Thanks, bought thermostat from Ransoms, fitting was a bit harder on my Lamona oven. Had to unbolt the top of each side panel (which then angled out), as the thermostat tube went underneath the top panel from left to right, then in the rear top right of the oven. I used some string tied to the thermostat probe when removing it, so I could then use the string to pull the new thermostat into the same route under the top cover. Another tip is to pull out the oven onto a box of a suitable height, to avoid having to lower the oven to the floor and lifting it back up when done.

Thank you! A lot easier than first thought. Purchased the part from ransom spares and oven is now working like a dream.

great explanation and clear guidance. Think it is our tube that is broken - sounds like the reason it over-heats....

Excellent video! I'm looking at replacing the thermostat on a Defy 735MF which keeps on tripping the thermal cut-out when the oven is on (not grilling, which requires the door to be partially open).

Thanks for the excellent demonstration with salient features from your experience. SMEG is similar waiting for the spares. Open the top and side of the SMEG. I have found the tubes were twisted in the middle of the coil. It seems that the manufacturer installed a faulty thermostat we ignored the signal and missed the warranty replacement. I would advice other to test the temperature of a new oven by putting steel bowl with water and run to test the temperature of the oven. Your thoughts please.

Great video, unfortunately my Zanussi cooker which is over 20 years old has a totally different thermostat which can no longer be purchased. I have researched this and managed to change the thermostat which needed some rewiring (instructions with new thermostat) , all working now.

So there's no messing with the gas when exchanging the termostate? Just a stright forward electrical connection?

Thanks for video, before taking my oven thermostat out to check is there away to check before taking out, reason is when I used to turn on my oven a red light used to come on and then go off when oven reached temperature, but now it dont come on at all so would that suggest the thermostat is broken?
    Thanks Matt

hiya, dont suppose you have a vid for a smeg victoria range, one oven heat comes on without even turning the thermo on, so i assume its broken, though the hob is on top of the oven, so wouldn't know where to start....

I’ve changed the thermostat because of the oven wasn’t heating to the temperature I set to and now the unit won’t turn on at all. Any info why could this be happening?

So what if we replace the thermostat but it still overheats? Set oven tobake. Set temp. You can her the thermostat (old and new) click when it gets to temp, but the light stays on and oven keeps heating. What next?
