  • In this video, we share with you our experience installing the wifi 6E upgrade, the internal NGFF wireless adapter for any laptop computer with this port available. Remember your laptop may have Mini PCIe card or, NGFF, they are two different technologies. In this video we cover the NGFF model.
    If you wish to take a look at our video dedicated to upgrading PCIe mini internal card follow this link: • Upgraded my old laptop... which by the way turned out to be a very fortunate mistake.

    Excellent article and I very much appreciate the possible troubleshooting answers, such as a physical network line was the problem on a wireless project. I probably would've pulled my hair out of head in frustration before I figured out that one.

      It most probably will and you'll get overall greater file transfer and browsing performance. Just make sure it is M.2 and not PCIe mini (a bit older but also available). We've used both and both work great. Links to the newest hardware versions are in the description of both videos.

    Hey there!
    Great video!
    I'm wondering if I can do that to my Lenovo Yoga 720-15ikb too.
    On the website, it says that my model is compatible with Wireless,CMB,LTN,NFA344A M2 and Wireless,CMB,IN,8265 NV M2, but I'm not sure what that means.
    Could you please indicate a good compatible wireless card (Bluetooth 5.1 and Wifi 6E) that works on my model?

    • @TechnologyMoments
      @TechnologyMoments  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, and it is very probable it is an NGFF card, however you just will spend 15 minutes, taking it apart (usually just the lower cover) and make sure it has an NGFF port connection compatible to the one you order. There are just two options PCIe mini (which for your computer model I don't think it has that one, and explained in our other video) and NGFF such as the one in this video. Very easy to tell apart.

    Hello, I got a Dell Latitude E5530 and the original Wifi card is an Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 630, Model: 633ANHMW.
    It looks like a mini PCIe card and has 3 wire connectors on it. The replacement WiFi 6 ones on Amazon show they have 2 wired connections. Does that make a difference? Also my laptop has 1 open PCIe slot with 2 wires available and is not being used. Should I just leave the original card in it and install the new one into the optional slot or should I just remove the old card and install the new one in it's place. Also, what exactly is that 3rd wire for on the original card?

    • @TechnologyMoments
      @TechnologyMoments  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello, that is correct and it is a matter of design. Some manufacturers handle more antennas when transmitting with different radios. That model you mentioned featured a 3x3 MIMO which was commmon to have two antennas connected. In our most recent experiences whe have ended up using just one, also known as "main". Disconnected the other one and no changes were experienced in range or speed. That, at least for the two models we tested. the other card which is the one you may need: th-cam.com/video/eaj91tA_w_w/w-d-xo.html The PCIe mini card is this one: amzn.to/3hjTq5C As for the secondslot is very probable you can just install it there and have an additional wifi card. There were few models that included that option as they featured WiMAX also. Possibly another reason for the third antenna.

      Not that I know of, but seeing your MB specs, assuming it is rev 1.0, and as it has an integrated wifi adapter, you actually have two options which are 1. Install a PCIe adapter as this one: amzn.to/3ZBgktU, or 2. Go for an adapter that will let you install any m.2 wifi card such as this one: amzn.to/3w1vqLO

    Hi, thank you so much for the video. I would like to ask. Does any wifi card version will work with any laptop? for example I have msi gf63 with wifi 5 ngff card (9560ac), can I change it to a wifi 7 or wifi 6e card? Thanks in advance :)

    • @TechnologyMoments
      @TechnologyMoments  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very soon we'll release a video for wifi7 update which poses a bigger challenge for upgrading as usually are E keyed cards. Your msi gf63 is relatively recent, and should accept key A and E cards which means it would support newer cards as the intel chipset BE200 WiFi 7 (amzn.to/3VHzgYs ) which we have tested in even core i3 7th gen laptops. Older laptops may not support it. Of course it depends in the MB and the slot being E keyed. (www.delock.de/infothek/M.2/M.2_e.html ) I would suggest, first take a look at your current WiFi card and if it is E keyed the WiFi7 card will work on it. Good luck with your project.

      My current card is key E CNVio, but not sure if it supports regular pcie (if it's not support pcie I assume I'm stuck with the current card).
      The seller said BE200 won't work because my 9th gen intel not support CNVio2 (?)
      Seller doesn't allow return so I'm afraid it will be a waste if it's not working 😄

If the laptop is older (oddly enough) PCIe mini cards work with most of them ( th-cam.com/video/eaj91tA_w_w/w-d-xo.html ) Por example some brands like HP with their Pavillion first generations are quite troublesome
