruined Zeppelin
@@adriankaill9413 no way, Page was drunk and Plant sang all of tune. Collins and Thompson was the best thing of that show!
We were truckin' past LaGuardia Airport that day when his Concorde landed. I remember seeing it comin' in for a landing.
Szacunek mistrzu... Dużo zdrowia i sił na tą trasę. Nicolasowi świetnie idzie... Zajebiście młody gra💪💪💪 tej piosenki mógłbym w kółko sluchac

I did have a Ticket for the gig in Manchester but I decided to let it go.
It would be beautiful if they made a small set together with:
Peter and Steve on the one hand and with Chester on the other.
Superb. Also loved the video playing at the back, this song is so appropriate for what's going on in our planet today
Phil sounds great on this one! Oh man I can’t wait until December!
Or here in Canada...
All Genesis fans around the world have to thank Phill,Mike,Daryl...to give us the previlege of seing them alive again.Long live Genesis.
I'm going to see them in Detroit in November, can't wait.
Fingers crossed they come here in Buffalo in November as well I just hope his health holds up
@@Davidjon1946 And COVID doesn't bucket kick the tour.
No one wants a decrease in physical condition like that.. including Phil Collins.
Phils left leg still plays the Hi-Hat!...thx for uploading! Nice to see, that these guys are still alive!!:-)
We love you Phil. Its been a great ride.
Thank you !
Good to you phill we made through the decades many have fallen ...the younger ones will appreciate our age...when they get here.🙂
Saw them in Manchester this weekend and despite Phil not being on the same level as years ago, it was totally worth it. They played perfect, vibes were great.
He’s back and jeez he’s still alive
Saw Genesis 3 times, LAMB back in, what was it, '74 or '75 with Peter G, and twice in the 80's. Yea, time catches up with all of us, but the music is immortal. Rock on Genesis!
Yep.
Saw The Lamb in January of 75 at The Shrine Auditorium in LA, Wind And Weathering 77 and the last time in 80. The band was never the same after PG and SH left.
I think it's great that they're still making a go of it but for me, the "magic" left.
My Fav 70-80’s Artist!!! Love You, Phil!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Uma das vozes mais fenomenais
que bom vê-lo fazendo o que gosta que é estar no palco cantando.
I need the money, I need the money , I need the money !!! Unbelievable!
All I want to say is, Thanks Phil, Long Life and God Bless.......
A nice leather smoking chair for the ballads and a barstool for the rockers.
better some wheelchair throne who he can move around the stage.
Pink Floyd can't even reconcile as 70 years olds.
Still fabulous. Thank you. From Spain👍👍 xx
Jp
From what I had been hearing I expected a lot worse. Still sounds good to me. His voice may not be as strong as it once was but better than most of his peers these days.
Given everything he’s been through, he still sounds like Phil, and that’s all we need. Anyone that’s seen the likes of Whitesnake live lately will know how much better Phil’s voice has held out than his contemporaries!
already have my ticket for Charlotte NC. LOVE LOVE Genesis
Amazing !!! This is real love for music and for life.
Never to old when it comes to music, Phil can still belt them out.
Listening to Genesis & Phil Collins is like entering an enchanted forest full of sounds and colors ! Love 💕 you deeply.
I saw in 1984-85 the mama tour and again in 87 invisible touch tour good to hear he still has his chops. Myself I feel like a relic from another time I’m 54 now!
So wonderful. All the best Phil.
I miss seeing Chester Thompson behind that drum kit!
We were very fortunate to see these people and enjoy their music. They will not be replaced
They were brilliant the other day in Birmingham, Phil smashed it
Awesome Phil ,
you're a fighter and a great show men. Seen you then and your still doing your best Now, kudos. The world is sick and you make it feel a lot better you go for it .
This is amazing. Land of Confusion with 2020-2021 visuals. TOILET PAPER!
I was there on Second night, what a wonderfull evening, great to see the band playing together again. Well done to the whole team, good luck with the rest of the tour. God Bless You ALL.
The "I remember long ago" part still gives me chills.
Good work you guys.
So Long Ago…..
So long ago idiot
Wish I could of went to this concert😇🥰🥰🥰🥰 I love you Phil Collens & Genesis
Phil‘s voice actually sounds stronger on this song than in the recent ‚Domino‘ documentary
Agreed
Yeah it does
Agreed 💯
That was rehearsals😮
Well, its MONTHS later and hours and hours and hours of practicing. The voice is a muscle! It will be much stronger even at the last dates of the tour - if he doesnt blow it!
I'd rather see Phil twice over any band in the charts because if they took autotune out of their act Phil would still sound better!
A true die hard Genesis fan like me recognises that his life now imitates his art, he is embodying the struggles he sang about. I would pay to see him try where others fear to tread. Thanks.
@@gregharrison5479 I’ll stick with my memories of seeing them several times across their heydays. Watching this anymore than to see what I just have would detract from the Genesis legacy in my eyes. Each to their own. I’ll hold the last time I saw them as my goodbye.
EXCELLENT! A truth speaker, great performer and an amazing personality!
Exceeded expectations. Love you Phil, always and forever!
Thank you very much for uploading this, I appreciated a peek at the band
If I ever possess the power of eternal life I'd pass it on to entertainers like you that make my life complete
He actually does not sound as bad as ppl are saying, I'm a professional musician of 30+ yrs. Phil still sounds very good for his age and health
70 years ... HOW awesome is anyone with 40 years on and off the road, Phil is great
Very true, I don't think some of the ppl commenting are musicians, they don't understand the true essence lol
No one wants a decrease in physical condition like that.. including Phill
So why did you say " for his age and health". Why dids't you just say he sounded good? You basically are saying he sucks then.
Hell yeah! Phil can still belt it!
They have dropped the pitch so low! I want to like it, love Genesis, saw them twice on the Invisible Touch tour...but OMG this is really tough. Prayers for Phil, I respect him for doing this
That key drop bothers me a lot too.. it's like it's not the same song at all
It must be extremely difficult to relearn a song you've played for years in a different key as your muscle memory will habitually go to the old way, you'd have to focus a bit more
He doesn’t have the range anymore, but Jesus, he’s 70 years old, Banks and Rutherford are a year older, and there out there doing what they love.
@@drexlspivey5828 Drop the tuning on the guitars and the keyboards would have an option to transpose automatically. So you'd still be playing the same notes and chords, it would just sound lower. Not like it was 30 years ago.
People...really! Its not 1986 anymore! Grow up. People age. Leave them alone....if you want '86 watch the video from '86.
All the comments about Phil, and I agree he was better than I thought.. but someone needs to give a shout-out to everyone else still knocking it out of the park too. Miss Chester though…
I miss Chester on drums as well did I hear that Phil’s son is now playing drums on tour with genesis?
@@glennfjenkins2702 Yes, Nick Collins is 20
@@pauli6043 That kid is so amazing what energy he has👍
@@glennfjenkins2702 Look at his dad when he was in his 30's during the 1980's...absolutely amazing
God bless you Phill ,youre still great and thanks for all the aweesome music you gave and great drummer also.
If people had a choice between going to see this and going to a show from years ago, this might be a bad idea, but clearly people are having a lot better time than they would staying home and watching old shows on TH-cam, so thumbs up.
