  • Andrew Grantz, Pitt State University Assistant Coach, has taken elements of two very popular offenses, the Read and React and the Dribble Drive Motion, and made them into his own system - The Attack and React Offense. This offense will allow you to teach players how to play basketball and not just how to run set plays. You can put this offense in at the junior high, high school, or college level. Use this offense with a group of developing players over the course of several years or with a group of advanced players to create a fun, unstoppable offense!

What does a player with the ball in the corner or the drive line do after he/she makes a pass back up to the point? Does he cut and replace himself?

essentially. In R&R you do basket cut and fill out so the principle is unchanged; however, it looks like a replacing cut because the open spot is where he just left.

At @2:50 when the guy drives to the basket and the guy in the corner slides up, he's going to drag his man into doubling on the driver. He should slide down into the corner, and the two guys on the left side of the court should rotate over. That part really makes no sense to me as far as purpose goes.

It won't get doubled. It would actually be good if it did because it's one pass away and it'll leave him open for a 3.

+Will Loves Pie depends on whether your offensive objective is to attack the basket or get open threes. A player shouldn't be sliding up until his defender helps, not slide him into help regardless

That's a Dribble Drive motion action which is contrary to the R&R motion offense. In Dribble Drive the player coming behind is going to get a pitch from the driver when/if his man helps and he is actually moving away from his defender who helped. If the filling player's defender stays with him, the driving lane is open just the same. These are two opposite means to get the same result but each one is fundamental to the operation of its respective offense.

Agreed. Doesn't make sense for corner guy to just commit to sliding all the way up to the top spot on a straight line drive, that only makes sense on a read where the driver picks up his dribble now the corner guy should make that read on whether he's going back door or lifting depending on how his defender is guarding. But just committing to a lift regardless of what is going on with the ball makes no sense to me. If he's lifting to get to that corner attack spot away from his defender who is playing low to get an open shop then cool, but as that driver continues to attack down the lane, would make much more sense for the corner guy to slide back down to that corner and opposite top guard get 1 behind.
