- Our pet bunny Lilly had outgrown her current home and needed a bigger place to live. This is my process of getting a bigger and better home made for her. Please excuse the audio glitch in the middle. I'm such an amateur.

I hope someone who stumbled here like I did sees this. I found myself here while looking for inspiration on converting furniture into a usable bunny enclosure and I love the end result of this. But, please keep in mind that an enclosure like this is best suitable for your rabbit as their "bedroom" or hidey house rather than locking them in there. Rabbits require a lot of space to run around, jump, blinky, and do as they please in order to live long happy lives. Free-roaming is your best bet or even dedicating a bunny-proofed room to them is perfect! But they should not be kept in cages. Cages, imo, should be used as optional sleeping quarters, if at all. And please keep them inside!! I encourage everyone who wants to give a bunny a home to do as much research as they can on how to keep them before getting one because unfortunately there's so many misconceptions about them floating around. :(
This is a great help to anyone looking to build a rabbit hutch that looks like furniture for inside the home!
Thank you!
That's pretty cool how you converted an armoire into a bunny cage. My father in law and I are doing the same thing soon. Great way to make a beautiful cage for a bunny, can be done for birds and other animals too.
Thank you!
Thank you for making this video!! I’m thinking of getting a pet rabbit and I want a nice hutch for indoors but they seem cheaply made online. This is a great way to reuse old furniture and also learn how to build things on my own. Keep it up!
Thank you!
What a great way to upcycle! 👍🏼
Thank You!
WOW, that was an awesome transformation of that hutch into a bunny home, thank you for sharing...
Thank you for watching!
That is the most beautiful indoor bunny cage I've ever seen :)
Thank You!
Greetings and Happy Holidays 🎉 I just had to tell you what an amazing job you did! I absolutely love this bunny hutch, its exactly what I've been searching for. I looked everywhere for a furniture style hutch with multiple levels, convenient access for cleaning and not too long or deap. So, watching you convert that old armoire into a Beautiful and Classy piece of furniture was wonderful!
Thank you for sharing your talent with us. Along with demonstrating exactly how, you took a retired worn-out cabinet and transform it into a fantastic looking rabbit hutch! Which, for me serves not only the purpose of being a rabbit hutch. But, also bc it's such an elegant looking piece of furniture to have in your home! In lue of having an unattractive traditional cage like I have right now 🙇. haha Oh, plus the wheels you incorporated allow it to be moved so easily.
So, I just had to say "Wow!" Because, You Sir crafted a gorgeous hutch and the entire piece is functional in every way! You've definitely inspired me and I'm definitely done searching for hutches online! Thanks to you, I've decided to go hunting for a hutch @ the good will store instead of buying one. Then, I just have to get my husband to convert it into a bunny hutch like you did. 😶 haha I'll make sure he watches your video a few times 1st! 😂
Thanks again and Take Care... 👣
payitforward410 thank you so much!
Great job!! This looks amazing and even though the video is sped up you walk me through it and I can see ever step. This is my next project!!!
Thank You!
So beautiful, oh my. Love how handy u r 😁😁 and ur daughter is adorable!!!
Thank you so much!
While beautifully made, it seems too small for a bunny. Also bunnies should not be watered with a bottle.
I was curious if the bunny actually made it up to the second and third floor. The ramps look smooth and steep and rabbits don’t have pads for traction on their feet.
I made some bunny furniture and my bunny only sort of uses the ramp and only because she has space to use it as step basically.
That`s really cool! earth friendly too! I built my own cage too, but I did`nt use a shelf thing. I used old planks from a garage
Thank You! If we can make instead of buying it, we will make it every time.
I loved watching this! I will never make it but such a great video! Thanks
Thank You!
I'd pay a couple hundred for that!!!
Thanks!
What type of paint did you use inside that is safe for bunnies? That's the only thing holding me back from renovating a dresser I have
After doing some research I discovered that if I used a water based acrylic it would be animal friendly. Turns out it was because our bunny has chewed on quite a bit of it without any issues.
This thing is amazing 😍😍😍 I love it. How did you make it up??!
Thank you! We just wanted something that didn't look like a rabbit cage and was big and we had that big old thing in our garage.
Amazing!
thank you!
Well done .

thank you!
Can it be home for reptile or just small animals
I don't know a lot about reptile needs, but I suppose it could be used that way also.
Nice cage
Raven Renee thank you!
Chad Makes It how long did it takeyou to make it also where did you find the armour
Raven Renee I did it over a 2 week period working off and on, it could easily be done in a weekend though. All the wood I just had laying around and the front door fencing material I got from home depot.
Chad Makes It where did you find it
Raven Renee it was the top section of an old TV cabinet we used to have
good job
Thank You!
I might be able to do something like this for another pet, not a rabbit though because the shelves, even though removable are too low and I personally think it just isn't enough (if I used mine) but for let's say a hamster (with mine) would be a good size.
i would love this for my bun
your amazing!!!! How can you do this? Wish i could lol! Keep it up! :)
Roman Reigns Is #1!!!! Thank you very much!
I'm going to get a rabbit soon and I was wondering if that wood is suitable for rabbits as they nibble at it? also what wood is suitable and also I heard I can't use paint is that true
It is made from untreated pine which is what they make shaving/bedding for rabbit cages with. Cedar is also a safe wood to work with. The paint is water based acrylic which is non-toxic animal/human safe.
Good job.
For future videos you could go into iMovie and remove the sound during your time lapses and but non copyrighted music in the background!
I found the sound entertaining :D the girl blabbing, so cute.
I was thinking the same. But super cool project!
How is it staying water proof on the bottom floor?
It's not waterproof, just water resistant. The rabbit uses the bathroom in a litter-box on the bottom floor, so we don't really have a problem with the floor getting wet.
Thanks! Looking for ideas. I have an old computer hutch that I was thinking of turning it into a rabbit home. How far part (about) are your levels? Thanks!
they are about 16-17 inches apart
so cool that was amazing
:)
that insert rabbit made me laugh but awesome cage
Thank You!
woodprix includes very useful plans with all details I need
Did you use nontoxic paint?
yes it was a non-toxic water based acrylic
I wish I was that handy
I'm not hatting on this person, or anyone in general who does this, but you really shouldn't be feeding your bunny water through a bottle. I know its a lot cleaner than having a dish, but it's not as natural for a bunny to drink from and bunnies can drink as much as a large dog in one day. A tiny water bottle like that will not provide them with enough water. also a tip for the design, but maybe have part of the door not be wire because bunnies are prey animals, it's natural for them to want a place to hide in. so if part of the door is not wire, it provides them with a space to hide for when they want to sleep or are scared and want to hide.
Not enough space for bunnus
Paint is extremely harmful for rabbits, just to let people know (:
This piece of furniture is beautifully up-cycled though!
Maeve Plant If it’s animal safe paint it should be okay. :)
THAT IS WAY TO SMALL FOR A RABBIT U CLEARLY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT U R DOING DO U
That is way too small for a rabbit
