this video talks about Rockstar Game's forgotten and canceled single player DLC for Grand Theft Auto 5. GTA 5 was supposed to receive an Agent Episode involving Trevor and the IAA. They later re-worked this episode into GTA Online content. Thankfully Fun and Wild were able to find some leftovers and give us a glimpse of what this update would of looked like and which parts of it were re-used for GTA Online content.

I guess there's been a mistake about the interpretation of the mount chiliad wall:
Michael's update was meant to be a zombie update where he gotta save his family and Franklin's update is the Alien update where the Mount chilliad was supposed to crack in 2 parts and aliens should've came out from it and invaded the whole state of San Andreas.
I keep hearing different people switch the two around, although that sounds a lot more likely. Damn.

Imagine a GTA universe where they cared about the story mode more than their online
That's like 1 in never
In this universe, Rockstar is independent from Take2 and can craft their vision as they please and as they listen to their fanbase. Rockstar games isn't understaffed and has a large amount of employees which don't suffer any crunch culture yet they manage to put out content actively. Games are released at least every 3 years, each with insane detail and each getting better and better. All their IPs get proper recognition. RDO and GTAO are their independent entities and are big in their own right, with map expansions and updates being done to them as both franchises progress with time. RDR2 and GTA 5 recieved their own story updates before Rockstar continued work on the sequels.
It's the perfect universe.
Oh and GTA 6 came out instead of definitive edition and it was their best work yet.

GTA Online pretty much killed Rockstar. They're creatively and morally bankrupt at this point. They couldn't even be bothered to remaster the trilogy in house and proceeded to deceptively market it and feign disbelief at the attrocious quality. I don't even want a GTA6 at this point.

The latest, biggest GTA release would have still been plenty popular; Only in THAT universe they wouldn't have been able to coast by on the same release for almost 10 years due to sharkcards. They might have actually needed to make the DLC and then a new GTA! How scary for Rockstar!

In the single player mission where you steal a car, the license plate said agent because it was a James Bond themed car in a James bond themed set
It was probably also a reference to the canceled Agent game which they still worked on back then
it was a reference to both james bond and the cancelled agent game, and maybe a foreshadow to the dlc which i doubt, but mainly the cancelled agent game
Steven Ogg actually mentioned how he went back and started to shoot scenes for a little bit which was most likely this DLC, he said it just went away and they stopped making it. It’s kinda sad knowing how bits of the DLC were properly made with cutscenes, I would still be up for single player dlc today for GTA V.

It doesn't even make sense from a Rockstar/Take Two being greedy perspective, surely catering to both online and story mode players would be even more profitable. I would never, ever buy a shark card for a number of reasons but if they were offering a DLC like the ones described my response would have been "shut up and take my money". I'd love to see a poll of how many other players feel this way.
@@johnallen3033 thats exactly what i say! When GTA Online started cars were reasonably priced too like the freakin Zentorno was 750k. Now they'd give you a blista with a 1.5m price tag. Let alone the yacht that would cost about 120$ real life dollars in shark cards. I enjoyed GTA Online up until 2016 and still i never would've paid for a shark card. But a story DLC I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Like if they'd released it they'll get a quick profit because i imagine many people want it

my theory is those dlc weren't meant to be canon, instead they represented each of the protagonists worst nightmare, like rdr undead nightmare dlc: michael, due to his love to classic films, was afraid of the zombie apocalypse, which could be a threat to his family; franklin, for some unknown reason, was scared of alien invasion; and trevor's worst nightmare was working for the government
Franklins dlc was the zombie dlc, Michaels was the Alien DLC, Michael when under the influence of drugs, hallucinated aliens.

These episodes would've made the game 100x better. There is nothing to do in single player. Even when you go out with friends, there are no interiors to go inside of.
I know this is an old comment, but this made me realized why the lack of DLCs bugs me. It's not the fact that the game eventually ends, even with it running out of side missions - it's because there's very little content in general.
Don't get me wrong, in my casual playthrough I got 50 or so hours out of the game - but that's with me doing just about every mission there is, including the Epsilon missions. I went to every therapy session, I hanged out with friends as much as I could. Once you reach the final mission, it's only a matter of time before the game stops having things to do.
Other open world games can last a long time after seeing the credits. Fallout is a great example of this. The difference between games like Fallout and Grand Theft Auto is that GTA's gameplay doesn't lead to infinite replayability. There's not hundreds of ways to tackle missions, there's no real challenge in-between missions, there's little to no exploration to do after a few hours.
GTA 5, outside of those moments where you want to just go on rampages through the map, is solely focused on its missions and story. Without that, there's nothing to do. There's no reason to play - which defeats the purpose of playing in an open world.
These DLCs aren't just us delaying the game's inevitable end. It's making the game have more variety, more replayability, more things to do in general. As well as tying up loose ends that even GTA 5's best/canon ending, The Third Way, doesn't really tie up all too well.
It makes a game that's over as soon as the credits roll continue forward.
I'd probably have a big smile on my face if Yusuf Amir made a return…

