The million dollar question from anyone starting in NEMT is “What is my overhead going to be like?” Truthfully, that is a loaded question, because the answer is that it will look differently for everyone.

What I can tell you is that the most costly expense that you will have starting off will be your commercial insurance. A lot of companies have gotten more restraints on the policies for newer NEMT companies, and this raises the premium. On top of the type of vehicle you are starting with, your driving record, and the number of drivers that will be on the policy. All of these play a factor into how much your quote may be.

There is no easy way to tell you this, but the insurance is expensive. Be prepared with a financial cushion to pay your insurance at least for 2 months without seeing much of a return on your investment.
