When I first heard this song, it was from Disturbed. I didn’t discover that Genesis sang this until I watched an episode of Pop-Up Video and I felt so ashamed!
Disturbed has good taste in music when you look at the songs they did covers of.
I heard genesis’ version first but I love disturbeds cover of it I actually like it better just like their cover of the sound of silence. But of course I love the original too

This song must be one of the best ever written. Music + Lyrics that is. I can easily envision this as suited for many more arrangements. I think you could easily translate this into latin rhythm based, or ballad, pop, metal whatever and it would still be very good.
There's a metal cover by Disturbed that's really good.
I'd recommend the 2006 live version on TH-cam.

Loved the MTV video puppets of the political leaders and Genesis. One the best video ever made MTV and was one the best songs by Genesis and Phil Collins personality how funny he was and it was his idea for the music video. This is a legend and legendary band.

One of my very favorite songs from Genesis and excellently played LIVE! I remember when Genesis released their album/CD “No Jacket Required” way back in 1986 that this song along with all their other hits from the album /CD, just pure perfection!
Though still what amazes me is that the song alone is so profound and prophetic concerning the Worlds current state.

His name is Chester Thompson. He has played with Zappa, Santana, Weather Report, and many others. One of the greats.
