I remember in 8th grade, all students were allowed to skip their current class to go down to the history class rooms where they had TVs playing his inauguration. Teachers explained the significance of this day but a lot of us wouldn’t appreciate what it meant until we were older.
4 years later I was lucky enough to attend his second inauguration

Mrs. Sauer, my second grade teacher, rolled a tv into our classroom so we could watch Obama’s inauguration. She explained the significance of this historical moment to us. The image of a black man addressing the nation as president, mirroring the recording of Dr. King’s “I have a dream” speech we had studied weeks before, cemented the fact that there are no constraints to our aspirations. For me, these images instilled a sense of hope in this country that I will never give away.

I was there! Freezing my butt off about a mile away but a day I will never forget. So many happy people around me; men, women, kids, all different colors and nationalities. Such a positive experience compared to the last few years.

I remember this day… My mom explained to me how historical this was. She told me that President Obama and Mrs. Obama were different, but that’s how God made them. May God Bless the Obamas. Love them or hate them, but they were truly my favorite First Family, and they are still missed by my family to this day.
I remember when I was in High School back in my senior year(2004) when class started my Economics teacher showed us an article about Barack Obama. And my teacher was saying that it's a possibility that he could run for president in the future. Me being a black man I'm like "That's bullshit." But sure enough he ran and became our President.

I was attending college when this particular moment in American history entered the scene, as I admittedly remember watching this on a plasma screen TV at my respective alma mater, albeit under its last legs as Adirondack Community College, which I currently reside 2.4 miles away from as of now. Just watched the farewell address, thought I'd come back to remember when it started. Regardless of your political stripes, I think we can all agree that this is a great man who will be remembered for decades to come. Thanks, Obama.

I explained it the same way to a fomer Obama supporter when l said that it was AMAZING how much he accomplished despite the fact that he was contending with Republicans who were intentionally trying to destroy him and prohibit him from serving America to the fullest of his ability.

I was working at a small country zoo in Northern O ntario when Barak was inaugurated. All staff had to go to the boss's house to watch this. We all went crazy!!!!! It was SOOO awesome!!! It was such a thread of HOPE!! Canadians were so watching this, and so hoping he'd become president, sooo hoping he could unwind the tensions of the US and so many other countries they're involved with. I'll never forget that day. He's been replaced by a game show host who plays the world by his stupidity. Do you have a well supplied bomb shelter?

What I still love, and always loved about Obama's speech is that it came from his heart and mind, he didn't read it, he had it in him.
As some one who lives in Europe, I believe this man has been more to America than most previous presidents. No matter what religion he is, or culture, or race. This man can help turn the wor;d around. 4 years is not enough. And this coming from a white South African.

I’ll never forget this day. I was in college for my second degree, and we had a free lunch while we all watched this. Two bald eagles were circling just outside of the amazing city view, which was SO wild. I don’t know if I’ll ever feel this way again.

Amazing day... amazing memories...
And for ONE DAY at my high school, one of the few days in ALL my days there, now graduated-
No one yelled, screamed, was angry, or hurt anyone in any way.
For one day, our entire diverse (I'm a Californian- I mean REALLY diverse here, you name an ethnicity, and we have folks from it) school... was at peace.

Truly, I must say - as an American (and a military man) - this is a true speech from a great statesman, a great thinker, and a true American... To say anything less of him is simply ignorant. Forget his color, forget his political party, he is one of the strongest leaders my country has EVER had.

Looking back on this, today we have Trump being indicted. And when I look back to the 90’s with Bill Clinton, I can only imagine how widely controversial his scandal was, just like today. Bush also had his fair share of misses. Obama however really didn’t seem to have any controversy, surrounding him, his administration, most policies. I mean what president doesn’t have policy pushback? Obama is such a fine and eloquent guy.
