- Hearse races a Ford Ranger and you can determine the outcome. It is a 1976 Cadillac S&S Centennial Victoria by Hess & Eisenhardt. It has a TH400 3spd Auto-OD RWD tranny, 500cid (8.2L) V8, and weighs 6400lbs ***22ft Long, the rear compartment is 9.5ft/4ft, and the hood is 5.5ft long!***. The Ranger is an 2001Ford Ranger XLT SuperCab 4.0 Flareside w/Off-Road 4WD with a 5spd RWD/4WD Auto-OD tranny, 245cid (4.0L) V6, that weighs 3,851lbs, ***16.9ft Long***.
The Cadillac hearse in '76 comes standard with a 500 ci. engine...
I raced a friend's 1996 Chevy 1500 p/u with the 5.7 v8 in my '73 Cadillac hearse equipped with the 472. He nailed me out the hole, but after that the 472 got the torque curve going on..I left him like he was backing up. His rev limiter cuts off at 100 and that's when the 472 walked away. The '73' and up Caddy big block are smogged but the torque is massive. The nearly 7000 pound weight of a hearse does slow it down a bit
There are two numbers that best explain this video: 6400 and 3851 (pounds).
@adriansrealm low gear ilke a 4:10 is better for acceleration vs a higher gear like a 3:55. tire size matters too

Rangers are not geared like cars. They are geared low for hauling. Good thing it was a straight line, if it had to turn it would have been in more trouble.
