Is anybody going to mention the fact that ireland does not exchange American drivers licenses for an Irish license? You must pass a written exam, take 12 one hour long driver education lessons with a professional instructor, and then schedule and pass a final driving test. You are not permitted to drive during this time without having a licensed driver in the passenger seat. I had been driving for FIFTY years in the states. Never had an accident, and had received a single parking ticket in all that time. Getting my license here took a solid two years,,and cost a couple thousand dollars in fees and “lessons” And yeah…they fail you at every turn, because you must pay twice to retake the tests. Watch out for those written test questions about carrying a passenger when driving your tractor, and the number of kilos you are permitted before having to add lights onto your livestock trailer…..! Owning a car is a necessity - and they screw you for money every chance they can get.
@@enjoystraveling Train? Bus? I drove close to a thousand miles around Ireland last year. Didn't see one train and the only buses I saw were tourist buses on the Kerry Ring. Also, car rental/insurance is over double the rest of Europe due to the poor roads.
Not if you're African, Indian or from the Middle-East and with no ID, credentials or skills! Europeans on the other hand need not apply because although the Irish prefer to be amongst their own and have much in common with their European friends, not least, their Christian roots, the Irish government is hellbent on destroying Ireland and by all accounts, they are succeeding!!
Proof of $100k+ investment income a year and enough money to purchase a home is required. That's at least $2.5 million in assets. 90% of Irish people have less than $1 million in assets. Ireland is looking for only the rich Americans to come. 14,000 Americans live in Ireland. 35,000,000 Irish decedents live in the US.
The health-care is presented as a pro😅😅😅 Pay through your tax, pay again for private health insurance because the public system is non-existent, and then pay again because your private policy doesn't cover shit.
Actually the private policies in Ireland are very good, cover almost everything. And they are the same price to everyone regardless of your health or age
@@sean_d They cover 50% of consultancy fees at a price of over 4K per year for a family of 3. That's after you've paid your taxes. Pre-existing conditions have a waiting period of 5 YEARS. That's hardly the same price for all.
Driving in Ireland isn't easy if you're from the U.S. simply because (1) they drive on the left; and (2) cars invariably have manual transmissions. Add to that the number of 'drink drivers' and you may well decide not to drive but to take public transport.
Are you in receipt of any Irish tax payers welfare to fund your project? because right now clearly you contribute zero to Ireland but on the take of Irish tax payers grants. Non nationals who think the Grants intended to alleviate a record number of homeless Irish people was FREE MONEY meant for them. Irish tax payers subsidizing non non nationals dreams. In light of record homeless in Ireland it is a perverse scam that any non nationals are subsidized in any way.

Shirley Dowd, Ireland has virtually full employment, it has excellent hospitals and free health care for children and people over 70 years old and if you are living at a certain income level then you are entitled to free health care. House's are expensive if you want to live in or around Dublin, but the rest of the country is reasonable. Migration is a problem in every country of the developed world and Ireland is no exception. I am if the impression that you are not Irish, because Irish people do not use the term " Eire" to describe our beautiful country.
@@shirleydowd7102 The Health Service Executive in Ireland is very well funded Government Department. It's unacceptable that you use your "shit creek" analogy, to explain, exactly what ? You sound soooo negative. So you won't be moving there to live any time soon? Good. Because I am. Parts of any city in the world have areas one would not feel safe to be day or night. Dublin is not unique in this respect. Hope you are happy where you live. Each to there own😊
Sorry Chris, the name of the country is Ireland, as confirmed by all including the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Why not pop along to the UK Government's own website www.gov.uk/eu-eea where you will see that the UK Government advises that the name of the country is Ireland. Ireland is an increasingly secular country which has for instance divorce, gay marriage and abortion, all completely contrary to the teachings of the Roman Catholic church, so claims that Ireland is Catholic are somewhat wide of the mark. And whilst I agree it is expensive to live here, but hey, why let the truth otherwise get in the way of a somewhat ill informed rant!
I wanted to say that the people of Ireland are one of its greatest assets
Any other Americans watching this looking to escape?
Exactly.
Yes. But sounds too expensive; and wet/cold. Only there once for a few hours.
Summer in Ireland is the best day of the year!
🤣 Took me a minute...
I live in Western Oregon in an area known for its rainy weather. I think I’d do fine in Ireland. I’m working on my dual citizenship now!
Beautiful and well worth a visit. Don't live there unless you love damp and rainy weather.
That is all in the package but that is why Ireland is so green...
If Ireland had decent weather its population would be 100 million.🤗Beautiful country and beautiful people.👍👍👍
If the population was 100 million then it wouldn't be beautiful.
Long cold damp winters, maybe because I'm from there, but I'd pick Iberia.
And cold damp summers too😂
Long, depressing winter.

Owning a car is not a necessity, many people use the bus and the train, depending where they live.

The only 2 reasons you need to know not to retire in Ireland are the fucxxng weather, other main reason us it's so fucxxing expensive

They're giving away citizenship to every Ali, Muhammad, Ahmed.

True! At this rate, Ireland will be the first caliphate in Europe and there are more mosques springing up now than shamrocks!!
