  • I can't believe after 100 oil filters have been cut open we have found the best oil filter.
    see these videos for more info.
    quality has become so bad with many oil filter manufacturers. The worst oil filters are also cut open. Acdelco oil filter comparison.
    After I cut open these oil filters I was STUNNED! Proof wix xp oil filters & Mobil1 isn't the only oil filter you need to see cut open but also the fram tough guard oil filter even K&N oil filter in comparison to supertech oil filter. We even review Fram ultra synthetic vs wix xp. Best oil filter mannol? or bosch oil filter even Microgard oil filter.
    Nates interactive auto we show the engine oil filters that are supposed to be known for high quality. Unfortunately that is easier said as we show why opening The Mobil1 extended performance motor oil filter. Next Fram ultra synthetic oil filter. Even more unbelievable The wix xp extended performance. with today's extended drain intervals oil filtration is more important than ever. Do not use fram filters? you decide for yourself. oil filter review with royal purple, amsoil and many other brands you must know about like super tech oil filter. best oil filter or oil filter comparison you decide like purolator oil filter and synthetic oil filter. good oil filters such as k&n oil filter also tested napa oil filter plus stp oil filter review.
    All videos shown on this channel Nates interactive auto are for entertainment, educational and shouldn't be repeated at home without consulting a expert or you should make your own personal choice if you would like to use a product, tool or anything shown in these videos. If you need to go aftermarket, Purolator has the highest micron count, but K&N works, STP is good, and upper-end Frams are decent. I appreciate all your work checking out oil filters by cutting them open and explaining the pro and con of nitrile rubber versus silicone and cellulose media versus synthetic media. However, it really comes down to effective filtration (ISO 4548-12 - Filtration Efficiency Using Particle Counting, and Contaminant Retention Capacity) and flow especially if you are going 7,5000 / 10,000 / 15,000-mile oil change interval. Most but not all oil filter manufacturers include a micron rating concerning filter performance / efficiency

    Purolator and Wix filters are good aftermarket filters for standard oil change intervals. OEM brands make good filters too such as Honda and Nissan. Honestly I’m not too interested in what the filters look like before they are used. What I always use as a gauge is running whatever mileage interval I plan to use, and then inspecting the filter after the fact as well as sending the oil samples off to Blackstone and getting a report back on the particulate that is in the actual oil sample.

    It seems that some filters are better at this and others are better at that. Is it possible that one filter is best at everything? That doesn’t appear to be the case. One thing I have noticed is that your filter selection is kind of like Armour Hot Dogs (Fat ones, skinny ones, even filters with chicken pox). I think it would be a good idea to compare all of the filters for the same application. I have seen instances (not necessarily oil filters) where a manufacturer might spec out different quality components for similar parts with different applications. In other words, a Wix (random selection) Ford Triton V8 filter could be built differently than a Toyota V8 filter or even a Ford 4 cylinder filter. I am not saying that this is the case, but it is certainly a possibility. As far as a tiny bit of light rust in a filter from storage, I’m pretty sure that once in use, the filter media will filter that out. The real question should be is it a real problem or a perceived problem? Good work!

Also I've had good luck with Akebono pads. Spill and fill the CVT, and coolant every 60k. Bled a full quart of dot3 through the brakes at 150k. Denso plugs at 120k. That's the beauty of a little four popper. DIY is easy. No fricken turbos, no hybrid crap, no removing half the top to change plugs, no removing a fricken manifold to change a starter, beautiful spin on type oil filter, none of those ridiculous cartridge types. 35 mpg highway. 29 mpg combined.

    I've been watching a lot of the oil filter videos. Damn the FRAM does look to be built like crap but maybe it's good enough? All I have ever used is the cheap FRAM since I was a teenager (almost 40 now) I never had any engine problems. My Hondas and mitsu lasted well past 200k miles and were still going strong. Met their demise with other issues. I think if you do frequent oil changes, their fine. I think people look into this stuff to deep as if they had some kind of over engineered masterpiece under their hood.

