Thanks for the very informative video. Big difference between summer and winter months. Lots of bridleways are the edges of farmers fields so become mudbaths in winter, then it would be nice to be able to select only paved or gravel surfaces.

I'd be interested to learn how the Komoot algorithms work, I notice the same in my local area. I suppose if I lived somewhere more gnarly than Yorkshire then the results might be different, once or twice I've gone with the MTB option and I know some of the suggested descents wouldn't be suitable for my gravel bike. I think if I lived in a lumpy area of Scotland or Wales then it would be more of an issue and gravel would be the way to go.

I got the same problem, don't know if it depends on the area I live in, Finland. When I set komoot planning to "gravel" it sends me mainly on tarmac cycle paths, when I set it to MTB it sends me on gravel or, when available, single tracks (of course not ideal for my gravel bike)

Thanks for a clear and informative video, if you are using Komoot on your phone, how does that effect battery life?

You're welcome. I don't use Komoot on my phone, I download the routes to my Garmin unit. If you were using your phone, I'd imagine it would drain the battery quite a bit.

Same experience here. Strava does better when you select dirt roads, but can send you on private ways where as Komoot knew these are not allowed.
Strava is also also a monthly subscription and not really worth it in my opinion.

Komoot Gravel is a waste of time from my experience. You are much better picking either touring or mountain biking then tweak it accordingly. It's a shame because Komoot has the data to create great gravel routes it seems confused about what gravel riding is planting you on the road for most of it.
