- Many listeners have had tons of follow-up questions about IBS-C from our previous episodes, so we invited back one of our favorite patient advocates to answer them for you. Karen is here to get into more details about her personal healthcare journey including her search for the right doctor. We also discuss more of the different subcategories of IBS-C, including DGBI (Disorders of Gut-Brain Interaction) as well as the IBS-C treatment options that finally worked for her. This episode is brought to you by Ardelyx.

You’re welcome 😊
so important to note themental stress too!
Thank you so much!
I’ve been struggling and stressed with my gut and bowels. I’ve spent lots of money on doctors, supplements and diets, and it’s not working! I have an appointment with another gastroenterologist in a couple of weeks.
Thank you for sharing. Unfortunately, many people struggle with the same cycle of spending money and time on various supplements, diets, etc. The gut-brain connection is very real and there are also behavioral health related options that can help too. It is great you have an appointment with another GI. We encourage you to write down the main points you want to discuss during your visit. symptoms, and life style factors (what you're eating, stress levels, exercise, etc, ) as all these can impact your symptoms. Here are some evidence-based resources that you might find helpful:

Thank you for your question. We cannot provide medical advice, but highly recommend you consult with your healthcare provider as these are all serious conditions and are best managed under the care of a healthcare provider with specific expertise in gastroenterology. You may also want to consult with a registered dietitian who has expertise in working with people with these GI health conditions. Hope that helps.
