    Penelope Cruz used to have a nose so long that when she smiled, the tip of her nose covered her two front teeth. Something that kind of bothers me is seeing products being marketed on people who have clearly had work done. For example, even if someone is open about having lip injections, I have no concept of how said lip product looks on natural lips. And when people can’t get their lips to look like the person demonstrating the product, it perpetuates the desire to keep getting work done to attain a fleeting societal beauty standard.
    Also, there are studies showing that, even when advertisements self-disclose that they’ve been enhanced, body image is still impacted

Forgetting that the REAL beauty comes from inside. That we might not LOOK perfect to the eyes of beauty standards but we are our true self and we own it! And for the ones who, just like you and I have rejected themselves at one point, just remember: YOU ARE UNIQUE and there is NO ONE like you. With your flaws and strengths, but unique and beautiful. I don't understand why someone would lie about not having procedures done, when it is clearly obvious they have. Plus there is evidence and a timeline that proves they have indeed had plastic surgery. 🤦‍♀️
    It messes with young minds and makes them have unhealthy complexes from.a VERY young age. It should be THE LAW to disclose that you had plastic surgery for beauty reasons. Just like disclosing a photograph has been photoshopped for an advertisement or campaign. Would make people understand our world of "beauty" standards far better.

    This was an observation but back in 2008-2010 I would get a ton of compliments and be sought out after. Soon after I felt like I couldn’t compete with all the fillers, boob jobs and nose jobs. Nose jobs especially can transform the face and put you in a different category of beautiful. I compared myself to a person that had one and I didn’t know about it. Until I found out, I said I could buy that and look like that too. I found myself actually appreciating my natural beauty and that people pay to stand out nowadays. I at least at a moment in time never had to.

    Thanks for the video, Cassandra! What I took away is that celebrities may be...hmm...shading the truth by using semantics to say they haven't had cosmetic surgeries or various cosmetic procedures. Or they may be outright lying. Some of this is in the mind of the person in that, as you pointed out, if they didn't go under general anesthesia, they may not consider it surgery.
    Although I honestly don't know why they bother, unless of course, as you said, they're trying to sell something. Another thing we should keep in mind is that consistent use of sunscreen, avoiding the sun as much as possible, and wearing hats and protective clothing in the sun makes a big difference to the condition of the skin. Also just plain heredity. My mother looked younger than her age to the point that people thought she was my older sister!

I do think it is sad and wrong that to lie or sneakily dance around the subject when it is done to sell something that promises an outcome it can`t deliver. I think influencers are even more dangerous when they lie. Many people look up to them and buy all the creams and devices they recommend while the real reason behind their wrinkless faces lies in surgeries, Botox, etc. 😢

  • @libbycampbell879
    @libbycampbell879 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Saying "I've never had Botox" is like saying "I've never had Advil" but still downing NSAIDs. There are other "fillers" and "whatnots" you can get your face injected with. Those string things exist.

    Its so tricky. I don’t believe anyone should have to disclose their medical stuff or cosmetic procedures but on the flip side theres something morally wrong lying to people and saying “its this thing!” When in fact its not that thing but multi thousand dollar surgeries and injections. I suppose when it comes down to it: are they trying to sell us something? If yes morally they should be honest 100%. If they’re not selling us something or trying to influence us in a significant way. Though celebs like that seem more honest about the work theyve have done vs say Kylie lying about her lips and insulting our collective intelligence in the process.

      Yes, ethically, if people are lying to sell us something, that's not good. Legally, I don't know because I'm not a lawyer.
      However, in the US anyway, I think companies can get away with a lot in cosmetics advertising as long as they don't make health claims. If you read ads carefully, they say things like 'improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles", not "eliminates fine lines and wrinkles." Again, semantics.

    7/10 of the male actors/celebs we've seen in the last 12 years have had at least one forehead lift.

  • @laurieann2714
    @laurieann2714 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Like an idiot, I tried these thread lifts. I didn't have an uneven appearance but it also didn't last long and pulling the skin vs addressing the muscle laxity, doesn't really do it in the long run. Makes the skin stretch even more.

    “I don’t use Vaseline.” (But uses CeraVe healing ointment)
    I’m trying to think of other brand names that have become eponymous. Hoover is another one. So is Jeep. Apparently Botox is too, so I learned something new today!
    Edit: OOOH!!! Band-aid!!! Also ChapStik! Some people also use Kleenex to refer to any facial tissue. Comment if you think of any more eponymous brand names!

    The biggest lie is they really had surgery, though deny it. All the mentioned techniques give smaller results compared to surgery.
