I've successfully used Bonide Hot Pepper Wax spray for several years now. Every few months I reapply, especially leading up to fall & winter. I have no experience with the subject cover but my experience with other car covers that they get chewed on and themselves become rodent nesting material.
Mice are like your local chop shop. They have a list of vehicles that they target for high energy soy based wire insulation. This is why they have become an even bigger issue. With my older vehicles they are just interested in a Motel 6. With the newer vehicles they want to stay and order dinner in. The soy based insulation is not as durable either. It wears easily, breaks down faster (by design) and just happens to taste great to rodents. While not an EPA mandate, the soy based insulation does decompose into nontoxic byproducts when exposed to the elements in a landfill or salvage yard.
Mix some cayenne pepper in some water and spray the solution around wiring and the rodents will leave it alone. They even make commercially available spray cans of it to spray on critical areas to keep the rodents away.
I wouldn't use it regularly so it wouldn't help me. Intriguing idea. I have a gravel driveway, so getting it dirty and covered in grit would likely scratch the vehicle.
Hello Tim. Nice solution for rodents. Now what’s the cure for Gremlins 😅😊. Two weeks ago my neighbor found a mouse nest tucked in the firewall. With lil critters. Ya not good
I had a 2011 Subaru parked out side one night and rodents destroyed the engine harness spark plug wires and fuel sending electrical over 8k in damage I thought it was totaled. No tarp or cover will block rodents they will come up from under the ground so unless the vehicle is parked on level concrete and zippered to the ground good luck build a garage that’s what I did!
@@KyleRattay I park my truck in my shop but the mice chewed through the garage door bottom gasket to get in. I have been using sticky traps at both ends of the garage door which seems to be very effective.
My mom had issues with chipmunks eating away her hvac system in her Rav 4 it was a costly repair she had no heat or A/C since the Chipmunks ate it now she she puts these smell balls in the wheel wells since that's how they got to the wiring for it.
Just got my SUV back for new plugs installed and mechanic said he removed a nest. So this is timely. Thanks!
I have a trike motorcycle, something like this would be great for winter storage

Some car manufacturers, such as Mercedes, Hyundai, and Kia, use a soy based wire insulation. GM does not.
