    Thank you for showing me the tip around the plug. I was watching another video that was saying to just pull down the red tab and pull and it wasn't working. I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out what was wrong until I saw this video.

    Add the Dual Function Wiring Harness for the late model Silverado/Sierra from Boost Auto. It’s a 5 minute install, and alllows the cargo light at the top of the cab to become part of the reverse lights. I learned of it through Donslife, and love it! It really lights up where you are backing up!

    What I did was take a sharpie and trace a line where the bottom of the tailgate was before removing. After when you clean the surface with alcohol the mark is removed.

      @@TruckOwnership101 I have a 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 “Refresh” pickup truck. I purchased and installed the Recon 26416X Xtreme 60" LED Tailgate Light Bar as well as the Putco wiring harness, as you used in your video. As you're aware, the Putco harness saves me the task of wiring a four prong connector to each taillight, which is required because the truck has trailer sensing circuits.
      The Recon is a scanning light bar, which requires a separate 12-volt power connection. As I discovered, that power wire needs to be connected to an accessory power source (powered OFF when the truck is off, and ON only when the truck is running). Using a test light, I checked both fuse boxes inside the truck. All are powered with the truck off. I also have the doors open, the radio is off, etc., so the Reserve Accessory Power system should also be powered off. I can run a fused power wire wherever it needs to be, using wire and wire loom. Do you have any suggestions for where I might find a point to connect to?
      Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

    Great video. So far only install on TH-cam using the putco harness. I have a 2019 LT Z71 that I have been wanting to put a tailgate bar on since I took delivery and am now ready to order. Always used OPT7 redline bars on my past Silverado’s and had good luck with them. Definitely a premium quality with the Blade though so I think I’m going to go that route. Would love to see a picture of the finished product with wire and harness management.

  • @kastlrock557

    The tailgate clears it no problem on the pivot (opening & closing) but there is zero room for error when hauling mulch or rock in the bed, if any little piece gets between the tailgate and bed, the light gets crushed! With the tailgate down, it’s really close to the bumper, the bumper is then really close to the bed not allowing a exit for any debris. With out the light bar, it’s already tight and problematic, You really got make sure things are clean afterwards, a small piece of mulch crushed my light bar, I really cleaned the mulch out good, I even used a vacuum, but a small piece I didn’t see in the corner took it out. It looked great for a month.

    so update! installed the lightbar on my 2020 2500hd silverado. the only issue i had was installing the lightbar using the 3m strips and brackets. unfortunately it isn't as easy to take off the tailgate on the 2500's vs the 1500's so i was unable to get it off, which made life a little difficult getting the brackets exactly in place where i wanted them and ultimately the left side of the lightbar ended up being about 1/8 of an inch higher than the right side. so gonna have to retry getting the brackets on in better positions to get it more level. overall the plug and play style was nice and super easy.

    I love your excitement at seeing the finished product! I do love lights. I added some brilliant amber LED fixtures to the side of my bed box that only work on turn signals on my '20 GMC 2500.
    I have the bed lights from the factory operated with a separate OEM switch. I've added rock lights at the back wheels to light the area on the side of the truck but don't have much light at the back. I've considered this product but would like to wire the back-up lights into the bed light switch instead of the back up lights. Was there a separate plug for back-up lights or was it combined in the OEM plug you used? Since the Putco used the 4 pin trailer plug there would have to be another plug somewhere.

    • @TruckOwnership101
      @TruckOwnership101  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The harness taps into the taillights. That’s why there was a left and right. If I used the 4 pin option then I would have also plugged into a white round plug underneath the vehicle.

I have a Chevy Silverado 2021 and after seeing how you connected the harness I'm finding that's the way to go. However, I want sequential blinking turn signals and I'm finding that the light bar you are installing does not offer sequential blinking turn signal. My question to you is; can I purchase a light bar with sequential blinking turn signals (OPT7 Redline Tailgate Light Bar) and use the harness from amazon you have linked above?