There’s even other things that hint at this like some of the futuristic weapons that were added like the Rail Gun and possibly even the Homing Missile. There was even a cut song named greyhound td in the game files that is a remix of the pause theme, It could have been the pause menu theme for one of these DLC’s

I think the “Arab” part refers to the heist that was eventually cancelled in the beta that was called The Sharmoota Job.
The heist revolved around Michael and Trevor trying to steal from Madrazo, and eventually kidnapping Patricia along the way.
Here’s why I believe it to be the case:
- “Sharmoota” means whore in Arabic. It was probably codenamed “Arab” to keep the name codename of it shorter.
- The heist involved stealing Madrazo’s prize horse. I’m guessing this plot was going to be reworked in the DLC seeing as “horse” is mentioned.

Yeah, but, man, I know about the deleted Madrazo job since almost 7 years ago, and, I clearly remember that it was a whole other thing, we still had to rob Madrazo, his horse actually, but dressed as clowns for a party at his house and there was 3D models, renders and textures of a room with stuff in the floor, pieces of broken wood and stuff, BUT, I actually think that what you say it’s actually more possible, it makes more sense

Wow, interesting that Rockstar tried to reuse assets, concepts and ideas from their cancelled Agent as well as a cut mission from GTA 5’s single-player campaign all for one story expansion.
All that just for it to be diluted so much into a small portion of it’s online dlc
At the end of the Big Score you see a pop up on the screen about the crew skills increasing, this means that the Pac Standard was supposed to be in story mode, after the final heist.
Maybe this was supposed to be planed by Franklin only, since Michael mentions that Frank will be able to do his own scores now.
Also the apocalypse clothing from Arena War and the special vehicles from Import Export (Ramp buggy, Armored Boxville, Wastelander and some others) were most deffinetly pulled from the canceled Zombies dlc.
On top of all that there was a cut Heist involving robbing Martin Madrazo.
The files from this piece of content layed unfinished and dormant in the game until R* recycled most of them into the Cayo Perico heist
So basically most big Online dlcs were just chopped up cut or canceled single player content

Well to be fair Raid was always micro-transaction trash, GTA was once an excellent work of art which turned into micro-transaction trash so it's a little more frustrating. Barely anyone uses money by buying it with real cash. You forget that the game is heavily level based, anyone under 135 has a inherent disadvantages irregardless of how rich they are because they have much of the content locked.

Franklins was the alien dlc involving mt. Chilliad making that painting more sensible. And then the zombie one was supposed to be Micheals similar to undead nightmare, which I think is why TH-cam had a resurgence of zombie mods, but that silo within mt. Chilliad would have opened up in franklin's mission but thats just speculation.

I could be very wrong I think the reason why Charles and Sadie survived RDR2 is because Dan Houser planned on giving those 2 their own stories where they redeem themselves and become legends like Arthur and John and the games would have been similar to Episodes from Liberty City. I imagine he had something in mind but like GTA V they wear abandoned for a broken, buggy, messy online mode.
Could also be what got him to leave. He didn't get to do what he wanted with his story for the second time, first with GTA 5, and second with RDR 2.

Could be he was sick of the live service shit rather than working on new projects. I mean, just look at Rockstar's output in 2010s vs the 2000s. That's speculative, but I highly doubt him or Rupert Humphries are anywhere to be found in the writing of GTA: Online aside from maybe the launch day missions, given the noticable decrease in quality.

@@MariusBoss11458 Him and his brother helped found the company. Sam is the CEO so he has a lot more of an executive position than Dan did. He's the one who probably makes most of the decisions with money, but Dan and Leslie were the main creative forces behind all of the games. There has to be some disagreements going on in there, and I'm sure it has to do with their biggest money maker, GTA Online.
Glad I'm not the only one who thought this. I also speculate that Import/Export and After Hours may have been DLC for Franklin, Smugglers Run and Gun Running for Trevor, and maybe Heists for Michael.
I see them more as online adaptations of singelplayer related jobs.. then again, there's no use for trevor to be grinding for bunker supplies when the man's already a multi-millionaire.

