i bought the gen6 because of the replaceable wifi card, but i was also impressed with the gen7's 400nits brightness screen and speakers. hard to choose
man, very nice. loving my carbon 6th gen. used throttlestop to undervolt and i've got lucky with the display, because it's the low power one which gets as bright as the sun. browsing the net with whatsapp, signal, opera, instagram and outlook opened draws about 5 watts for the whole system. this thing is a beast!
I have 1gb broadcasting in my place so i went from around 150 up and down to around 650 up and down! It has been fantastic! and the wall paper i got on the alphacoder website.
I initially thought of buying a X1 Carbon 7th gen, but I found out that the wifi is not replaceable, so i might look into the gen 6 next and see the comparison since it's still has intel 8th gen CPU
Still a solid computer! I wish they hadn't gone with the soldered in chips with the later models. I am also confused about why 6, 7, and 8th gen Carbons all used the same lineup of CPUs.
I have gen7 and just open to confirm that its wifi is soldered. I want to replace it or upgrade it to ax200 or 210 because the current one is not working properly. But cannot do, sad
Yes, it does require some different drivers that you can either pre-download or what I most often do is plug in a simple USB Wi-Fi adapter to connect to internet to pull the proper driver after installation

I dropped and shattered my Gen6 about 6 months after this replacement. Got a gen 7. The screen is much nicer but I miss that Wifi card.

That's amazing! It's such a great little system. Powerful but compact and efficient.
How long does your battery last when it's undervolted?
@@tesrteck bought and new battery just recently, i'm getting 7-8 hours display on time and i never hear a fan spinning. loving it.
Great video, thanks for sharing! Any performance results?
Also, where did you get that background / wallpaper? Thanks!

Are any driver updates necessary to make these components run properly after install?
Yes, it does require some different drivers that you can either pre-download or what I most often do is plug in a simple USB Wi-Fi adapter to connect to internet to pull the proper driver after installation
My lenovo will not boot after replcing wifi . I get Bios warning only.
You will need to check the bios compatibility options for your model
I broke my antennas in this way, what should I do?
They can be resoldered or replaced, but you should have a trained tech do that
Which card did you buy?
i went with a AX210NGW m.2 card from intel
What drivers did you download?
I used windows update with a USB Wi-Fi adapter to get the driver's for the new card
