Zach Johnson, the “Millennial Farmer” is a 5th-generation farmer who’s spent his life growing, working, and learning on his family’s farm. His wit and dry sense of humor appeal to children and adults alike. A product of the millennial generation, his appreciation of new technology blends with his old-fashioned work ethic, and he offers a unique ability to deliver his message in a way that resonates with lifelong farmers as well as those with no knowledge of agriculture.
With growing consumer awareness about where their food comes from, Zach has identified the need for an independent voice from the front lines of agriculture. Zach actively promotes agriculture by sharing his day-to-day experiences in the agriculture world while providing farmer-to-farmer education to help facilitate a collaborative conversation between farmers and the public.

Hi zach. I'm in high school and I think I made my decision of what to follow. I've been watching your videos since middle of 2017. Thx to you, you inspired me to pursue something I had little interest in. You taught me a lot about this stuff when I had very little experience before😀. Keep it up Zach love the videos.

I was raised on a farm in the midwest in the 1950s. I have been watching these videos to find out how farming is done now. To say I'm amazed is an understatement. The sophistication of the mega-machines now is mind-blowing, especially the computer technology so you can know what is going on in the bowels of those machines. Of course, it is necessary to have all of the technology now in order to feed the billions more people there are now on the earth. This includes developing higher-yield grains and produce. Amazing.

When your calibrating with the active yield activated. You can't do it with full tank. Or at least I couldn't last year. But maybe there have been a update. The scales can't weight the corn that is hanging on the sides of the tanks. But if you stay in the calibrating menu. It will tell you when to unload and weight that. It will be way more precise. Just a little help from Denmark.

All too often we would get a heavy snow before the ground would freeze. We would have to wait for that snow to melt to get at the corn and we picked corn on top of ICE! If we ever broke through, we would bury the combine because it was goopy mud underneath.

And if you let it sit to spring your Deer loses are going to be expediently higher too. Especially in your area the White Tails are going to eat anything they can during winter, and Corn left standing would be very high on their list.

Watched a video on the new john deer x9 combine, i just overwhemed by the advancement of farm equipment since i left farm in 1969...we had a self propelled international combine, one of the few farmers that had one...my dad sat out in the open, and i felt sorry for him combining that itchy oats.

I would think dealing with snow/ice melt in spring would make the mud worse than the Fall, so I would choose Fall too.

For those new to DEF, and that looks like all farmers, DEF is a mixture of 1/3 urea and 2/3 deionized water. .
It was first widely used in the US in 2010, when new emissions systems for Heavy Duty trucks entered production.
I had been used in Europe prior to that to met Euro 4 emission standards.
A good explanation can be found at: www.cumminsfiltration.com/sites/default/files/MB10033.pdf

Don't waste to big a piece of metal on that tube repair there Randy!!! Who's on cleanup for that , really sucks !!31% mooooooisture really let's you haul and handle a lot of water with your corn but I'd agree it's time to get it if the ground let's you ! Sucks having to make those ruts but with those tracks on everything it'll minimize it as much as possible ! Be interesting to see how that combine handles this wet corn !! Thanks for the video !

I live in central Iowa where your Thunder Creek trailer was made. As a quadriplegic, I only farm virtually. However, my dad's family owns a grain elevator and farms. Corn at 31% moisture sounds crazy, but it's the wet year we've had in the midwest.

In order to wait for a freeze up - you may need sub-freezing weather for a week or two to get it firm enough to harvest without issues with ruts.