Is anyone ever gonna make a mod that adds doomsday heist to single player? I'd settle for main characters replacing the mute online characters in cutscenes and the heist missions/facility being brought back to sp, also the payout be much bigger so it makes sense and a free jetpack spawn in front of Trevor's hangar, as well as stromberg etc spawn somewhere.
Honestly this Agent dlc sounded interesting. It could've been something that felt like TBOGT with the amount of content given in the single player dlc

Good idea, I gave it a chance myself and gave up after two or three weeks because it was 70% grinding, 25%% lobbies and 5% fun, and I wasn't about to be ripped off with the ridiculously overpriced Shark Cards.
I've heard rumours of there being storylines but I didn't see any. I used to buy consoles just to play new GTA games but now I'm planning to get a good gaming PC and use mods to get new content for single player since Rockstar totally abandoned players like me who prefer it.
And I'll pick up second-hand physical copies of the PC versions of old GTA games to avoid giving Rockstar another cent after they totally ripped me off with their Defective Edition Trilogy.

I remember when I first played the Doomsday Heist, and I immediately knew it was originally Single Player DLC repurposed for Online. It tied up so many loose strings from the campaign, it was obvious.
It's heartbreaking to see how they dumped all of this just to milk the online mode even more. Now all those easter eggs and hints mean nothing, we got no DLC, no zombies mode (which probably they wanted to add in since GTA 4), no new DLC, no Agent game, and even RDR2's online is left uncared (and most likely also no single player DLC for this game either)
But hey we got more grinding and griefing in GTAO. yay...

Here's what I think these story DLCs would've been like:
Michael's alien-themed DLC could be where he makes a new movie with Solomon Richards. However, this new movie has to do with aliens, and Michael has doubts about this being a success when in reality he has a deep fear of aliens. But then, his nightmare becomes a reality when all the people he knows/loves are actually aliens. This would be a great reference to John Carpenter's movie They Live.
Franklin's zombie apocalypse DLC might be a "what-if" scenario where Franklin is one of the few remaining survivors in Los Santos. His story might involve his ex, Tinisha, where he has to find her because Franklin is scared and is looking for any remaining survivors. Or maybe he has to restore humanity with his Grove St. Family gang, but the Ballas are still present and they are a remaining threat apart from the zombies.
And Trevor's agent-themed DLC sounds like what Gypsy said. But with the 'Arab' part, maybe Yusuf Amir returns and wants to seize control of the new casino in LS. Somehow that goes together with Trevor working with the IAA.
Now this just gave me even more reasons to hate GTA Online

One more thing. The soundtrack file names in game files for Power Play game modes are called Cliff_01...02 and so on. Cliff is short for Clifford and that game mode came way before Clifford was introduced in the Doomsday dlc. This is direct confirmation to most of the doubts people have.
The doomsday heist in story mode would’ve been how they introduced the jet pack which people had been speculating about for ages in the early days.
This is why Leslie Benzies initially left Rockstar in 2014, nearly a year after the release of GTA V, then he officially left in 2016 when he saw what Rockstar's priority was. Because the same company he helped wax as a titan in the gaming industry didn't exist once GTA Online came out. A mode which Benzies initially wanted to scrap and rebuild as it's own thing, the GTA Online we got is a far cry of what Benzies wanted to give us. We were supposed to be a part of our own factions in the game, which really shows when you remember how much a skeleton it was when it first launched, where we could've been a part of the gangs or police and army. Then when you looked at what it was intended to be; you'd realize how shallow GTA Online really is.
It's really easy to blame Take-Two for Rockstar's sudden greed, but it's far too simple and way too easy to pin all the faults of one company on another. No. Take-Two gives Rockstar more freedoms than any other Publisher gives their Developers in the entire industry; Rockstar is a goose who lays golden eggs and Take-Two isn't stupid enough to ruin it like they would anything else. But gooses still grow old and eventually they'll stop laying, so I'll bet Rockstar are laying fewer and fewer eggs. And fowl that can't lay get the axe; if you get my meaning.
You can tell by his voice how much he didn’t want to do that RAID Shadow Legends sponsorship, and I really don’t blame him lol

A little known fact:
The only reason this dlc was canceled is because it was based on the assumption that people know Michael was never in witness protection, but Rockstar saw the wiki page saying he was indeed and canceled it immediately.

i think the whole thing about rockstar's cancelled "agent" project being related to trevor's episode is a huge reach. just because the dlc's codename had "agent" in it dosen't mean anything, and from the little information about that cancelled game it was going for a 007 vibe, whereas the agent dlc went for a more "men in black" feel (at least from what we can gather from the doomsday heist at least). if anything, "dlc_agenttrevor" is more of a small "joke" of how trevor, a loose cannon, is now a special agent, a "good guy".
Yeah and the '4G3NT' license plate on the JB700 is a reference to James Bond not to the cancelled game and/or dlc.

