Glad you sent it back joey. eBay sellers shouldn’t be allowed to get away with things like this.
There seem to be some people that think just because it's listed as spares and repairs they never have to give a refund. Dishonesty should never be rewarded.

Here's a tip from me that you can use to clean smoker consoles. I recently bought 3 broken Xbox 360s that were from a smoker and they smelled horrible. What I used to get rid of the cigarette smell is dishwasher soap, hot water and a toothbrush. It worked wonders. It made the plastic look like new and got rid of the smell completely. I also washed the metal cage as well but quickly wiped it and dried it with my hairdryer to prevent any corrosion. I tried with IPA but it made it smell even worse. I hope this helps!!
yep, i find actually hand washing everything that isn’t electronic with dish soap and water really helps too, all the plastic, metal shields as well as the actual heatsink and even the fan can be hand washed and as long as you give everything a good rinse with distilled water after and let it dry
It's a shame to see the Series X console like that. Had the packaging been wet, I would assume it got left in the weather. But evidence definitely led to the Seller being dishonest. Glad you got a return on it!
They probably took pictures of a good one they found stock to scam.
After repairing hundreds of consoles my golden rule is "Water Damage" is a death sentence for any electronics. I'm sure you knew that.

I’m a smoker , and this is the exact reason I do NOT smoke in the house . It’s already destroying my lungs , doesn’t need to destroy everything in my house . Plus it makes everything in the house stink . Well done Joey .

That was shocking from the seller . Was it even the same console that the pictures taken from. As u say spares and repairs is fine if it listed correctly, but having water coming out of it is a joke
he probs using same picture and sending different xbox and trying use spares and repairs kinda scam ebay needs to look into it
Hi Joey - great video and 100% correct for returning the Series X back to the seller.. even with the seller attempting to not accept the return. You are completely within your rights to return ANY item purchased on eBay that is not as described for a full refund - even those listed as "faulty, no returns". By the way, the Xbox One S with the E100 - to me that is likely to be a swapped motherboard (from a standard Xbox One S with Optical Drive) as the E100 00000703 80910002 is likely a pairing issue with the mobo and optical drive. To double-check, plug the HDD that you have attempted to rebuild into your PC and browse to the System Support partition, then open the 0.log file - if there is a log relating to a NAND and mismatch error then that mobo has been swapped from a One S optical edition - if so, I would also return that one to the eBay seller too!!
That first console was a right disaster. Only way of getting any sort of resolution was a "item not as described" case.
I can't even imagine how the lungs of the old owner of this console are haha
I'm not sure if this will work for every case regarding the hard drive for the one S, but I've had a similar issue with a 3TB drive once and managed to clear the pending sector count by completely cleaning the drive, partitions, everything using diskpart. then did a chkdsk /f which seemed to have cleared it. Never the less if that doesn't work then there could be physical damage done to the platters.
I brought a SP5 on January, but because I'm ill, I have not had time (mental clarity) to have a look at it.
Today I fill better, so I decided it's the day to do it.
The seller told me it switches off after 5 o 10 minutes of playing a game. You won't believe me, the PS5 was spotless inside, they even changed the thermal paste (bluetack) on all the electrical rails and chips!!! With thermal pads. Spotless job. But they put Thermal Paste, instead of liquid metal! What a mess!!!

Yeah it looked like that… a huge void where the disc drive should have been. Then again, I’ve not seen a digital only under the hood so maybe they all have that space.
@@mikefgroves looking at it, it's definitely a digital metal frame, as there are 3 screws holes above the optical drive opening, but there is usually a blanking plate screwed into those holes.
@@mrbridger5 The HDD looks to me like it was taken from another device. Why would it be marked and scratched if it has spent its entire life inside an Xbox?
That series X was a disgrace. I'm woth you on the fact they found that outside or it was from a flood house clearance. Also the cheek to try refuse you. They probably realised eBay would side with you based on the photos.

Isn´t the xbox one s motherboard from disc version putted in the digital chassis? I can see the sata connector on the motherboard and cd version won´t update without disc drive. Try to put an BIOS chip from digital version, mabye it will fix the issue

Funny thing with ebay, listings marked as no returns, can be returned.
I had a buyer send me back a console saying it didnt work, they went through customer services and it automatically did a return at my postage costs.
when i got it back, it was fully working but the seller wouldnt reply.
customer service said i should relist it and add the cost of postage to the buy it now cost.
But yours is a drfinate return, i just wish you would post the sellers name somewhere so we can avoid these people.
That eBay seller was an absolute chancer. I've never lost an eBay case because, when you put the points simply to the seller, their replies tell you they knew all along what was going on. They always hope on selling to a mug or someone who's weak. Remember, we've all got rights and protections as customers. If someone tries to scam you, force the return and make them pay for the return postage also.
I finally restocked up on broken consoles to work on. I spent $90 on 2 ps2 phats, 1 atari 2600, 1 xbox og, 1 wii u, and 2 xbox 360s, and a mk trilogy 64 cart. Most are supposed to be easy fixes cept for the wii u that has the 0101 error, but i will try voulrars pico soluation to see if i can get it working again,

Again ebayed... What a mess. Got a simillar case with a Switch Lite, fall damage in description, never opened before. Received it, liquid damage, corroded daughter board, fingerprints everywhere, display not working (only backlight) and blue screen after display replacement on top... :/
Wonder if its Vape residue.. It will get deep inside electronics, rust them out, and then the residue will slowly seep out when its led on its side or upside down. My friends sky box was leaking vape juice residue when turned upside down after years of heavy vaping.
Joey, the series X you got looks different to the listing as the one in the listing has a few scratches but you can not see them on the monstrosity you received. I would say a clear scammer who did not even bother to look up joey does tech lol.

5:30 I asked someone once about a laptop that had NO details at all about what the fault was, so i'd know if the screen was good or what. They said they don't know and it's for spares. I asked WHICH spares is it good for? What's the point in buying it for a screen if the screen doesn't work. It's just a cagey way of saying the whole thing is stuffed without admitting you know what's wrong.
Joey, do you normally use that drive for osu1? I've noticed weird behavior with OSU on different media. Also, the install doesn't like it if the drive with OSU installed has any partitions besides the primary, including any that aren't active. Disk manager should only show one partition and and empty space if applicable

Am really glad you dug in with eBay and did not just accept the first decision as it was very water damaged and had been for while judging by the rust build up, clearly a chancer, it Shame really that nothing was saveable but clearly that Xbox was ewaste and worth nothing