      All 4 replies here miss a KEY critical factor. Micron Filtration AND if you use 15-25k Guaranteed Oil Brands, Changing the filter 2 or 3 times in the life of that brands oil AND doing an Oil analysis you can track exactly what the health of your extra buck payout is doing or not doing. Either way, even if you only run 10k oil changes, changing the oil filter halfway thru topping off and then sample it (visually) after a good 30 min drive you can SEE with your own eyes how the new filter traps micron damaging components in your oil.
      Then again you can always go cheap. Sure why not spend 30-50k for a new vehicle and then treat it like sheet with oil changes. That works to, right up until it don't.

    Long shot but hoping to get input from someone, wix xp 57620xp, k&n hp-4003 are recommended for a 6.7L cummins deisel. Neither these or many other filters for diesel have an anti drain back valve while some cheaper brand filters do. Why is this.

    • @ghp0518
      @ghp0518 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well one of the things that matter is the flow rate through the filter, a good filter has a good particle filtration as well as flow rate.
      When the flow rate is below what the vehicle is suppose to have, all things in the engine that depend on oil pressure might not work good enough - chain tensioner for example - you may hear the timing chain rattles because the oil pressure is not enough.

    Why dosen't anybody mention the pressure relief valve. That's probably the biggest issue here. Lots of manufacturers don't meet oem specs on the PRV. Some are made with lower spring pressure and the valve stays open often when the filter is not even clogged. Ppl read the PRV opening pressure.

  • @vicinvesta8349

    This is not a proper comparison! This is subjective quality analysis here.
    Proper analysis involves using the same oil. Run vehicle under the same condition, the same amount of time and mileage and then analyzing the engine oil for contaminants.
    The best "look&and feel" or "it looks really quality" may turn to be the worst at actually doing its job.

    Here's an idea, why not just buy the OEM filter for your vehicle? Most are readily available and very cost effective. I use Motorcraft for all my Fords, can still find FL820S and FL400S for about 5 bucks each Wal Mart. Only thing cheaper is the Wal mart brand.......AC Delco too very good price, and all other OEM,s are not that much money, actually many are way below in cost to Napa and Wix.......I'd stick with OEM if you can, why not? Also, no one comparing oil filters seems to talk about the amount of threads or the quality of the cut, this is VERY important, and as for the Motorcrafts, they have oval holes, not round, for way better flow, I have not found ANY AM filter that is like a Motorcraft........just saying, nice review, but OEM is better for me......

  • @PanamaSticks
    @PanamaSticks 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I've watched a couple of your reviews and decided they weren't worth my time... "You've got to see this!" "I was STUNNED." "You need to cut open..." WHY? I don't know what's going through your head. Do you believe metal check valves or spring check valves perform better than a plastic valve? Do you have any proof of that? Am I supposed to believe more holes make for better performance? Does it make any difference if the paper creases are uniformly spaced? Is it the length of the filter element, or the total surface area? All I hear is "Look at this!".
    You play up steel but you don't make the connection that a uncoated steel component will surface rust sitting on the shelf in a store! Depends on how many years it sat there, and the moisture in the store. So the rubber gasket is easier to remove on some models... NOT a big issue. Anyone installing the filters should know if a gasket is missing, or the old one is still stuck to the engine... Who caused the scratches that you displayed on one of your videos? Was it the manufacturer, or a customer who returned the filter? And how is a scratch on the inside of a filter flooded with oil going to rust? And what about the contamination? You show a "puddle of oil" in one filter. Do you think it was assembled that way in the factory? I doubt they had any oil within 100 feet of the assembly line. Why would they? More likely than that, a customer bought the filter, screwed it on his oily engine, decided he didn't like it, returned it to the store, and they put it back on the shelf for you to buy... And the discoloration of the end of the filter element? Again... How do you know this wasn't a customer return? Disintegrated cardboard? Could it be that a customer bought the filter, used it, and then cleaned it with gasoline or solvent so he could return it?
    Finally, you're picking up components left and right, while talking about a different brand whose components are still sitting on the table. Why don't you show us the components one brand at a time?
