What a nice gift-- his familiar shoes back, with some improvements. The comfort of familiarity can't be underestimated. Not everyone wants a complete turnover in their closet each year. I have pieces of clothes from several relatives that have died. I keep them, and wear them, because of what those items meant, and what the people meant to me who wore them. They bring me both joy and sadness, but mostly they anchor me to my family, my past, and to who I am.
