    There are few, very few countries that understand the role of a navy in power projection. Three of them are represented here.
    Looks fantastic to see these together at the same time. Soon, the Ise will also carry F-35's. Also cool to see that USMC F-35 with "HMS Queen Elizabeth" on the vertical stabilizer!

    • @vtbmwbiker
      @vtbmwbiker 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @H L Actually, the follow on class will be F-35 capable. The way around it? Wordsmithing of course. That's what made the Kuznetsov an aircraft cruiser (or something like that) and the Invincible class a "through deck cruiser". The Japanese are simply reinforcing the deck and making it F-35 capable "in case" there's no runway and a plane needs one.

    • @vtbmwbiker
      @vtbmwbiker 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @H L Yep, my mistake, The Ise won't be converted-- however, the follow on class will be converted. No ski jump, according to Janes, but all the other upgrades to support F-35 operations like a US America class amphib.

    • @heuhen
      @heuhen 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      it's politics, politicians in Japan will not give them money, if they say that they are building an battleship or an aircraft carrier, it's an to offensive name or capability. But a Destroyer, that they are willing to accept since it can be used as a defensive measure. Hus IJN ISE is an Helicopter destroyer... It's in the name of the Japanese self defense force. a military to only defend with, never to attack. thus they are not allowed to build something that sound like an offensive capability (in name only)
      But it have changed now, since Japan have changed it's military from a Self defense force (in name), that can only defend Japanese territorium, to now is know as Japanese military, and thus are allowed to do more than just defend.

      You'll probably find that is a tradition hundreds of years old, most things are when it comes to 'military courtesy' as such.

    Meanwhile in other news as the Royal Navy sails around the South China Sea with American protection because the ruler of the waves no longer rules 🙄 and hasn’t done so for several decades!
    Little boats and rubber dinghys cross the channel virtually unopposed 👏 on a daily basis (invasion by other means)
    No wonder my 8th Army Veteran Grandfather said he didn’t know why he bothered spending 6years away preventing the country from being invaded!
    I second that thought!
    This is not a comment about those that serve
    This is a comment about those that rule and the daft people that believe the blurb!