You know, it does beg the question - if I'm understanding this correctly, just about every major GTA Online update was from scrapped singleplayer DLC. If that's the case, then... What will happen once they dry out their scrapped ideas? I somehow doubt they're this devoid of creativity, but there's this voice in the back of my head that whispers "what if they are?"
That's not really true though.
Most GTA Online Updates were their own thing, only the Doomsday Heist borrowed heavily from SP DLC missions. Other GTA Online Updates just reused some assets for them here and there.
The Diamond Casino Heist, for example, didn't borrow from SP DLC either, they remade the entire Casino. Neither did Cayo Perico or the LS Tuners.

A gta zombie DLC would be so cool.. too bad it never happened and probably never will. Id love if the "Expanded and Enhanced" would include these missing DLCs but I seriously doubt it

My two brothers and I essentially shared the game since the three protagonists were played by us (I was Michael), especially when we were together playing a mission. Reading R*'s announcment of Story Mode DLC would have given us the opportunity to play alone 😂.
Between December 2013 to October 2017, I was always checking for updates on the Newswire or any leaks on GTAForums clinging on to the hope. After they announced it was essentially cancelled because of "GTAO and RDR2" I will admit: it made me sad and not caring about the game for a while.
Now this is some bufoonery thinking: do you think the Expanded & Enhanced would/could change that?
Honestly rockstar makes billions each month i don't know why they don't just make this dlc for the fun of it, they dont even need to profit cause they will make 50x with next months shark card sales.

This story mode dlc for Trevor really reminds me when the heist update released in 2015 people loved Trevor missions and payouts because I remember back in 2013-14 that people really hated Trevor and picked option A
After the series fund A missions people kinda liked him again I think the same would have happened if the story mode dlc released
Saying that the Casino Heist makes no sense cause they just robbed the UD makes no sense really cause Trevor was never contempt with the fact that the UD was meant to be the last heist

The best thing to do is port dlc content and missions to singleplayer via mods. GTA 5 with mods is a lot of fun. No grinding, no shark cards, playing the game how it's meant to be played. Not a single penny to Take2 and Rockstar.
michael, franklin, and trevor riding out of the mt chilliad on their own jetpacks would be way more satisfying and fun than seeing edgy gta online protagonists that did the entire mission simply because they wanted something to do

I think the reason why there are no single player dlc yet is because it would not work. Like, they would have to make 3 dlc cutscenes depending on which ending you use at the end of the game.

No I’m gonna debunk the JB 700 Easter egg.
The reason the JB 700 license plate says “agent” is most likely a hint to James Bond, Agent 007. The entire car is a reference to James Bond. JB are literally his initials, and 700 is just 007 backwards. Plus, even more so, the JB 700 is based off the Aston Martin DB5, the car James Bond is seen driving in Goldfinger. But the “Agent” plate connection still very well could be a hint for the codes.
Anyone else find it hilarious how Gypsy complains about GTA Online’s mediocre and repetitive content updates and the game’s horrendous micro-transactions, but takes a sponsor from one of the shittiest, most predatory mobile games with worse micro-transactions and an even worse gameplay loop with the shitty “energy” system?
I'm so very happy that I found out GTA Online is all about grinding, and the things you need money to buy aren't worth it, it's all to burn money, the game keeps repetitive. And I found out after I got lots of money, proudly through mod menu, the grinding isn't fun, it's there to frustrate you, making you want to skip that by buying shark cards.
Again, I'm proud and happy I never gave a penny to shark cards, instead I cheated, and it's the only time I would ever feel good about it.

This is pretty interesting. I really wonder how the IAA would have Trevor work for them but considering their ability to gain intel this might be how. Maybe even the ULP contact would be involved in Trevor’s blackmail. But the thing is, why won’t they blackmail Michael and Franklin too? I guess Trevor’s role in the heist was replaced by Lester to an extent. It’s a shame really. I wish that they wouldn’t have scrapped it in the favor of adding GTA Online more story. One last thing it’s a good question whether Trevor would be paid, because Niko was. Then again Trevor has a more complicated past with the government and is a more different criminal than Niko.
